Thomas Wayne medical Clinic
2 weeks after The Doctor arrived
Dr.Leslie Thompkins POV:
If you had asked Dr. Thompkins a couple of weeks ago who the strangest person she'd ever met was,
She would have given you only one name. But now?
There were two names at the top of that list:
Bruce Wayne and Markus Asklepios.
It was scary how similar yet different they were.
They were both geniuses, no questions asked.
Yet the way they acted couldn't have been more different.
Bruce acted as though every moment he spent in public as Bruce Wayne was torture, like he was playing a part he didn't want to play.
But Markus didn't. She knew plenty of doctors who had completely different personalities when they were off work.
Markus, however, was always the same: gentle, funny, and observant.
One thing Markus and Bruce had in common was that they were both immensely dedicated to their respective 'work.'
But Markus knew when to stop.
She had originally thought Markus was the type who only knew how to work and would eventually work himself to the bone.
But much to her surprise, he knew when to take a break. He even went out for drinks with some of their colleagues at a nearby club.
These past couple of weeks had been the best she'd had since the Joker forced the hospital to close.
They were still very busy, but at least they weren't overflowing with patients.
And to top it all off, Bruce had made a huge donation, which they used to expand the clinic and hire more employees.
They even built a surgical center.
And once again, she was blown away by Markus's skills.
A boy no older than seventeen had arrived at the clinic. He and his parents had been going out for dinner when they were mugged. The mugger had a gun, and when the boy tried to tackle him, he was shot in the chest.
The bullet had pierced his left lung and lodged dangerously close to his heart.
When he arrived at the clinic, he was immediately rushed into surgery, with Markus taking charge of his care from the moment he arrived.
The surgery was extremely difficult. His left lung had been punctured and was filling with blood, while the bullet's position was interfering with his heart's function.
Watching Markus perform the surgery was almost magical.
He sealed the damage to the lung, cauterized the bleeding, and suctioned out the accumulated blood.
Then he located and removed the bullet, carefully cauterizing any remaining sources of bleeding.
He was incredibly efficient and fast.
It looked like he'd performed that exact surgery a million times.
A surgery that would have demanded everything from an experienced surgeon and taken around four to five hours,
Markus completed in just two.
The boy was out of danger and expected to make a full recovery.
She and the other doctors were amazed.
After he finished the surgery, she had practically ordered Markus to rest and go home.
Markus agreed to rest in the doctors' lounge, but insisted he was still on shift.
That was another thing he and Bruce had in common.
They were both stubborn.
She eventually gave up trying to send him home and assigned Markus to regular clinic duty instead.
Leslie knew that boy was a miracle, and she was certain he would go on to accomplish great things.

Markus POV:
"Hello there, I'm Doctor Markus—" My voice dies in my throat as I look at my patient.
A woman.
Young, probably between twenty and twenty-five.
She looks withdrawn and frightened.
She's sitting on the examination table, hugging her knees to her chest in an attempt to comfort herself.
But she winces slightly in pain.
Probably from her abdomen, or perhaps somewhere lower.
She looks like she's been crying.
She flinches when she notices me.
'Oh no...' I think.
"Hi, my name is Markus, and I'll be treating you today," I tell her gently, keeping my distance to give her some space.
"What's your name, miss?" I ask, keeping my voice as calm and gentle as possible.
"A-Ashley Wilkins," the poor girl stammers.
"May I call you Ashley?" I ask her.
She hesitates for a moment before nodding.
"So, Ashley, what brings you to our clinic today?" I ask.
"I've been feeling strange. I'm more tired than usual, and I've been throwing up a lot, and..." She hesitates.
And my heart breaks as I listen to her.
'Please don't be what I think it is,' I pray, but the faint heartbeat coming from her womb shatters my hopes.
"Please, continue. There's no need to feel ashamed or embarrassed. I need to know everything you've been experiencing," I tell her gently.
Ashley takes a deep breath.
"When I go to pee, it hurts, and sometimes I bleed a little," she tells me, her voice growing quieter with every word.
I give her the most reassuring doctor smile I can manage while struggling to contain the raging storm of anger building inside me.
Thankfully, Gamer Mind helps me keep it under control.
"Very well. We'll run some tests to find out what's causing your symptoms. I'll ask a couple of nurses to prepare everything, so just try to relax in the meantime," I tell her.
She panics a little at that.
"I-I'll be alone?" Ashley asks, her voice trembling.
"No, I'll come back as soon as I've spoken to the nurse and keep you company. Don't worry," I reassure her with a gentle smile.
Ashley relaxes a little and gives me a small smile in return.
I leave the room, and the moment I'm out of sight, my smile disappears, replaced by a furious scowl. I can practically feel Gamer Mind working overtime to control my anger.
After a moment, the rage subsides enough for me to think clearly.
I walk down the corridor until I find Liz.
She's an older nurse who's been working here almost since the clinic first opened.
"Hey, Doctor Pretty Face!" Liz greets me.
Ever since we met, we've had a habit of giving each other nicknames.
On a normal day, I would have returned the greeting with a joke.
But today isn't a normal day.
"Liz," I say seriously, watching her straighten up at my tone.
"We have a rape victim in Room Two. I need a complete blood workup as quickly as possible. Also, prepare the appropriate antiviral treatment and a course of antibiotics!" I instruct her.
Liz nods in understanding. She's been a nurse long enough to know that when dealing with sexual assault victims,
Time is essential.
"I'm on it," Liz says, already moving to make the arrangements.
"Liz!" I call out, stopping her in her tracks.
"She's pregnant," I tell her, watching her shoulders slump slightly at the news.
"Is Mary still on duty?" I ask, and she nods.
"Call her as well," I say, and Liz nods before hurrying down the corridor.
"This really isn't a good day," I mutter angrily.
I walk back to the examination room with a very convincing smile on my face.
"Hey, Ashley! I just spoke with Liz. She's practically a veteran around here, and she's preparing some tests to help us figure out what's going on. From what you've told me, I suspect it might just be a urinary tract infection. Nothing to worry too much about," I lie convincingly, watching her shoulders relax as she releases the breath she'd been holding. A tiny, relieved smile appears on her face before she quickly hides it.
"T-Thank you, Doctor," she says in such a quiet voice that, without my super hearing, I probably wouldn't have heard her.
"But I still need to check your vital signs. Is that okay?" I ask, taking the stethoscope from around my neck and showing it to her.
She gives me a hesitant nod but agrees.
I approach her calmly, making sure to remain within her field of vision as much as possible. Then I place my stethoscope against her back, between her lungs.
"Take a deep breath," I tell her, and she complies. As I go through the usual auscultation procedure, I discreetly make contact with her and channel a little Mystic Palm into her body, allowing me to examine her condition in detail.
There are several internal injuries along her vaginal walls, accompanied by swelling and inflammation, which explain the bleeding. Her immune system is also struggling, with her white blood cells under attack as HIV wreaks havoc on them, hijacking the cells it infects to reproduce.
I can also sense the baby and its tiny heartbeat. I can already tell it's a girl. Her body is no bigger than an almond at this point, but I can see her genes, the very building blocks of her existence, developing second by second. Thank the Presence, the virus hasn't been transmitted to her yet, and the placenta is still protecting her.
'The monster who did this to her also infected her with HIV,' I think angrily as I do my best to remain calm for her sake. I begin healing her body. Ever since I became a god, especially with Medicine and Chakra as two of my domains, I've been able to heal people with little more than a glance and a bit of chakra. Honestly, I'm pretty sure I'm practically an Otsutsuki at this point. I can create Kekkei Genkai on the fly, and even high-level jutsu are as simple as solving a one-plus-one equation.
After purging the virus from her body, removing every trace of it from her cells, and beginning the process of healing her injuries, I step back. I've made sure she can't feel the healing itself, but she definitely notices the pain starting to subside after a few minutes.
"Okay! Your breathing sounds good, and your pulse is strong. Now all that's left is for Liz to come and take you for your tests, and then we'll get to the bottom of this!" I tell her cheerfully, helping her relax even more.
"A-Are you going to stay with me?" she asks, unable to hide the fear in her eyes. After experiencing something so traumatic, people often need an anchor, someone they can hold on to, and it seems I've become that person for her.
"Of course! You're my patient and my responsibility! I'm not going anywhere until you're feeling better!" I vow, feeling my Divinity flare in response to my words. I pretend not to notice it.
"Thank you, Doctor Markus!" she says, her eyes growing a little teary, though she manages to hold herself together remarkably well.
We start making small talk, gradually getting to know each other. She's from Gotham, born and raised. I already knew that, of course, since her body carries what I like to call the Gotham Factor. Seriously, Gotham's water supply is a biological hazard waiting to happen. She's a student at Gotham University, studying journalism, and her idol is Lois Lane. I'm pretty sure Lois would be flattered to hear that.
I tell her a little about my childhood, my parents (from my first life, since Hades and Hippolyta don't exactly deserve those titles), my years of studying, and why I decided to come to Gotham.
After a good conversation in which we both open up quite a bit, I hear Liz's heartbeat approaching the room.
"Doctor, we've finished preparing the examination room," she says, giving us a smile. But I can see the sadness behind it when she looks at Ashley.
"Okay! Let's go get you checked out!" I say, doing my best Bugs Bunny impression, which manages to draw a laugh from both Liz and Ashley. We make our way to the examination room, where we perform some routine blood work and a few more specialized tests. But the truly heartbreaking part comes when Mary arrives.
Mary is both our gynecologist and our safeguarding officer. She's responsible for handling cases where we suspect or determine that a patient has suffered abuse or is in a dangerous situation.
What follows is one of the hardest experiences I've had since being reincarnated into this world.
I can practically feel Ashley's pain as she somehow finds the strength to recount what happened to her. She was on her way home when it happened. She managed to make it back to her apartment, but she stayed there afterward, too frightened to leave. Eventually, the pain became too much to bear, and she came to us.
All I can do is support her through it. I've developed so many healing jutsu and spells that I'm fairly certain I could heal an entire planet at once if I really wanted to. For Ashley, though, I use a few simple ones, making sure she'll be able to sleep without nightmares tormenting her. Interestingly, when I cast the spell, I feel a pair of enormous eyes watching me from somewhere beyond this plane of existence. I quickly conceal myself from their gaze. I'm pretty sure those eyes belong to a certain Endless.
Once everything is finished, we settle Ashley into a private room so she can rest. Liz and Mary begin the paperwork and prepare the necessary report for the police. Unfortunately, I doubt the GCPD will accomplish much. Ashley never saw the monster's face, and Gotham's police department is one of the worst I've ever had the displeasure of encountering, even if Commissioner Gordon has practically worked a miracle with what he was given.
But I'm different.
That's the funny thing about certain diseases, especially HIV. The virus uses healthy cells to reproduce, leaving behind genetic information that can be traced. In my case, that gives me something to follow, a biological trail connecting one infected person to another. And guess who can see and analyze DNA from orbit?
I head to the bathroom and create a shadow clone.
"Give him hell, boss," my clone says, giving me a steely nod, which I return. I've been far too passive lately. I'm not interested in playing the hero, but right now, I can certainly play the monster. The Doctor and the Monster. I can be both.
With a thought, my coat, pants, and shirt melt and shift into my Plague Doctor outfit. I feel the mask settle over my face as I activate my Sharingan.
"Time's up," I mutter, barely containing my anger. I rise into the air, passing through the clinic's rooftop as though it were water. I keep flying until I'm hovering above the city's cloud line, then turn my gaze downward. I can see and hear everything: the people, cars, animals, every little detail of Gotham's sprawling streets.
I see crimes in progress, shootings, bar fights, and even monsters preparing to do to someone else what Ashley suffered. With that, I decide it's time to make my true introduction.
I gather both chakra and magic in my hands before releasing them across the city. Criminals, rapists, and people preparing to hurt others suddenly freeze in place before collapsing to the ground, writhing in agony. They feel as though billions of red-hot needles are stabbing every inch of their bodies, even their internal organs.
They scream in absolute agony. Some pass out, but even unconsciousness offers them no escape from the pain. The whole thing lasts no more than ten seconds, but to them, it feels like an eternity. When it finally stops, those who can still stand scramble to their feet and run, their desire for violence completely forgotten. All they want is to get as far away from that horrible pain as possible.
Seeing that my version of the Cruciatus Curse works even better than expected, I turn my attention to my actual target. I scan the entire city for the DNA signature I've memorized, and eventually, I find it. In the Warrens, inside an old apartment filled with garbage and drugs, sits a man watching television. His body is pumped full of various substances, and his organs are on the verge of failure, with his kidneys being in particularly bad shape.
I don't bother knocking. I simply appear in front of him and grab him by the neck.
"W-WOAH! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU?!" he shouts as I hold him up.
"AAAGH!" He tries to punch me in the face, but I feel the bones in his hand shatter the moment his fist connects with my mask.
"Matthew Lorkin! You are scum. A parasite, a disease upon this world, and I simply cannot tolerate your existence," I say, my voice dripping with disgust and venom. With a flick of my wrist, I throw him onto his filthy couch. I'm holding back enough not to tear him apart, but the impact still hurts, and the poor couch collapses beneath him.
"ARGH!" I hear him scream as both his legs break against the couch.
"Your actions have consequences, Matthew. And I am those consequences..." I activate my Mangekyo Sharingan, and I'm not going to lie, I take a certain satisfaction in watching his expression twist with terror.
"Oh God! Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name..." He starts praying, probably for the first time in his miserable life. I don't interrupt him. Instead, I crouch down to his eye level and grab his jaw.
"You're a disease, Matthew, and you have to pay for what you've done... I smell pestilence on you!" I say as I feel my eyes shift, and then I plunge into his mind.
His screams echo through the deepest abyss of his consciousness.

"Hey, Markus! Liz told me what happened today. I know cases like this never get easier, and they never will. But if you need someone to talk to, I'm here for you," Leslie offers, giving me a small, sad smile.
I return her smile.
"I might take you up on that, Leslie. After the day I've had, I could really use something to lighten the mood" I tell her honestly.
"Then let's go! I know a pizza place that serves the best pizza in Gotham!" she says enthusiastically, and I can't help but match her energy.

GCPD
19:00 PM
Detective Harvey Bullock's POV:
"Repeat that one more time!" I tell the rookie, who looks just as flustered as he did the first time.
"The guy just jumped out in front of us and demanded to be arrested! Then he started confessing to everything. He admitted what he'd done and even wrote out a full confession before we brought him to the station. He looked like a junkie and wouldn't stop muttering until we locked his ass in a cell," the rookie recounts for the third time.
"Well... does his confession match what the victims reported?" I ask his senior partner, who gives me a serious nod. I can understand why. As one of the oldest non-corrupt officers on the force, I've seen my fair share of scumbags, and this guy certainly qualifies. Even with him turning himself in, the whole thing leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
"He also confessed to several other crimes. Some we already knew about, others not so much. What do you think happened, Detective?" the senior officer asks, making me let out a tired groan.
"Knowing Gotham, it could be anything. Some mumbo-jumbo, or maybe nothing supernatural at all. Hell, maybe he found one of Scarecrow's old stashes and decided to smoke it. Wouldn't be the first time that's happened. Only instead of ripping his own eyes out, this bastard had a really bad trip and started seeing his victims crawling out of his ass. Do me a favor and get the forensic guys to run a drug test on the asshole. I want him locked up for good, not walking free because some lawyer argues he confessed while high," I order, and the pair nod in understanding.
'Fucking Gotham!' I think as I return to my paperwork.
