"I don't know why you're telling me this, Mina. It'll change nothing."
"I know you're Hansel's Veylar. The one person in the world who can control his Raze." She leaned forward slightly. "Do you even understand what that means? What you're walking away from?"
"I know enough."
"No." Mina's voice was firm. "You don't. So let me explain something to you. Let me tell you exactly what happens if you leave Hansel."
I should leave right? I wanted to walk out and not hear whatever she was about to say, but I was curious. This world, oblivious to humans, was beginning to sound interesting.
"Every werewolf has a wolf inside them," Mina began. "It's part of who we are. But the Raze—" She shook her head. "The Raze is different. It's not a wolf. It's a mutation. An ancient, violent entity that awakens when the host endures severe betrayal, soul-deep grief, or bloodline disruption."
