Chapter 333 - Chapter 333: The Trajectory of History

"???"

Gran, Beerus, and Whis all stared at each other in confusion.

When exactly had this "cat-servant" gone off to gather the Dragon Balls?

"Gran, didn't you go train Gohan and Piccolo some time ago?" Bulma explained. "I used that opportunity to collect the seven Dragon Balls."

Only then did Gran remember what had happened two months earlier.

At the time, Bulma had been following behind him. He had thought she wanted to tag along with him again, but instead, she walked right past him without even acknowledging him, leaving him awkwardly standing there alone.

So that was the reason.

"So you were collecting the Dragon Balls."

Gran finally understood, but then he frowned.

"But why?"

"Gran, did you forget what happened in the future timeline?" Bulma said bitterly. "Originally, I wanted to use the Dragon Balls to cure Goku's heart virus."

"But afterward, I started thinking… with Vegeta and the others invading Earth soon, if something unexpected happened, I could still use the Dragon Balls to turn the situation around. So I held onto them instead of making the wish immediately."

"Who would've thought Piccolo would die…"

If Piccolo died, Kami would die as well.

And if Kami died, the Dragon Balls would become useless.

Bulma had already learned that cruel truth in the future timeline.

Gran and the others fell silent.

"So what do we do now?" Bulma asked anxiously.

"You'll find out soon enough."

Seeing that Bulma still wanted to ask more questions, Gran waved his hand.

"That's enough. Kakarot suffered a major loss this time, so now he's finally getting serious. Vegeta is finished."

Everyone turned their attention back toward the battlefield below.

Logically speaking, 3 million battle power should have been the threshold for becoming a Super Saiyan.

Yet even after Vegeta broke through to 10 million battle power, he still failed to transform.

Gran guessed there were two possible reasons.

The first was that the S-Cells within Vegeta's body still weren't sufficient.

The second… was the self-correcting force of history itself.

Just like when Vegeta had fallen into a hopeless situation during the assault on Frieza's headquarters—yet still managed to survive by relying on a Capsule Corp pod to reach Earth.

Just like Piccolo becoming the Son family's babysitter.

Under normal circumstances, Piccolo only took Gohan away after Goku died at Raditz's hands.

But in this reality, Goku never died. He merely went to train under King Kai.

And yet somehow, Piccolo still ended up abducting Gohan.

Then there was Piccolo's death itself.

Only with Piccolo's death would Goku and the others head to Namek.

And because the Dragon Balls in Bulma's possession had turned to stone, she would inevitably accompany them to Namek in order to cure Goku's future heart disease…

All of it.

Every single event.

Although certain details had deviated from the original timeline, the greater trajectory of history itself remained unchanged.

Goku would still transform into a Super Saiyan on Planet Namek.

And only after that would it finally be Vegeta's turn.

The corrective force of history truly was mysterious.

Having already guessed what would happen next, Gran couldn't help sighing inwardly.

Meanwhile, the battle below continued.

Just as Gran predicted, after Piccolo's death, Goku stopped holding back entirely and raised the Kaio-ken to four times its normal power.

5 million battle power × 5.

His strength exploded straight to 25 million!

10 million versus 25 million—

Vegeta never stood a chance.

Before long, he was completely defeated.

And yet…

After Vegeta lost, Goku still chose to spare him—just like in the original story.

"This…"

Beerus widened his eyes.

He had genuinely thought Vegeta was dead this time.

Whis narrowed his eyes slightly.

"Gran, Son Goku is far too naïve."

"But if he weren't that naïve," Gran replied calmly, "would his martial arts talent be this extraordinary?"

Whis: "..."

Goku possessed the pure heart of a child.

And it was precisely because he was so pure and uncomplicated that his martial arts talent had reached such terrifying heights.

Whis found himself unable to refute that.

"Alright, let's head down," Gran said with a smile. "We can't let Vegeta escape."

Truthfully, Gran had already been mentally prepared for Goku sparing Vegeta.

After all, that was exactly what happened in the original story.

Even during the Namek Saga, Frieza murdered Krillin—Goku's closest friend.

And despite that…

Goku still tried to spare Frieza in the end.

That was simply who Son Goku was.

The three divine beings slowly descended from the sky.

Only Tights and Bulma remained floating above.

"Bulma, can you please ask Lord Gran to show mercy?" Tights pleaded pitifully. "Vegeta really isn't a bad person!"

"He killed Piccolo and you still say he's not bad?"

Bulma sighed.

"Big sis… what exactly happened to you? Don't tell me you actually fell for Vegeta just because he played hero and saved you once?"

The moment those words came out—

Tights' cheeks flushed red.

"Big sis, you…"

Bulma's eyes widened instantly.

At long last, she had uncovered the truth!

On the ground, after the devastating bombardment earlier, the battlefield had become a complete wasteland.

"Goku, how can you let them go?! They killed Piccolo!" Krillin shouted in disbelief.

"Dad! Uncle Piccolo died! Don't let them escape!"

Badly injured, Gohan burst into tears as he cried out.

The other Z Fighters also tried persuading Goku.

Goku stared at the defeated Vegeta lying on the ground, conflict filling his heart.

"I know what I'm doing is wrong… but I still want to fight him again someday."

"Goku!!"

"Dad!!"

The Z Fighters shouted unwillingly.

"What humiliation…"

"The great Prince Vegeta… defeated by a low-class warrior…"

Taking advantage of everyone's distraction, Vegeta slowly forced himself back to his feet.

He tossed out a Capsule Corp capsule.

Inside was a storage unit.

And within that storage unit—his spaceship.

This time, Vegeta didn't abandon the dying Nappa.

He grabbed the bald Saiyan by the collar.

Turning back toward the group, Vegeta roared inwardly:

You'll regret sparing me!

When I return for revenge, all of you will pay!

Then he coldly barked toward Raditz, who still stood frozen nearby.

"Why are you still standing there? Do you want to die?"

Raditz glanced at Goku… then at Vegeta.

Finally, he let out a sigh and walked toward them.

But as he passed Goku, he paused briefly.

"Kakarot… when I look at you, I see Father."

"You've made me proud."

"Goodbye."

After saying that, he continued forward.

"You… you're still going with him?"

"Can't you stay on Earth instead?" Goku asked with a frown.

From beginning to end, Raditz had never participated in the battle.

Because of that, Goku's impression of his older brother wasn't particularly bad.

"Sorry."

"I can't let go of Father's death… or the destruction of the Saiyan race."

"I will find the method to become a Super Saiyan."

"And then… I'll kill Frieza."

Raditz walked over and supported Vegeta.

The Z Fighters could only watch them with unwilling eyes.

Just as the Saiyan trio was about to retrieve the capsule and board the spaceship—

"Vegeta… where do you think you're going?"

A cold voice suddenly echoed down from the sky.
