Chapter 270: Spatial Storm? I'll Handle It!
Seeing Xiao Yuan's expression, the Luo Clan patriarch seemed to guess what he was thinking. With a bitter smile, he hesitated for a moment before gritting his teeth and saying, "How about this? My Luo Clan is renowned for dealing in magic cores. As a gesture of apology, I'm willing to offer a seventh-rank magic core of your choice. As long as our clan possesses it, you may pick whichever you like. What do you think?"
"A seventh-rank core?" Xiao Yuan's eyes lit up slightly, his expression softening. His fingers gently rubbed the ring on his hand, and he glanced at Little Doctor Immortal before speaking casually, "Then… does Lord Luo have a core from a Heaven Poison Scorpion Dragon Beast?"
"Heaven Poison Scorpion Dragon Beast?" The Luo patriarch was briefly taken aback. After thinking for a while, he shook his head. "That's a rare ancient beast. Its magic core is nearly impossible to obtain. I'm afraid we don't have a seventh-rank one."
Though Xiao Yuan hadn't held high hopes, a trace of disappointment still flickered in his eyes. Sensing this, the patriarch hesitated and added tentatively, "We don't have a seventh-rank core, but we do possess a sixth-rank one. Would that be acceptable?"
"Sixth-rank, huh?"
Xiao Yuan's eyes regained a glint of anticipation.
"It'll do—but it's not enough."
The smile disappeared as he shook his head slightly.
The Luo patriarch's face twitched. After a moment's pause, he retrieved a palm-sized wooden boat from his storage ring. Faint silver light glimmered on its surface—it was imbued with traces of spatial power.
"This is a spatial boat used within wormholes. They're extremely costly—each one is worth over a million gold coins. Not something ordinary people can afford. But I imagine it could prove useful to you."
Xiao Yuan nodded.
He didn't have one of these. Even if Elder Ye Zhong might own one, having his own would be a good backup—convenient, just in case.
"This sixth-rank Scorpion Dragon core and the spatial boat—consider these our compensation. Is that satisfactory?"
The Luo patriarch wrapped the items in Dou Qi and floated them toward Xiao Yuan.
Catching the box with a wave, Xiao Yuan opened it. A purplish-red oval-shaped magic core gleamed inside. Touching it, he could feel its energy—a perfect match for what he had read about the Heaven Poison Scorpion Dragon Beast.
He then turned his attention to the spatial boat, studying it with curiosity.
"In that case, I won't be polite," Xiao Yuan said. "A foolish little girl isn't worth too much, and I'm not petty. But here's a word of advice—today she lived because it was me. Had it been another, far crueler powerhouse, your entire Luo Clan might've been wiped out. You understand what that means, especially with Tianya City's wormhole being the gateway to Central Plains. I speak no lie."
"Thank you for the reminder. Rest assured, she'll be disciplined. This won't happen again," the Luo patriarch said with a bow.
"We'll take our leave."
With a flick of his hand, Xiao Yuan led the group toward the wormhole.
The seven of them stepped into the portal and vanished. A silver glow rippled outward, fading into the dark void.
Watching them disappear, Luo Cheng clicked his tongue and murmured, "Who are they? I've never heard of a Dou Zong that young in a thousand miles of here. Judging by his words, could he be from some powerful clan in the Central Plains?"
As they entered the wormhole, darkness immediately engulfed Xiao Yuan and the others. A moment of weightlessness passed before their senses cleared.
They now stood inside a strange space passage, endless and silent.
A translucent silver barrier lined both sides of the corridor, which stretched out for dozens of meters. Beyond the walls was an unfathomable void. Faint spatial fluctuations radiated through the air.
Even with Xiao Yuan's composure, he was stunned. The dimensional corridor exuded danger, beauty, and mystery.
Elder Ye Zhong finally had a moment to show off. He flicked his wrist and summoned a delicate miniature boat, which expanded rapidly into a full-size vessel laced with flowing strands of silver spatial energy.
"This is my Ye Clan's Glazed Spatial Boat. With it, we'll reach the Central Plains in just ten days."
"Oh? And the one the Luo patriarch gave me?" Xiao Yuan asked, jumping aboard.
"Not bad—it's a Grade 4 boat. With it, the trip would take twenty days."
"Still pretty good," Xiao Yuan mused, examining the hull.
"Tsk tsk… no wonder they cost so much," Xiao Yan muttered, joining them. The girls followed shortly after.
"At the bow is an energy input node. Pour in Dou Qi to power the ship," Ye Zhong explained. "Spatial boats are graded from one to nine. This one's Grade 7."
Xiao Yuan nodded and looked again at the spatial barrier. "It won't veer off, will it?"
"No. It only works in wormholes. Keep it flying straight and you'll be fine—usually. Dangers are rare, but not nonexistent. I've never encountered anything serious, though."
Xiao Yuan seated himself cross-legged at the bow. "Well then, everyone strap in. Let's move."
Injecting Dou Qi into the energy port, the boat hummed. A burst of force erupted from the stern—whoosh!—and the vessel shot forward like a comet through the void.
The surrounding spatial barriers whizzed past at dizzying speed. The silence and darkness of the passage lent a surreal feeling, like lonely travelers drifting through the cosmos.
After a few hours, the novelty wore off, and boredom set in. Even Zi Yan lost interest and fell asleep in the cabin.
Xiao Yuan didn't dare enter deep meditation. Though fueling the ship didn't require much Dou Qi from him, he preferred to remain alert. Occasionally, Yun Yun and Little Doctor Immortal came to chat and keep him company.
Ten days flew by.
Knowing the exit was near, the two women sat close, leaning against him. Xiao Yuan was in excellent spirits.
"The necessary items to control the Disaster Poison Body are now in place," he said, glancing at Little Doctor Immortal. "But without a seventh-rank Scorpion Dragon core, the results won't be perfect. We may face side effects. Best to wait until we have the ideal materials."
"I'll follow your lead," she said softly.
"I agree," Yun Yun added. "Better to be cautious."
Just then, Xiao Yuan's brow furrowed. "Hmm?"
Boom!
The ship suddenly lurched. Ahead, the spatial barrier had thinned, and the darkness beyond grew more visible.
"What's happening?" voices called from the cabin. Xiao Yan, Ye Zhong, Zi Yan, and Xin Lan rushed out.
"This is bad," Ye Zhong said gravely. "The barrier's unstable. Something disrupted the balance of this corridor."
"Will we be okay?" Xiao Yan asked.
"Hard to say. If a spatial storm forms, and we get sucked into the void, we'll die—unless we're Dou Sheng level."
Crack!
Of course, fate had other plans.
A shattering sound rang out. From the corridor ahead, a silver spatial storm raged forth, sealing the passage. Its suction was immense, making the ship tremble violently.
"A spatial storm…" Xin Lan murmured, paling.
"So this is it, huh?" Xiao Yuan narrowed his eyes. "Even a Dou Zong would struggle against that…"
"What do we do?" Little Doctor Immortal asked.
"We crash through. I'll handle it."
Xiao Yuan rose. "Elder Ye, steer the ship. I'll take care of the storm!"
A flash of cyan light—Xiao Yuan's figure vanished, reappearing before the silver tempest.
