Chapter 560 - Coordination

The guild was still crowded, but it no longer felt like just a place for missions. The atmosphere had changed. Voices were lower, decisions faster, and eyes more alert. No one there treated it like routine.

We left with a new mission in hand, but this time it wasn't just about solving a specific problem. It was about how we would do it.

As we walked through the streets of Vailor toward the exit, I kept silent for a few moments. I needed to organize everything before speaking. It was no longer possible to rely only on individual combat awareness. The enemy was coordinated. We needed to be as well.

When we crossed the city gates, I stopped.

The group automatically slowed down.

"Let's adjust the way we operate," I said.

Liriel crossed her arms, attentive. "About time."

"It worked so far," Lyannis replied with a slight smile.

"It worked because they were testing," Vespera said. "Now we don't know anymore."

Scarlett looked directly at me. "What do you have in mind?"

I took a breath before continuing.

"Each of you is strong on your own," I began. "But that's no longer enough. If they're coordinating attacks across multiple points, we need to respond as a single body."

Elara nodded slowly. "A real formation, then."

"Yes."

Rai'kanna stepped forward. "Define roles."

I looked at each of them, organizing positions in my mind.

"Rai'kanna, you stay at the center. Impact line. Anything that comes head-on, you hold."

She didn't answer with words, just confirmed with her gaze.

"Liriel, interception. Nothing gets past you before reaching the center."

"Understood," she said.

"Scarlett and Elara, flanks. Full coverage. Don't let any openings form. If one side is pressured more, adjust between yourselves."

Scarlett nodded. Elara did the same, already analyzing possibilities.

"Vespera, field control. Movement, reading, support wherever needed."

"Perfect," she replied.

"Lyannis, free flank. You move where needed. Fast strikes, disrupt the rhythm."

Lyannis smiled. "Just how I like it."

They all looked at me.

"And you?" Scarlett asked.

"Overall coordination," I replied. "Reading and adjustment."

The silence that followed wasn't doubt. It was understanding.

It wasn't just task division.

It was structure.

We continued on our way, but now the pace was different. There was no need to discuss anything further. Each of them already knew exactly their role.

The village indicated in the mission was a bit farther away, but the signs along the path were similar to before. Rarely used trails, absence of civilian movement, and subtle traces of passage.

"Same pattern," Liriel said.

"But not necessarily the same group," Vespera added.

"That means they're spread out," Scarlett said.

"Or coordinated from multiple points," Elara replied.

When we arrived at the village, the situation was more tense than the previous one. There were clear signs of a recent attack. Some damaged structures, deeper marks on the ground, and fewer villagers in sight.

A man approached quickly.

"You're from the guild?"

"Yes," I replied.

"We've already been attacked twice," he said, not hiding his concern. "Yesterday was worse."

"Same as the other village?" Liriel asked.

"No," the man replied. "They came from more directions."

I looked at the group.

"Confirmed," Vespera said quietly.

"We'll take over the defense tonight," I said.

The man nodded, clearly relieved.

We spent the rest of the day observing the village structure. This time, we didn't make visible changes. We didn't set obvious traps. Only positioning and awareness.

When night fell, the group was already in formation.

No need for adjustments.

No need for repeated instructions.

Each one in her place.

The first attack didn't take long.

Unlike the previous village, they didn't come from a single direction. Small groups appeared at different points, advancing almost at the same time.

"Lateral movement," Vespera said.

"Intercepting," Liriel replied, already moving.

The first contact happened on the central line. Rai'kanna took the impact without stepping back, absorbing the force and breaking the direct advance. There was no disorganization.

It worked.

On the right flank, Scarlett and Elara were already in position. Without hesitation, they closed the gap before the enemies could spread.

"Control maintained," Elara said.

"No advance," Scarlett added.

Lyannis appeared soon after, fast, attacking where there was an opening and retreating before being surrounded.

"They're trying to force an opening," she said.

"They won't succeed," I replied.

I moved between points, adjusting as needed. It wasn't about fighting directly. It was about keeping the flow under control.

And it worked.

Even with multiple attack points, there was no breach.

None of them had to leave their role.

No space was opened.

The goblins tried to advance, retreat, change pace.

But there was no disorganization on our side.

They were coordinated.

We were more.

After a few minutes, the pattern repeated.

Retreat.

Clean.

Without persistence.

Without desperation.

Silence returned, but this time with a clear difference.

Liriel looked around, breathing steadily. "Much better."

Rai'kanna relaxed slightly. "No real pressure."

Scarlett analyzed the ground. "They didn't manage to test anything new."

"Because we didn't give them space," Elara said.

Lyannis crossed her arms, still with a slight smile. "Now it's easy."

"No," I replied.

They all looked at me.

"It's clear," I continued. "They're going to escalate."

Vespera nodded slowly. "Because now they know this doesn't work."

The group fell silent for a moment.

But it wasn't doubt.

It was understanding.

I looked toward the darkness beyond the village.

"They're adjusting," I said. "And so are we."

Scarlett stepped forward. "So the next stage…"

"Will be stronger," I finished.

The wind passed lightly through the village, carrying a different kind of silence.

It was no longer uncertainty.

It was preparation.

And this time… we weren't just reacting.
