Chapter 271 - Chapter 270 mother box Falls

The Justice League all thought the source of this crisis was only Doomsday, but they were wrong.

Doomsday might have been a very tricky problem on Earth in the original movie or on other Planets, but in front of this Earth with numerous Super Heroes, he was still not enough.

Someone saw this very clearly.

No one would have thought, even Dane, that the Doomsday crisis was not entirely due to Lex Luthor's arrogance; behind him, there was also a dark hand controlling it.

Let's push time back a little. While the Justice League was collectively dealing with Doomsday, an uninvited guest arrived at the Amazons' stronghold on Paradise Island.

The Amazons guarding the mother box sensed its abnormality and immediately called for the Queen, but when Queen Hippolyta rushed to the scene, a Boom Tube suddenly appeared above the mother box.

Amidst the "buzzing" sound waves, a large group of Parademons, like flies, flew out.

"Amazons—! Attack!"

Hippolyta flung off her cloak, revealing the exquisite armor beneath, a demigod artifact made with a small amount of Nth metal.

She was not a god or a demigod, so she could not perfectly utilize the artifact's power.

But as a demigod artifact, only slightly inferior to a divine artifact, it could effectively unleash Hippolyta's inherent 09 combat power.

Moreover, the Parademons' strength was not great, at least not for these well-trained elite Amazon female warriors. Their only advantage was that they could fly and had hot weapons.

So most of the time, they could bully people with air superiority.

But the place where the Amazons stored the mother box was a completely enclosed Base with only one exit, surrounded by the hardest basalt, so the Parademons could not utilize their advantage at all.

And the Amazon elites were all expert archers who could hit their targets with every shot. At this distance, they could kill those Parademons with their eyes closed.

Therefore, even though they used primitive bows and arrows, they still killed so many Parademons that their bodies covered the ground.

But this situation changed when another person arrived: Steppenwolf descended.

A giant descended from above the Boom Tube into the bunker, collapsing the ancient fortress of a thousand years.

"Amazons…"

Steppenwolf was nearly three meters tall, his entire body encased in silver active metal armor, his eyes glowing with a blue light, and he carried a single-edged giant axe.

As soon as Hippolyta saw him, a deep sense of worry surged in her heart.

"Kill him!"

She shouted loudly, then threw a rope, binding it to the mother box in the center of the bunker.

Steppenwolf noticed her movement and was about to intercept, but he was blocked by a group of fearless Amazon female warriors.

He cleared a path with his axe, directly cutting down several Amazons who grabbed him, and then pursued Hippolyta.

But Hippolyta, who had already reached the exit, had arranged everything. Before Steppenwolf could break through the door, the entire bunker collapsed downwards, falling into the sea at the cliff's edge.

Hippolyta held the mother box and breathed a slight sigh of relief, but before she could finish exhaling, she saw a massive figure soar into the sky and land in front of her.

It was Steppenwolf!

He grabbed Hippolyta's slender neck with one hand and reached for the mother box she held in her arms with the other.

"This is mine!"

However, before he could touch the mother box, his hand was bound by a rope, and Steppenwolf was momentarily caught off guard and pulled.

At this moment, Hippolyta drew the sword from her waist and slashed at Steppenwolf's unprotected face, leaving a shallow wound.

Steppenwolf was hit in the face and instinctively blocked with his hand, which allowed Hippolyta to regain her freedom. She chose not to continue attacking but instead turned and fled!

Steppenwolf was furious. He violently tugged the rope wrapped around his arm, pulling an Amazon warrior towards him, and with a swing of his axe, he cut her in two.

Then he continued to pursue Hippolyta.

Meanwhile, Hippolyta had found a swift horse and was riding it away. She knew that beyond that hill, there was an Amazon Army, ready to fight at any moment!

"Queen!"

At this moment, the female warrior in front looked back and shouted at her.

Hippolyta instinctively looked behind her. Steppenwolf was leaping high, his figure appearing tiny in the sky, but gradually, his figure grew larger and larger; he was approaching her!

Hippolyta gritted her teeth, threw the mother box in her arms to the female warrior in front, and shouted: "Protect it with your life!"

Then she turned her horse around, preparing to face Steppenwolf.

But she miscalculated. Steppenwolf had no interest in her; his eyes were only on the mother box!

So when Hippolyta bravely stood in front of him, Steppenwolf ignored her and went straight after the Amazon warrior ahead.

Hippolyta paused for two seconds, then quickly turned her horse around to chase Steppenwolf.

But for an opponent like Steppenwolf, a horse's speed was still too slow.

He leaped lightly, jumping again to the Amazon holding the mother box, and with a "Iron Mountain Lean" move, he slammed into both the person and the horse. The Amazon warrior was sent flying instantly.

At this moment, Hippolyta threw a rope again, trying to catch the mother box, but this time Steppenwolf was prepared and grabbed the mother box one step faster than her. Then he pulled hard, dragging Hippolyta off her horse.

Because Steppenwolf's strike was too fast, Hippolyta didn't have time to let go. By the time she realized this, she had fallen into Steppenwolf's grasp again.

"You are brave, but your strength is negligible. Look!"

Steppenwolf's gaze shifted elsewhere, and Hippolyta also looked. There, the Amazons were being massacred by Parademons.

Unlike in the movie, where Parademons with flight advantage still landed to engage in close combat with Amazons, the Parademons here knew how to utilize their advantage.

They continuously flew high in the sky, using their excellent dynamic vision and energy weapons to shoot at these primitive people on the ground.

Thus, the battlefield presented a one-sided situation.

"I am surprised. After so many years since the last war, you Amazons are still using such ancient and inefficient combat methods."

Steppenwolf let out a sharp laugh, and the Parademons mercilessly reaped the lives of the Amazons.

All of this caused Hippolyta immense pain.

Steppenwolf enjoyed all of this; he enjoyed the moments of trampling his opponents, but he couldn't waste too much time now.

He was unsure when the World's true Guardian would notice him, so he planned to quickly kill this Amazon Queen and leave.

But as Zeus's mistress, how could Hippolyta not have some means of self-preservation?

Just as Steppenwolf was about to kill her, a powerful lightning burst forth from her body, instantly blasting Steppenwolf away, causing him to land on his back in a giant crater.

Steppenwolf clapped his hands, quickly got up, and looked at the woman opposite him with cold eyes.

"Old Gods' Power!"

Realizing that it might be difficult to kill Hippolyta in a short time, Steppenwolf's mind was clear; he had no intention of continuing to entangle with her.

Since the mother box was already in hand, he should retreat immediately. He still had other mother boxes to collect.

"This is not the end, Amazons, far from it…"

Leaving this sentence, which was either a warning or a premonition, Steppenwolf's head burst open with a Boom Tube, and he disappeared again with his Parademon Army.

At this moment, the Amazon Army assembled behind the hill arrived late.

"Queen!"

Her subordinate adjutant rushed over to help the exhausted Hippolyta up, who then grabbed her.

"mother box, mother box…"

The female adjutant's face was grim, and she whispered, "The mother box has been stolen!"

Hippolyta's mind was greatly shaken, and it took her a while to recover.

"We must light the ancient warning beacon!"

However, the female adjutant hesitated: "Humans have probably forgotten the meaning of the beacon."

But Hippolyta was firm: "But she hasn't!"

Before that, however, the Amazons still needed to bury the dead and clear the battlefield.

And while they were doing these things, Steppenwolf was already rushing non-stop to the next mother box storage location, Atlantis.

That place was even simpler; in the original movie, Mera would occasionally go to guard it, but now, the place Mera visited most was the Surface World, and she hadn't been here for a long time.

So Steppenwolf obtained this mother box without even encountering any decent resistance.

The first person to receive news of the stolen mother box was Arthur, but after hearing it, he just scratched his head and asked in surprise:

"What is a mother box?"
