Chapter 2 - Hotel shower

A loud buzzing filled the dimly lit room Isla laid in.

Stretching her arm across the bed, she silenced the alarm clock. She was already awake, her mind swirling with conflicting thoughts, hypotheticals and shaky plans for the last 3 hours.

Sitting up, she looked forward and saw herself in the horizontal mirror that covered the wall and faced the hotel bed. The sight infront of her was enough to make her grimace, her hazel eyes blood shot from the poor sleep and her hair unkempt.

After stretching her arms and standing up, she walked toward the linen curtains that hung along the right side wall- opening them to look at the day ahead of her.

She'd never been to this city before, Seattle was an hour outside of the Flyleaf Pack Territory that she would soon visit. It had been a long journey to this point, mainly via train, and some of it through hiking. She had been on her own for 2 winters, passing through new places hoping that she would find who she was searching for.

After an unknown amount of time staring out the window and people watching, she turned around and walked toward the walnut side table that held her phone. Checking the messages, she saw that she had a message from Claire. 'On my way! See you soon x'

Her breath hitched. She would be here in the next hour, no turning back now.

Isla decided a shower was in order, and she needed to do something about that hair..

Switching on the water, she stepped into the shower and audibly relaxed when the warm water fell over her shoulders and down her back.

The sound of her phone buzzing pulled her out of her daydreaming, and she swiftly turned off the water, stepping out and wrapping herself in a white fluffy towel.

It was another text from Claire "I'll be there in 25".

Isla wiped her phone screen on her towel to remove the condensation that had formed, and unlocked the phone to respond.

'Meet you downstairs :)' she wrote, quickly placing the phone down on the counter once sent. She shook her head at herself, had she really just stood there for over half an hour?

She moved quickly and got dressed, brushed her teeth, her hair and packed her small number of belongings into her tattered bag. Lacing up her boots, she lifted her head to quickly scan the room and make sure she had packed everything away.

Closing the hotel room door behind herself, she walked out with her bag toward the elevator and stepped back to wait. Every second spent waiting for the elevator felt like an hour, as the suspense of seeing her friend for the first time in years gripped her thoughts.

The silver doors eventually parted and she stepped inside, pressing the button that would take her to ground floor. After stepping out, Isla handed her key card to the front desk to check out, and turned to walked outside into the street.
