A bright white light crashed into Kai's eyes, forcing him to raise his left palm over his face.
In the glittering darkness behind his palm, he caught sight of the sparks that drifted around, some sticking to his palm, others to his arm.
When he cracked his eyes open, he swallowed hard, seeing a cocooned human who had been held in a glass jar.
"What is that?" he screamed, turning to Merlin. When he shifted his gaze back to the jar, green light bounced from the inside as if it wanted to escape.
"Is that light also trapped?" he asked, shifting glances from the light to Merlin.
Merlin's eyebrow lowered when he turned and saw nothing, just the cocooned human. "What light are you talking about?"
Kai curled his lips inward, gave a short exhale, then shook his head when Merlin turned toward him. "Nothing. I just thought I saw something."
