Chapter 255: The Hun Clan
"Whoosh~"
The immense Hun origin surged into Yao Yan's Hun like a tidal wave, even causing space fluctuations akin to ripples in water. As the Hun origin integrated, Yao Yan's already increased Hun power surged once again, advancing to higher levels.
As for the negative emotions contained within the Hun origin, they were all devoured by the evil eye on his forehead, transforming into the purest evil energy... This unique form of evil energy had an insatiable appetite, not picky at all, as it seemed that everything in the world could be turned into its power source.
As Yao Yan's strength grew, the power of the evil eye also increased. Even though it hadn't devoured much, it was an integral part of Yao Yan, so it shared in all his gains!
Yao Yan could even sense the special abilities of the evil eye, such as its suppression of Hun bodies... It seemed to restrain Hun bodies, even feeding on them!
As for the specifics, Yao Yan hadn't fully activated this power yet, so he wasn't entirely sure.
...
Time passed unnoticed during cultivation, and a month later, Yao Yan's name had completely spread across the entire Central Continent. Even the major imperial families had heard of him. After all, to provoke several Dou Sheng experts, and even have the Ancestor of the Pill Tower and the Hall Master of the Hun Hall appear, it was impossible not to gain attention.
Normally, Dou Shengs were extremely restrained, with direct confrontations being rare, sometimes not occurring for decades.
Many older experts scoffed at the situation, as the Hun Clan liked to play these covert, beneath-the-surface schemes. First, there was Hun Xuzi, who, despite being a Hun Clan genius, had gone into hiding and entered the Pill Tower under a false identity. Using his talents, he became a disciple of the former Tower Master, then orchestrated a plot to have him killed. Such a traitor, who killed his teacher, could never be accepted by the world. Then came Yao Yan... no, it should be Hun Yan, who, despite his outstanding talent, pretended to be from the Medicine Clan and even got involved with the discarded son of the Medicine Clan, Yao Chen.
All these events could fill an entire book.
Furthermore, recent reports suggested that Hun Yan was actually Hun Xuzi's disciple, which immediately caused Yao Yan's reputation to plummet to its lowest point!
Naturally, Yao Yan was unaware of all this. He was still digesting the Hun origin, and after a few more days, he slowly opened his eyes. A sharp glint flashed in his eyes, and a terrifying Hun pressure exploded outward, causing the surrounding space to crack. Compared to his overwhelming Hun power, the evil eye on his forehead became more restrained, eventually transforming into a purple-black symbol, marking his forehead.
"Not bad. With your current Hun power, ordinary seven or eight-star Dou Zun wouldn't be a match for you," Hun Miesheng, who had been watching over Yao Yan, smiled with satisfaction as he spoke.
Having consumed three Hun origins and reaching the peak of the middle Celestial realm, Yao Yan hadn't wasted Hun Miesheng's efforts.
With Yao Yan's current strength, he should be capable of taking on the little madman from the Hun Hall.
Yao Yan didn't respond, though. He didn't need Hun Miesheng to tell him—he could feel how much he had improved. The intensity of his Hun power had increased more than tenfold. Even though it was just a small realm upgrade, the gap between the two levels was enormous.
It must be said, the further one advanced in cultivation, the greater the exponential growth at each level.
"Now that you've broken through, it's time to prepare. I'll take you back to the Hun Clan... This seems to be your first time returning," Hun Miesheng's gaze shifted as he looked at Yao Yan, speaking in a soft voice.
"I've always been in the Medicine Clan. Had I not met my teacher, I wouldn't have known that my father was from the Hun Clan!" Yao Yan suppressed his aura and nodded slightly, his tone mixed with complexity.
"As for your father's situation, I'm not very clear. But there's no need to worry. The Hun Clan is different from the Medicine Clan. We don't value bloodline rank; we value ability. If your ability is enough, there will be many opportunities to raise your bloodline rank. Even a fire seed like the Void Devouring Flame can be obtained!" Hun Miesheng said faintly.
He paused for a moment.
His eyes flickered with black flames as he lowered his voice and continued, "Of course, if your abilities aren't enough, even if your bloodline is high, you'll just be a stepping stone for others... But with your current strength, even within the Hun Clan, you are among the top tier. You even have the qualifications to compete for the position of Young Clan Leader!"
"Young Clan Leader? Isn't that position reserved for the Clan Leader's son..." Yao Yan was taken aback and asked.
"The Clan Leader has no children. He's not like the leaders of the Medicine Clan. His only goal in life is to become a Dou Emperor!" A trace of fervor appeared in Hun Miesheng's eyes, and his voice grew slightly louder.
However, these emotional fluctuations quickly subsided.
He looked at Yao Yan and continued, "Some things, when you reach the Dou Sheng level, you'll understand. If you lack the strength, knowing too much won't help you. Work hard; I'm looking forward to your performance in the future!"
After finishing, he smiled faintly, raised his hand, and twisted the space, taking Yao Yan away from the Hun origin space. In an instant, they appeared in a void space, surrounded by black flames that formed a barrier, shielding them from the surrounding space turbulence as they sped off toward the distance.
"The Heavenly Hall is about half a day's journey from the Hun Realm. You've just broken through, so take a moment to adjust. When you return to the Hun Clan, some little ones will likely cause trouble for you," Hun Miesheng glanced at Yao Yan, who appeared calm, and smiled lightly.
"That's just right. I'm currently lacking someone to spar with and get familiar with this newly gained power," Yao Yan clenched his fist and said with some excitement.
"Your teacher must be looking forward to your performance," Hun Miesheng's eyes gleamed with amusement, and he said softly.
"I won't disappoint him!" Yao Yan replied solemnly.
Hun Miesheng smiled with a hint of amusement but said no more. He continued to lead Yao Yan toward the Hun Realm.
Several hours later.
Hun Miesheng's voice rang in Yao Yan's ears: "We've arrived."
Upon hearing this, Yao Yan opened his eyes, and before him was an expansive world, vast and immense. As Hun Miesheng retracted the Void Devouring Flame, the rich energies of heaven and earth surged toward them, shaking Yao Yan's mind. If the Central Continent was the most prosperous place on the Dou Qi Continent, then the domains of the major imperial clans were the true caves of heaven and earth!
"How does it compare to the Medicine Clan's domain?" Hun Miesheng asked. He had never been to the Medicine Clan's domain. Most of his time was spent managing the Hun Hall, and because of the Hun Hall, his reputation had soured, even making him an enemy of the Medicine Clan.
After all, the Hun Hall specialized in targeting alchemists, and the Medicine Clan was the place with the most alchemists.
If the Hun Clan had no interest in the Medicine Clan, that would be self-deception.
"I don't know. When I left the Medicine Clan, I was still very weak, and my view was limited to just one city," Yao Yan shook his head slightly and truthfully said.
"Later, if you have the chance, you can measure it for yourself~" Hun Miesheng chuckled, speaking with meaning.
Yao Yan didn't respond. He could tell what Hun Miesheng meant—this 'measuring' was undoubtedly referring to the future battle of clan extermination. According to the original plot, that day wasn't far off. Even if he had hidden away the Gu imperial jade from the Xiao Clan, it wouldn't stop the Hun Clan's grand scheme.
The great war between the imperial clans was imminent. Yao Yan didn't have much time to develop. He needed to quickly break through to the Dou Sheng level!
"Let's go. Your teacher has already sensed it," Hun Miesheng said and immediately moved Yao Yan to the Hun Clan's imperial city.
It was an ancient, towering city, not particularly imposing in design, but built entirely from black giant rocks. Perhaps due to years of erosion, it looked slightly decayed, filled with the marks of time, and exuded an Gu aura.
With Hun Miesheng leading the way, Yao Yan didn't need to descend. They flew straight into the heart of the palace complex.
Almost as soon as they landed, dozens of terrifying gazes fixed on Yao Yan. These gazes ignored the space between them, landing directly on Yao Yan. The invisible pressure caused Yao Yan's body to stiffen.
It wasn't that these strong individuals were intimidating him; it was that he felt danger. His body instinctively reacted to the threat.
It was like a person who stands still when facing danger.
Similarly.
Yao Yan felt this now, a sensation he hadn't experienced in a long time. This indicated that the owners of these gazes were incredibly powerful, to the point of being terrifying. Thinking back to the original descriptions of the Hun Clan's strength, he couldn't help but feel a sense of awe. In terms of Dou Shengs, the Hun Clan undoubtedly surpassed all other clans.
This was also why the Hun Clan dared to go to war with the other imperial families.
They had the strength to do so!
The Hun Clan had reached its peak!
"This is my disciple~" With a faint laugh, a streak of black flame appeared in front of Yao Yan. As the flame rose, the surrounding space seemed to connect to a unique flame space. Before Yao Yan could even glance at it, Hun Xuzi's figure emerged.
"Is this the kid causing such a stir in the Central Continent?" an elderly voice sounded, tinged with curiosity.
"Yes, his father was my disciple, and later, he married a woman from the Medicine Clan and had him. Many years ago, I went to the Medicine Clan and brought him back... Young one, welcome back to the Hun Clan. From now on, you are one of us. Today, I'll give you a name, Hun Yan!" Hun Xuzi seemed in a very good mood as he laughed heartily.
Hun Yan... Yao Yan was stunned for a moment. After a while, he cupped his hands and said, "Thank you for the name, Master!"
"Right on time. Rest for a while, and then you can participate in the bloodline baptism. If you can come out on top, you'll become the Young Clan Leader. Do your best, don't disappoint me!" Hun Xuzi expressed his expectations for Yao Yan, while also sending a message to everyone else.
His disciple was going to compete for the position of Young Clan Leader!
"Is his bloodline concentration high?" Another unfamiliar elderly voice asked, his tone deep.
Clearly, not everyone in the room was indifferent to bloodline concentration.
"This little one is one I personally trained. He has the bloodline talent of the Devouring Spirit Clan, and can freely devour the bloodline powers of any race, including ours!" Hun Xuzi smiled faintly. His tone suddenly became serious as he added, "Now, he already possesses the bloodline power of the Medicine Clan, Stone Clan, Spirit Clan, and Flame Clan's Dou Emperor bloodlines!"
Almost immediately after Hun Xuzi's words, Yao Yan felt several figures appear around him. Without any fluctuation in space, they instantly teleported in front of him.
An elderly man, with white hair, grabbed Yao Yan's wrist and, without caring if Yao Yan agreed, pierced his finger and squeezed out a drop of bright red blood, which he consumed. Moments later, shock appeared on the elderly face, "It's real? You really succeeded?!"
His murky eyes suddenly shone with a terrifying intensity, staring at Yao Yan as though seeing a treasure.
Everyone present knew about Hun Xuzi's past deeds, but no one expected him to succeed. The high-ranking Dou Shengs were all keenly aware of what Yao Yan's unique constitution meant.
At the very least, he was a solid candidate for Dou Sheng, and if cultivated properly, he could even become one of the strongest figures on the Dou Qi continent!
If this kid were to gather the divine bloodlines of the imperial clans... just imagining it was intriguing.
At this point, the elderly man's gaze became increasingly heated, and many of the elders in the room couldn't sit still. They appeared one after another, looking at Yao Yan with curiosity. Soon, they discovered the multiple heavenly flames within him.
"Kid, how do you have so many heavenly flames in you?" A middle-aged man asked, his expression full of shock.
Even a Dou Sheng couldn't integrate too many heavenly flames into their body. The powerful Xiao Xuan, back in the day, had only forced the heavenly flames into his body by relying on his strength. It was impossible to do what Yao Yan had done, perfectly fusing multiple heavenly flames.
"This is his opportunity. He obtained a cultivation method from the discarded son of the Medicine Clan, Yao Chen, which required devouring heavenly flames to evolve... But this method only has a low yellow-tier stage in the early phases. It was just his luck. If anyone else tried, they wouldn't even know how they died," Hun Xuzi explained lightly, clearing up the confusion for the Hun Clan elders.
Though curious, he wasn't particularly hopeful. After all, the same method could lead to very different results depending on the person. This particular method, which required risking one's life, was not replicable.
Without mentioning that, just obtaining multiple heavenly flames was a rare stroke of luck. It was only due to Yao Yan's monstrous luck that he had gathered five within a few short years and even advanced the technique to the Celestial level!
Hun Xuzi couldn't help but marvel at Yao Yan's luck. But he also had to admit that if Yao Yan had been less fortunate, he never would have successfully integrated the Devouring Spirit Clan's bloodline. Sometimes, luck was also a form of strength!
As Hun Xuzi finished speaking, the mood of the crowd shifted, and as he said, this method, which started from the low yellow tier and required devouring heavenly flames to evolve, was indeed a treacherous one.
"Kid, what were you thinking? How could you continue cultivating this method?" A burly man asked in astonishment, giving a glance at Hun Xuzi, who had taught him this method. If this fine potential was wasted by such a foolish method, it would be the Hun Clan's loss.
Not everyone in the Hun Clan was like Hun Xuzi. Many of the elders still cared about the clan's development.
"I accidentally obtained a spatial ring containing Yao Chen's soul. Inside was a Bone Spirit Cold Fire, along with this method. With the Falling Heart Flame from Canaan Academy and the Void Devouring Flame promised by my teacher, I felt it was worth taking the risk!" Yao Yan explained his "real intentions" honestly as he faced the curious gazes of the Hun Clan elders.
"Bull! You're the only one who succeeded. If you had failed, you wouldn't even know how you died... I seriously suspect that Hun Xuzi didn't care about you at all and just let you go wild!" An elder glared angrily at Hun Xuzi and scolded.
Hun Xuzi dared not retort. He had no choice. The other man was his senior and stronger than him, so he could only smile awkwardly.
"Our clan doesn't lack Celestial-level techniques! Fortunately, you succeeded. Very impressive!" The elder said appreciatively, then continued, "I am Hun Yan. If you encounter any trouble in the future, come find me!"
