Chapter 200 - Cap.185 - Acting as an Unwinged Angel

(Toji's POV)

Toji didn't stop his antics, the land of the Bears became the stage for his deeds. Every bandit, every criminal, every element that polluted this world, assassins, bandits, rogue ninjas, rapists, whatever he found was impaled.

So, when his serial killer sequence was the first to be completed, he wasn't surprised.

However, it was not the end, acting as a criminal depended almost exclusively on placing bounties with the money obtained, which continued to be their main source of advancement.

He felt he was close to finishing his performance, but sequence 8 was the real problem.

Coldblooded, Unwinged Angel, two names, the meaning is the same. What he had already discovered about it was that he needed to put his emotions aside.

No.

He needed to define his values, that what he was doing was wrong, but to do it anyway, distancing himself further and further from those emotions and values.

Perhaps if he had just arrived in this world, he might classify murder, regardless of the motive, as wrong.

He could classify placing bounties on the heads of people he didn't even know as a bad thing.

But now he had none of that, he felt nothing for killing criminals, he felt nothing for putting bounties on the heads of those nobles who abused their status, even without proof, he didn't believe any of them were clean.

It might have been a generic, one-sided view, but in the end, it was his view.

However, setting aside values to kill random people was something Toji couldn't do. He had found a wall and couldn't cross it without leaving something behind.

Toji had no choice but to seek a middle ground.

Something he thought was bad enough, but at the same time not heavy enough, something that would leave him knowing that even with his insidious actions, good people could rise again.

It was ironic that while he was eating in a small tavern he discovered a path, a path that would shame him more than he could admit.

He was eating, but there was a bratty child, screaming nonstop because he didn't want to eat his vegetables. The mother didn't know what to do, the father pretended not to see, and the customers around frowned, annoyed, but not enough to react.

Toji didn't have that much patience.

He stood up, stomping, went over there, grabbed a huge broccoli floret and shoved it into the screaming child's mouth.

The 'audience' was shocked, but the most shocked was the child who almost choked to death. Toji hit him on the back, hard enough not to hurt the child, but enough to almost throw him out of his chair.

-Idiot! What do you think you're doing?- The father shouted angrily, standing up. Toji just stared at him with cold eyes, his aura fading slightly. The man froze, and not only that, he wet himself.

The child was trying to catch his breath while his mother rushed to help him.

Toji didn't care, he picked up another piece of broccoli, looked at the child, and said. -Either you eat willingly, or you eat unwillingly. Which do you choose?

That day, in that small village in the land of the bears, a story spread, the story of the vegetable demon, which made an entire family wet their pants with fear. The mothers used this story to scare their children who didn't want to eat their vegetables. The boy who was so scared was so afraid that he never refused to eat any vegetables again.

As soon as Toji left, he noticed the change, it was minimal, it was tiny, but it was there. The acting had progressed, he had moved forward in the Unwinged Angel sequence.

Toji finally understood the part about the Angel! Yes, he was truly an angel without wings, an angel on Earth, but one who could still do "good deeds".

During this period, Toji tried again, teaching a child who was afraid of water how to swim.

He grabbed him directly and threw him into the water, much to the shocked eyes of his nearby mother.

-What are you doing?- She yelled, running up clutching her skirt, looking anxiously at her struggling son.

-Teaching him to swim.- Toji replied simply, his hands in his pockets, his eyes fixed on the water.

-Why would you do that?! He doesn't need to learn to swim!- She shouted, filled with anger.

-Everyone needs to learn how to swim.- Toji said simply.

-I never learned to swim! My son doesn't need this!- She yelled again at Toji.

Toji turned his head slowly, looking at the woman with deep thoughts. The woman swallowed hard, for a moment she thought she had said the wrong thing.

Moments later, two figures struggled in the water, mother and son learning to swim together.

Toji watched the pair, feeling his Sequence 8 advancing a little further. The more they struggled, the more Toji felt the potion advancing, even the criminal potion advancing a little more. Toji wondered why, he only wanted to teach mother and son to swim, there was no crime in that.

Yes, he was blatantly lying to himself.

[A/N: I got the inspiration for this scene from a movie, I don't remember the name.]
