To tell the story of the Dark Dynasty there are two important and brutal incidents that have to be mentioned. The first occurred during one of Black Mask's title defenses.
Black Mask had defeated several high profile opponents to retain his SWF Universal Championship. He even had a brutal series of matches against former champion Super Maxx that took the former title holder to places he never thought he'd have to go. However, recently he had been choosing newer and up and coming fighters for his title defenses.
This led to a long string of quick non competitive matches for him. This only made the fans more and more restless as they longed for the days that Black Mask used to be the most entertaining man in the sport.
One such title defense was during the main event of an episode of Friday Night Knockdown. Black Mask faced an opponent by the name of Cecil Anchors. A man with roughly as many defeats as he had victories. It was clear that he stood no chance against Black Mask.
The match started just as everyone had expected. Black Mask was throwing his opponent around the ring and mercilessly beating him down. The problem occurred when Black Mask when for his finishing move, the Execution Drop.
He did the move just as he had done with countless opponents before. However, this is where the incident really started.
"Oh! And here we are again. Another match another Execution Drop. This is probably it for a man who probably wasn't ready for a match of this magnitude." Ted announced. "The referee is starting the count."
"1!"
"2!"
The match should have ended there, but inexplicably, the near unconscious Cecil managed to barely touch his toes to the rope.
"I-I can't believe what we just saw! That's a rope break! Cecil Anchors actually managed to survive the Execution Drop! That's incredible!" Ted announced excitedly. This had also been the first time that the crowd had cheered the entire show.
This had angered Black Mask to the extreme. He couldn't stand the idea of the crowd getting behind someone who was so clearly inferior to him, especially over something that was clearly a fluke.
Black Mask grabbed the still stunned Anchors by the hair and lifted him up to eye level. "Who do you think you are you pathetic mongrel? You can count the amount of men that have survived the Execution Drop on one hand, and now YOU or all people are among them? RIDICULOUS!!!!"
Black Mask proceeded to repeatedly smash his face into the canvas before stomping his now motionless body until the blood splattered all over the ring.
"A- Alright I think I'm going to call the match now. Y- You won. Congratulations sir." The referee said to Black Mask nervously.
The referee's words had no effect on Black Mask whatsoever. He continued the brutal beating with no regard for the fact that the match was over.
"Since you like to touch the ropes with your feet, I'll make sure that you can never move your feet again." Black Mask said as spring-boarded off the ropes and came down with a stomp on his leg that shattered it before doing the same to the other.
"Oh! Oh my goodness!" Ted exclaimed. "The- The match was over, hey ref the match was over aren't you supposed to do something?"
The referee was too afraid to say or do anything. The rest of the crowd was in stunned silence in the wake of such unrestrained brutality. Black Mask ripped his belt out of the referee's hands and put it around his waist.
This violent outburst caused outrage from fans and competitors alike. They wanted disciplinary action against Black Mask, but none would ever come.
We've reviewed the incident during the recent title fight, and we've made the determination that no disciplinary action will be taken against Black Mask at this time. We assessed that he was unaware that the match was over. Therefore his actions during the match fall within the rules. Triple P said during a press conference.
Nobody was buying the story that Triple P was trying to sell. Many fans petitioned that Black Mask and the Dark Dynasty be released from the organization. Though obviously such a thing never happened.
This controversy would not stop the brutal tactics of the Dark Dynasty's rise. In fact, they would only continue to increase the intensity of their brutality.
The next major incident would take place when Twilight Killer defended his SWF Heavyweight Championship against the former SWF International Champion Bruiser Bolt.
