Evangeline was stunned as no words could find itself leaving or forming on her lips. It was as though her tongue had suddenly turned into stone inside her mouth while her thoughts continued to crash violently against one another without pause. She stared speechless at the man before her as realization slowly crept beneath her skin like cold water sinking into her bones. Hades's miasma had a weakness.
And somehow, impossibly, she had become that weakness.
Her hands tightened into a firm hold until her nails dug painfully against her palms. Even then, the pain failed to steady the storm inside her chest. "I won't stab his heart."
"You will have no choice," the man said with a chuckle that sounded far too relaxed for the cruelty hidden beneath it. "Bring him in."
