Chapter 58 - Chapter 58. The Kidnapper of Women: The Werewolves’ Lair

They entered the darkness among the countless tree trunks again. The forest became more dangerous and evil. Massive bodies were leaping down from the branches above, and it was necessary to move instantly to the sides to avoid being hit by their deadly clawed paws. Numerous monsters were pressing with their numbers and strength, compressing the space, making it hard to breathe. The detective was already fighting only with his sword. Several times he threw small spheres into the largest concentrations of enemies. Flashes of light illuminated the night forest, sending bloodied pieces of bodies and streams of splattered blood flying upwards.

They broke through to the next clearing. The bodies of werewolves lay here. A lot of blood was spilled on the ground. Parts of bodies, paws, and snarling heads lay scattered in different places. Some of the bodies had light fur, others dark.

"Here the kidnappers ran into another pack," the Detective said. "A bloody slaughter broke out. But they kept the prey."

The Detective drew in the air through his nose again and silently moved in a new direction.

Ahead, beyond the trees, high hills were visible. In one of them, a dark entrance to a large cave gaped. Werewolf guards rushed at them from all sides as they got closer. Again, a fight and many werewolf corpses.

They entered the cave. A long tunnel led them into a large chamber, where a girl was chained to a stone slab on the floor. She was filthy and in torn clothes.

 Recognizing the Detective, she screamed:

"He's here! Watch out!"

A large, massive figure struck from the darkness. The Detective and the Cursed managed to evade the deadly sweeps of claws long as knives, but were knocked to the ground by powerful blows.

They got to their feet, glanced around, but saw no one.

They were looking around cautiously. But the wild, primal danger was hidden from them. As if it mocked and taunted the helplessness of its prey.

Movement again. A flash of claws. Impact. A flash.

Again, they got to their feet and looked around. Suddenly, the Cursed felt it before he saw it. Large, hateful eyes in one of the cave walls. They stared at him with fury and malice. He moved instantly and drove his sword in up to the hilt. The blade sank into the stone, and a wild roar erupted. An enormous werewolf burst out of the wall into the cave. The sword was lodged in its head, right between two eyes burning with green fire. It lunged at the Cursed, but was beheaded by the Detective, who came up from behind. The monster's head separated from the body and fell to the ground. Then the body fell.

The dead werewolf lying there was the largest. The alpha.

The Detective struck with his sword and cut the chains holding the captive.

"There is only one girl here. This is not the enemy we were looking for. Many women were kidnapped. We draw the next card."

They returned to the settlement with the girl.
