Being a hunter was free and unrestrained, while holding a position brought expectations and duty's.
Usually holding an official position didn't tie you down to much responsibility unless you were the president or vice president.
But in order to prove herself Menchi was given a mission, it was standard procedure and not very difficult.
During her exam she didn't need to take the usual combat assessment thanks to her recorded fights in heaven's arena, nor did this mission require fighting.
She had to teach someone who passed the hunter exam Nen.
Something she already had experience in and explained.
But the association was lacking one teacher, and Menchi had to fill in the gap.
This was a frustrating task, because it could be done fast if they force open the person's aura nodes. But really long if done the natural way.
Not to mention she didn't know the natural method, and would have to teach like shooting into the dark to hit a target.
A few days later, the exam finished and Menchi was given a folder about somebody to locate and teach.
With Rogan passing, he was free to do whatever he wished.
Meanwhile, Menchi went to meet a woman named Yuki.
A twenty five year old Hunter.
Roman didn't get involved. Letting Menchi deal with it, and figure things out herself.
But somehow it wasn't even a week later that the woman had awakened her Nen.
And Menchi wanted to bring her to explore greed island while they train.
Roma didn't have a problem with that, it would give him more opportunities to zone out and study inscriptions.
So the next day they entered greed island, with Roman once again staying in the entrance for an extended period of time to study the inscriptions once again.
After that, Roman took a back seat, allowing Menchi to explore, and make their group's decisions and to lead the way.
Exploring the island and town, collecting cards and fighting other Nen users.
Yuki, Menchi's second student, learned all of the basics and advanced techniques. She even developed her own Hatsu.
Unfortunately Roman was burdened when her Nen category was revealed as a manipulator.
So Roman had to help out and pushed her to manipulate something he was curious about himself. The abstract concept of suggestions.
It was one of the most powerful abilities of his soulmark, though it was neglected and couldn't effect Nen users.
He even planned on sacrificing it to strengthen its other abilities, but he was curious what its full potential could do.
It was useful for when he was younger to get his way with adults, but now that they were a little older, had strength and a hunters license. It wasn't as much use to him.
After all money held sway over even hunters and didn't require much work to obtain in contrast to the training and dedication needed to cultivate this auxiliary suggestion power of his.
With his already basic understanding of the concept his teachings were effective and Yuki grasped the concept easier than anticipated.
Experimenting with how Yuki's suggestion power interacted with his own suggestive ability of his soul mark.
Roman was able to understand clashes between manipulators a lot better.
Using Menchi as the test subject, and having her not resist.
They learned that direct manipulation of Yuki's suggestive power held an advantage over Roman indirect manipulation of suggestive power.
This concept should be followed if someone wanted to manipulate Menchi's body.
Romans first-come first-served advantage would be negated by a manipulator with a Hatsu that gave direct access to manipulate her body.
It would turn into a fight between wills. With the help of Menchi's own will, she was basically safe from all manipulation attacks. Unless of course the opponent had a will and Nen stronger than both of them combined.
The magic with suggestions were that they were generally not detectable or noticeable.
Allowing you to manipulate somebody without their own knowledge.
"We know how to get ninety nine cards now, with no sign of the last card, and we still need to make a team to challenge the 'strip of beach.'" Menchi spoke with a frown on her face and hands on her hips.
They weren't trying to complete the game, Roman made sure of that so as not to draw attention.
He had used almost all of the cards they gained to further study how everything worked.
And nobody even wanted to complete all the tasks all over again.
"Are we going to find people to help out?" Yuki asked.
Roman had his own thoughts about this, but didn't speak them.
The 'Strip of beach' was guarded by Razor, one of the only real people who were a part of the game, and an admin at that.
He was powerful and his pirate lackeys weren't weak almost at the level of the phantom troupe in their prime.
In order to challenge him you needed fifteen people and eight needed to beat Razor and his lackeys in various games and challenges to obtain the card.
With Roman, Yuki and Menchi, they needed twelve others.
Menchi and Roman could guarantee victories for the team, but finding six more was hard.
Considering that they didn't want the card. It would be easy to get one team to join them, but no team had twelve members.
So they would need multiple teams and that would bring many difficulties about who would obtain the card.
Everybody was here to complete the game afterall.
"We can try." Menchi compromised, willing to not take on the challenge.
Not too many people knew the specifics of the 'strip of beach.' Only knowing that it was difficult, the general area of it and that it was probably best to do last.
After being in the game for close to a year, they had basically interacted with everybody notable.
Summoning her game book, Menchi pulled out a card and yelled a command.
The next second everybody was wisped away into the sky and into the distance.
After a few seconds they reappeared, landing on ground surrounded by three strangers. All alert, not sure who was arriving.
These strangers were all women, and the group Menchi had the best relationship with.
"Ringa! It's me!" Menchi noticed the situation and spoke, moving toward a tall dark blonde woman.
"Oh Menchi, why are you here?" Everyone visibly dropped their guard and huddled around Menchi.
Allowing her to explain their goal in challenging the strip of beach.
"We need to win eight games, so we need at least eight people in total, but probably fourteen people." Menchi explained.
"But is it safe?" Naple, a larger but more timid woman in Ringa's group asked.
Greed island was known to be dangerous, so people were cautious.
Nobody knew what strange thing would unexpectedly take their life.
"Don't worry, not everybody needs to participate in a game, and you can always forfeit your game." Menchi comforted everyone's worry's.
"Do you have a plan?" Ringa asked.
"Uh well, our group can guarantee two victories, so we're trying to find six others." Menchi didn't really know what to say.
"But do you know the games, and the stronger opponents?" Ringa pressed, and Menchi just shook her head
So Roman spoke up, knowing more.
"The games are sports related; boxing, soccer, bowling, sumo, basketball, wrestling, and ping-pong are all confirmed." He paused.
"Those are all one-on-one games, the real challenge is the leader who plays dodge-ball. He will most likely make it a team game, but I'm confident in beating him, so everybody who joins the game can withdraw once the game begins." Roman finished.
"Hmm, so are all the one-on-one games just to waste our teams strength?" A girl with short dark hair named Suzune, who was quiet and thoughtfully questioned.
"Oh you saw through it?" Roman raised a brow.
"Yes, all the games except for dodge ball are much easier and are only important enough to trigger the dodge ball game." Roman explained.
"So that's it." Naple felt more confident.
"Are you sure we can have the card?" Ringa asked once more.
"Yes!" Menchi responded enthusiastically.
"Alright then, if that's the case it's time to call in some favors." Ringa summoned her book and used a number of cards to contact some people.
"Ringa, how many people can you get?!" Menchi got excited seeing how many people she was contacting.
"Everyone that we need, c'mon to Soufrabi!" Ringa summoned a card and everybody was wisped into the air flying into the distance.
Soufrabi was the town that the strip of beach was located in, along with the pirates that guarded it.
Landing on a beach, all six of them looked into the sky, seeing a number of people being wisped toward them. No doubt everyone she contacted.
Landing, two groups appeared, one was a group of six big men all appearing rogue and unrestrained. The second was of three youths.
