Waiting is always the hardest, especially the wait before obtaining what you desire most or before a battle begins.
In Konoha, Kaoru quietly waited for Obito's arrival. Kaoru knew that Obito would definitely come—without the Rinnegan, he couldn't awaken the Outer Gedo Statue, and Obito's dream was just empty talk. To fulfill Rin's lingering dream, Obito would go to any lengths!
With space manipulation abilities, the Mangekyō Sharingan, transplanted with White Zetsu's body, can use Wood Release, and can fuse Fire and Wood Release techniques with his space eyes to wield incredible power.
Overall, Obito isn't someone easy to deal with. But in Kaoru's view, unless he had that difficult-to-counter illusion ability, his strength wouldn't even compare to the Six Paths of Pain.
Everyone must be responsible for their ideals and actions. In Kaoru's mind, Obito isn't a bad person, nor a good one. But since he has firmly decided on his ideals, he should carry them out unwaveringly. Yet, in the final moments, he was even swayed by Naruto.
Although Naruto's genjutsu is extremely powerful—most people can't resist—it also reveals Obito's inner doubts. But Kaoru is different. His purpose in coming to this world is to protect himself, protect his sister, and by the way… dominate the entire ninja world!
"Report to the leader: two of our operatives sent to spy on the Water Country have been killed!" Shin suddenly came to report as Kaoru was deep in thought.
"Killed?" Kaoru frowned, then asked, "What's the condition of the bodies?"
"They were struck dead by a close-range Fire Release attack, and their chakra was almost completely devoured," Shin reported.
"Fire Release, chakra devoured..." Repeating this phrase, Kaoru quickly understood who was behind it.
"Which base do those two Root organization ninjas belong to?" Kaoru immediately asked.
"The third base, located southwest of Konoha," Shin answered.
"So, Uchiha Obito has come knocking so soon? Interesting..." A faint smile appeared at the corner of Kaoru's mouth. Using his teleportation technique, he vanished from the spot.
At the third base of the Root organization, a flash of black light, and Kaoru, dressed in a dark robe, appeared gracefully.
It seemed he arrived earlier than expected—faster than planned. Standing on a high platform, Kaoru gazed at the scene of the third base and softly said, "Everyone in the organization, listen up. Any intruders who enter this place, kill on sight immediately…"
"Uchiha Obito, even if you come, what new variables can you introduce?"
"Yeah, what could those variables be?"
Like a dialogue across space and time, Kaoru's figure twisted and spun in the air. "Uchiha Obito, what a long-lost name."
First, a voice, then a figure—Obito, wearing a vortex-shaped mask, stood silently before Kaoru.
"Uchiha Obito, what a long-lost name," Kaoru sighed softly.
"Long-lost?" Obito chuckled, then shook his head lightly. "Are you referring to the name itself being long, or the meaning behind it?"
"Who knows," Obito shrugged, eyeing Kaoru with a hint of amusement. "I've thought about many people becoming obstacles to my ideals, but I never expected it to be you, Uchiha Kaoru."
"This voice and tone..." Kaoru didn't answer Obito's question but closed his eyes to sense something. "It seems you're not just playing Madara; deep down, you probably already see yourself as me. How pathetic."
Obito fell silent, not replying to Kaoru's lament, but his slightly narrowed eyes revealed a sense of oppression.
"Genjutsu?" Kaoru whispered mockingly. "I'm different from you. You're the tail end, always behind Kakashi. I'm a genius. For you to use genjutsu on me—how laughable."
"Uchiha Obito... how do you know that name?" Seeing his genjutsu ineffective, Obito had no choice but to give up. He pretended not to hear Kaoru's taunts and instead asked.
"Heh... guess..." Kaoru continued to mock without answering.
"No matter how you know," Obito said, "Uchiha Obito has already disappeared..." Hearing his name called again, a trace of nostalgia and melancholy flickered in his only exposed Sharingan. "Anyway, to me now, that name means nothing."
"Uchiha Madara... is my real name now," Kaoru declared loudly, recalling all his plans and the world he envisioned, speaking in the tone of Uchiha Madara.
"Then tell me—where is Nagato?!" Obito asked fiercely, staring at Kaoru.
"You're not after Nagato, are you? You want his Rinnegan, right?" Kaoru replied with a question instead of answering directly.
"......" Obito remained silent, his vigilance deepening. Why does Kaoru, who owns that pair of eyes, seem to know everything? Is there something he doesn't know?
"Uchiha Obito... do you think having me here will let you take the Rinnegan?" Kaoru continued calmly, with a hint of mockery, looking directly at Obito.
"Is that so... but who can say what the outcome will be?" Obito's tone remained noncommittal, but the heavy look in his eyes betrayed his inner turmoil—he wasn't at peace.
It seems Kaoru's goal... is also the Rinnegan...
What he doesn't know is—what exactly is Kaoru's true purpose for wanting the Rinnegan?
Obito watched Kaoru's graceful figure, pondering his true intentions carefully.
"Such confidence..." Kaoru chuckled inwardly at Obito's seemingly unconcerned attitude, but his eyes revealed a cold glint.
"If you're so confident..." Kaoru said with a teasing smile, slowly spreading his hands in front of Obito.
"So, if I stand here now, how must you do to kill me?"
What does he mean?!
Seeing Kaoru's move, Obito's face showed confusion and doubt.
What is this? Standing here, letting me kill him...?
Kaoru knows my name, but does he also know the secret of my power? Even the Six Paths of Pain failed—maybe because he knows Pain's abilities...
"Lord Kaoru, do you need our help?!" Seeing a stranger suddenly appear in their base, the members of the organization emerged.
"Not right now. Just watch from the side," Kaoru responded calmly, his Sharingan still fixed on Obito.
But the scene in front of them was utterly baffling.
Kaoru stood confidently before Obito, seemingly inviting attack, yet Obito, that so-called Uchiha Obito, didn't seem willing to strike rashly.
What exactly is going on…?
Some of the clueless organization members stared in confusion, unsure what to make of the scene.
