"I should go now."
Father: "I hope you succeed and bring honor to yourself and the Church."
The old man hugged me.
Old man: "I also hope you succeed, and make your father proud of you in the next world."
Sister Patolina: "I hope you succeed and see the results of all the hardships and training you endured."
After all the encouragement and wishes of success, I finally went to the Academy exam grounds.
The exam site was in the northern part of the city—the designated place for Academy entrance exams and the training grounds for Church knights.
A lot of boys and girls had come—I think over 2,000 people. Some were extremely stressed, some had come with friends and were chatting, some were excited and energetic.
I was distracting myself by looking around when—
My eyes met Lucas's.And with my amazing luck, Lucas and his lackeys walked toward me.
Lucas had changed over the past two years—his completely black hair had turned wheat‑colored, and his face was covered with pimples and freckles.
He walked toward me like he had forgotten how badly I beat him last time—and if his lackeys hadn't helped him, he would've never stood a chance.
Lucas: "Guys, look who's here! Mr. Tom Breach!"
Leonard: "Yes, looks like the boss came to serve you again."
Lucas: "Leonard is right."
Liwart: "Absolutely. Maybe you want to taste the master's boots again?"
They all laughed.
I crossed my arms and said:
"Seems like some people want to get beaten again."
Their laughter stopped.Lucas got angry and shouted:
Lucas: "What did you say?!"
His loud voice drew everyone's attention.
"I said some people have no ability at all. They get beaten like dogs, and if their little lackeys weren't helping, they couldn't do anything."
Lucas: "Looks like you want trouble again, huh?"
Me: "Yes, because as you said—aren't I your servant?A servant who beats his bastard master is actually the king."
Lucas: "You little—!"
He tried to punch me, but—
I grabbed his hand, twisted it,grabbed his hair with my other hand, and forced his head down.
Lucas: "Let go of me, damn it!"
"I didn't hear you. What did you say?"
Lucas: "Shut up, idiot!"
"That's not what I want to hear.Say 'I was wrong,' or I'll break your hand."
I increased the pressure—he screamed louder.
"...You two idiots stop fighting or you'll be disqualified!"
The exam supervisor had arrived.
I let go of Lucas and stood straight.Lucas did the same—though in pain.
The supervisor was clearly a veteran Church knight—his age (over sixty) and the scars on his face, especially his eye, showed he had fought in the Third Wall War, the last major war.
Supervisor: "Well, you idiots are exactly what I expected—two‑legged animals ready to fight at any moment."
He looked at me and Lucas.
"Your exam has three stages. The first two are experimental and practical. The third is oral and written.Understood?"
"Yes!!!"
The three‑stage exam was like this:
Stage 1: Resistance against magic—gravity manipulationStage 2: Death illusionStage 3: Written questions (seven questions)
Supervisor: "Now the first exam begins."
He gave a signal, the courtyard gates closed, and the exam truly started.
I slowly felt magic rising from beneath the ground.
The exam worked like this:several mages manipulated gravity, making the ground pull the examinee downward with great force. You had to resist and not fall.It lasted several minutes.
The pull grew stronger. Most examinees fell.
Groans and screams filled the air.
Out of the 2,000 people, less than 400 were still standing. Then the magic intensified even more—only 200 remained.
I checked the time—ten minutes had passed, and surprisingly, the exam was still going.
The supervisor, clearly a sadist, was enjoying watching people fall. But when he saw me still standing, his excitement vanished—replaced by shock, then anger.
He saw the magic had no effect on meand told the mage next to him to increase the intensity.
The gravity increased so muchthat only Lucas and I remained standing.Lucas eventually fell too.
The supervisor looked at me again.I smiled at him. (:
Supervisor's POV
Hahaha, these idiots think the exam is easy.Everyone was supposed to fail.
But when my eyes met that animal‑like boy—Tom Breach—I felt annoyed.
The gravity had no effect on him.He stood there casually.
"Increase the magic field."
"Yes, sir."
Everyone had fallen except Lucas and Tom.Lucas fell too,but Tom was still standing. No matter how much we increased the magic,it didn't affect him.
And he smiled…
"That bastard smiled at me.I'll make him cry."
But—
The exam overseer signaled me,and I snapped out of it.I ordered the soldiers to stop the magic field.
"Yes, sir."
Finally the magic field was cut.The torture ended—at least for everyone except Tom.
Tom's POV
Everyone slowly stood up.
Supervisor: "Those idiots who passed will have their names called.Go inside for the next exam. The rest—leave."
They opened the gates and read the names. My name was called.I entered.
As I walked in,I saw Lucas yelling at his lackeysfor failing while he passed.
Heh.That idiot thought everyone was like him.I worked day and night, got punished, and earned my place—at least for stage one.
For stage two, we went to the halls.I entered a room, sat on a chair, and waited for the death illusion.
Green gas filled the room.
I entered the illusion.
I found myself on a beach near the sea.Sister Patolina, wearing beach clothes, was lying in my arms smiling at me.Several children—apparently mine—were playing in front of me.
It was repetitive and pleasant.I wanted to stay, but I had to break it for my future.
The source of the illusion was the children—I destroyed themand exited the death illusion.
Supervisor's POV
Let's see what the animal does this time.
"Start the exam."
"Yes!"
"Sir, Tom succeeded in less than three minutes—faster than everyone."
"What? How is that possible?!"
I wanted to test him again, but I feared the overseer would report meand I'd lose my job.
Reluctantly, I said to open the door and let him go.
Tom's POV
I entered the written exam hall and sat down.
A bitter sight—out of 2,000 people, only twenty remained for the written exam. This showed again the lack of resources and trainingand the gap between commoners and nobles.
They handed out the papers.
Heh.So easy.
I answered everything.I intentionally wrote one wrong answerso they wouldn't suspect anything—I was a commoner, a Breach. They'd suspect me otherwise.(Just like my previous life—classmates would intentionally write a few wrong answersso teachers wouldn't suspect cheating.)
"I'm done."
I handed in my paper.Lucas was staring at his paper, confused.
I smiled and left the hall.
Supervisor's POV
What—he finished in less than ten minutes?!How?!
And he left with a ridiculous smile.A kid defeated me.
Two Weeks Later
Two weeks passed since the exam.Ziar had returned to the Church and the Second Wall.I had gone back to painting.
I was painting when the Church door knocked.Sister Eva went to open it.
Sister Eva: "Someone is here for you, Tom."
"Me?"
She nodded. "Yes."
I went to the door and saw a messenger—a Church Knight of Light.
Messenger: "Are you Tom Breach?"
"Yes, that's me. What is it?"
The messenger suddenly kneltand held out a letter.
Messenger: "Congratulations, sir.You passed the Academy entrance exam. Not only that—you have been placed in the Elite Class S.You are in Class S, sir."
What?!I couldn't believe it.I had passed—and in Class S,the six‑star elite classwhere the main characters studied.
I thought I might pass,but not Class S.
Sister Eva screamed in joy, telling everyone I passed Class S.She was clearly very happy.
The messenger handed me the letter.I read it—signed by the Academy Head, David Flor, and the Head of Sponsors and Academy Overseer, the hero's uncle, Arya Flor.
Messenger: "Please go to the Academy offices as soon as possibleto receive your uniform and dormitory documents. If you have no further questions, I'll leave."
"Go."
I was still in shock. How was this possible?
That night, the Church held a huge celebration. Most people from the Third Wall came.Everyone was happy that a commonernot only passed, but entered Class S—where the children of the four great noble familiesand other important figures studied.
The Breach families wished me successand hoped I would lead a rebellion like their ancestors—but I wasn't insane.
They wished their children would become like me.
After the celebration, everyone congratulated me againand gave me gifts.
The most special was from Sister Patolina—a blue rose that never withers.
Sister Patolina: "Alex, this is my gift for you.Maybe it's not worth much, but it will always be beautiful.I hope you succeed in the Academy."
"No, no—this is beautiful."
She left and spoke again with a woman in a cloak—they had been talking together all night.Seemed like an old friend.
After the celebration,I headed to my room—and surprisingly saw Lucas and his father(the man who bullied me in Part 4).
Lucas's father: "Well, well…the poor commoner hero."
He clearly had a plan.
I ignored them and tried to enter my room, but he grabbed my hand.
Lucas's father: "It's rude not to listento the greatest noble of the Third Wall."
"Yeah, but not compared to the four great families."
Lucas's father: "You're not worth answering.Listen carefully—I'm going to the Academy to arrange Class S for my son."
"What?"
He smirked.
"Yes, because you will withdraw.I'll pay you.You don't deserve to be in the elite class. My son will take your place."
How stupid—even if I withdrew, his idiot son couldn't enter Class S.Class C was far below the elite class.
"Yes, you're right.And my answer is…"
I shot a death spiral at his stomach, sending him flying several metersand drawing everyone's attention.
"Listen carefully.I am Tom Breach—the Chosen of the Gods, supported by the Churchand the great Hyper family. If you ever approach me or my loved ones again, with one letter and a few lines, not only you,but your idiot son will be executed. So stop talking nonsense."
"Guards!"
Several Church knights were nearby.
"Throw this idiot and his even more idiotic son out.Charge him double tax for a year. And if he comes within a kilometer of here, inform me—I'll make him cry.All of this will be reported to the Church.Understood?"
Guards: "Yes, sir!!!"
Lucas's father was unconscious, and Lucas was screaming and protestingas they dragged them out.
I was starting to enjoy this.
My second life would continuewith powerful support.
This is my story—the story of a Breach, not a useless side character meant to die.Now I am one of the main charactersmeant to kill others.(That line was heavy—my back broke.)
I am Tom Breach, the strongest person in the Third Wall.
End of Part 23
