For several days, Lian Yue had felt a strange heaviness lingering within her body. A subtle discomfort that might easily be dismissed as exhaustion after long hours on the court. Since ascending the throne, the responsibilities of the empire had rarely allowed her a moment of rest. Under such pressure, a slight illness hardly seemed surprising.
Yet the palace physician did not share that assumption.
The elderly man finished examining her pulse and remained silent for a moment longer than usual, his brow tightening slightly as he repeated the gesture once more to confirm what he had already suspected.
When he finally withdrew his hand, he lowered his head respectfully.
"Your Majesty should be careful in the coming months."
Lian Yue looked at him calmly. "Why?"
