With Giovanni, the leader of Team Rocket, finally under arrest, he was taken to the Pokémon League headquarters and imprisoned at the Indigo Plateau.
Grey returned with them to personally witness Giovanni being placed behind bars.
"Giovanni, is there anything else you want to say?"
Inside the prison, Grey stood on the other side of the glass and looked at him.
"Heh. I already said everything I needed to say back there. Still, I never expected that I wouldn't even get the chance to summon Necrozma."
Giovanni gave a bitter laugh.
His original plan had been to summon Necrozma and have it fight Grey.
Unfortunately, according to Colress's calculations, even bringing Necrozma into the battle would not have been enough to defeat him.
What else could Giovanni do?
Surrender was his only remaining option.
Besides, he had already told Grey everything he needed to say while they were in Alola.
All he wanted was for Grey to take good care of Silver.
It was unfortunate that Silver had not been the one to personally deliver him to prison. Had that happened, the arrest might have counted as an achievement for Silver within the League and helped compensate for his connection to Team Rocket.
"All right. Since there's nothing else, I should get going."
Grey turned to leave, but Giovanni suddenly spoke again.
"Wait. There is one more thing I want to tell you."
"What is it?"
Grey stopped. Only a sheet of glass separated them, allowing him to clearly see that there were no negative emotions on Giovanni's face.
"Congratulations on your upcoming wedding."
"Heh. Thanks in advance, then."
Grey gave an awkward chuckle before leaving the prison.
"Grey, how did it go?"
Lance approached as soon as Grey stepped outside.
"About as well as you'd expect. Giovanni will be spending the rest of his days doing prison labor. Unless it's absolutely necessary, don't let him out. That should help keep Kanto safe."
Grey was still somewhat concerned that Giovanni might escape.
Given the circumstances, they would probably need Champion-tier Trainers guarding him at all times to ensure he remained behind bars.
"Understood. I'll assign enough people to watch him."
Lance nodded firmly before casually joking, "When are you planning to get married? I'm still waiting for an invitation to your wedding with Sabrina and Caitlin."
Grey coughed.
Even someone as shameless as him could not stop his face from turning red when the subject came up.
"There's no need to rush. We can take our time."
"Hm?"
The air behind Grey suddenly became freezing cold.
With a faint crackle, Caitlin appeared through Teleport, her face dark with displeasure.
"Do you really dislike the idea of making our relationship official that much?"
Caitlin pouted and placed her hands on her hips.
She was the only daughter of one of Sinnoh's most prominent families, and she was practically begging to marry Grey, yet he claimed he did not want to get married anytime soon.
What exactly was he planning?
Was he hoping to use the extra time to add even more women to his harem?
Grey already had two future wives. That was enough!
Well, they could allow one more, Green.
Grey had already become far too physically familiar with Green. Leaving her alone after everything that had happened would not feel right.
Therefore, Caitlin and Sabrina had graciously decided to let Grey marry Green as well.
That was the agreement the two women had reached after discussing the matter.
"Of course not! I only meant that if we rush things, I won't be able to give all of you the perfect wedding you deserve. We're only getting married once. If we throw everything together carelessly, we'll regret it for the rest of our lives."
Grey stepped closer, wrapped an arm around Caitlin's slender waist, and smiled.
"Relax. I'm not some irresponsible jerk."
"That's good. It seems I misunderstood you."
Feeling his hand moving around her waist, Caitlin used Teleport to bring Grey directly back to Saffron Gym.
Inside the Gym, Sabrina and Green had already changed into new outfits.
Caitlin walked between them, took both of their hands, and gave Grey a flirtatious wink.
"Darling."
"Heh heh heh…"
One year later, at the Indigo Plateau, the Pokémon League headquarters had been loaned out as the venue for Grey's wedding.
Celebrities and prominent figures from every region had gathered to witness the occasion.
Even Giovanni, still behind bars, had been granted the great honor of joining the celebration through a video call.
"Mew." I wanted to use the Tree of Beginning as the wedding venue. Why were you so against it, Grey?
Riolu had revealed its true form as Mew. It was sitting on Reshiram's shoulder with its tiny arms crossed, looking deeply disappointed.
A wedding at the Tree of Beginning would have been spectacular!
Unfortunately, Grey had refused.
He had his reasons.
"Heh heh, little Mew, could you let me get a closer look at you?"
Professor Oak approached with the expression of an obsessive fanboy. A large group of Pokémon Professors followed behind him, all staring at Mew with shining eyes.
"Mew!" No!
"Grandpa, this is Grey's wedding. Do you really have to embarrass yourself like this?"
Daisy, Blue, and Gary covered their faces, unable to keep watching.
"Congratulations, Gym Leader Grey!"
Ash walked over to offer his best wishes.
After another year of traveling, Ash had successfully entered the Masters Eight. Unfortunately, when he challenged for the championship, Grey personally eliminated him, leaving Ash as the runner-up.
Grey promised that he would not interfere next year.
Ash could come back and win the championship then.
It was worth mentioning that after the Indigo League, Ash had won almost every major tournament he entered.
By Johto, he could begin challenging Elite Four-tier Trainers. In Hoenn, he reached the level of a weaker Elite Four member. In Sinnoh, he became comparable to a powerful Elite Four member and successfully defeated the Legendary Pokémon user Tobias.
In Unova, he began approaching Champion tier. In Kalos, he reached the lower end of Champion tier and could contend with Diantha. In Alola, he finally became a true regional Champion. In Galar, he began attempting to enter the battle-legend tier.
After the Masters Eight, Ash could stand alongside Grey in his normal state, Red, Leon, Blue, and Giovanni.
The Masters Eight tournament had only recently concluded, and Ash planned to head to Paldea for further training after the wedding.
"Congratulations."
Red's blessing was characteristically brief.
Still, getting words out of a mouth that seemed permanently frozen shut was already a rare achievement.
"Grey, congratulations!"
A short-haired girl with light brown hair, Serena, approached them. After congratulating Grey, she turned to Ash.
"Ash, Grey is already getting married. Is there anyone you'd like to marry?"
For various reasons, Serena had become one of Grey's apprentices. Halfway through her training, however, Sabrina, Caitlin, and Green had dragged her away for lessons in romance.
Now that she had completed their course, she planned to travel to Paldea with Ash.
"What are you talking about? What kind of girl asks something like that?"
Ash pursed his lips and complained.
Serena stared at him in disbelief.
"With a blockhead like Ash, who would ever like him?"
Misty muttered under her breath, even as she looked at Ash with obvious concern.
"Ash, this is where you should learn from Grey and me."
Brock patted Ash on the shoulder.
Brock was no longer single either.
His partners were Olivia from Alola and Lucy, the Frontier Brain of the Battle Pike.
"Hahaha! I'll have a proper conversation with Ash when I get the chance."
Grey could not help laughing at Ash's complete inability to understand romance.
He then turned toward Red with an inquisitive grin.
"What about you, Red? How are things going?"
Human beings were naturally curious about romantic gossip. Ever since Grey heard that Red might be developing something with a girl named Yellow, he had been investigating whenever the opportunity arose.
Grey had finally escaped single life. Red could not be allowed to remain single forever.
It did not matter whether the reasoning made sense. Red still had to find someone!
Otherwise, among all the battle-legend tier Trainers, only Grey and Giovanni would have entered relationships.
Red, Leon, Blue, and Ash were all still single.
Had Grey not been relentlessly pursued by women, Giovanni might have remained the only battle-legend Trainer with both a partner and a confirmed child.
This had led to a ridiculous rumor among the public.
According to the story, Grey, the strongest of the battle legends, resented Giovanni for having a child and personally sent him to prison as a warning to the others.
The message was supposedly clear.
True masters remained single.
Grey had been left completely speechless.
What did they mean by saying he resented Giovanni for having a son?
Was Grey really that kind of person?
With no other choice, he started pressuring the others to find partners.
Unfortunately, the rising star Ash had the emotional awareness of a brick wall.
The playboy Blue had no intention of getting married.
Leon was constantly lost or busy accepting sponsorship deals, leaving him with no time for romance.
At present, the perpetually silent Red was the only one showing any progress. Naturally, Grey had to pressure him as much as possible.
"Grey still loves cornering Red and demanding answers."
Over with the apprentice group, Lillie watched the scene and laughed.
"He does."
After a year of training, Silver had become even more reserved and handsome.
"He's finally getting married!"
The newest apprentice, Liko, sighed with emotion.
Grey had taken her out of Indigo Academy and accepted her as an apprentice during the past year. Since then, Liko had been exposed to endless displays of affection every day.
She had even stopped attending school. After all, Master Grey personally taught her everything she needed to know about battling.
His lessons were far better than anything Indigo Academy offered.
There was also an amusing piece of trivia.
During the World Coronation Series, Lance had ordered Dragonite to use Max Wyrmwind against Diantha's Mega Gardevoir. As a result, every academy in Kanto added the most basic first-year lesson, type matchups, to its curriculum overnight.
Four Trainers from Kanto had participated in that World Coronation Series: Grey, Ash, Red, and Lance.
Yet Lance, the only publicly recognized regional Champion among them, was eliminated by the Champion of Kalos after making an elementary mistake.
The incident turned him into a regionwide punchline.
People even dug up footage from the Ultra Class in which Ash had ordered Dracovish to use Dragon Rush against Drasna's Mega Altaria.
The Kanto Times soon published a headline:
"Why Are Kanto's Basic Battling Skills So Terrible?"
Trainers from other regions could not resist asking a painful question.
Did people from Kanto simply not understand how Dragon-type Pokémon worked?
Unfortunately, Kanto's native Dragon-type selection consisted almost entirely of the Dragonite evolutionary line.
Over with Grey's closest friends, Marshal and Bruno approached carrying a gift box.
"Grey, congratulations! Bruno and I spent a long time deciding what to give you."
The Unova Elite Four member and the Kanto Elite Four member handed him the box.
Grey accepted it and discreetly peeked inside.
Four pairs of pillows.
Some were printed with "YES," while others said "NO."
Why was there also one printed with "TOGETHER"?
Grey accepted the present without the slightest change in expression.
Who would have expected two respectable-looking Fighting-type Elite Four members to come up with something like this?
"I can't believe you're getting married so soon," Steven said. "You probably won't have much free time afterward."
Steven and Wallace had also attended.
Both men found the situation rather unfortunate.
Hoenn could not survive without Grey!
"That's probably true. Most of the time, we'll have to speak through video calls."
Grey sighed.
There was nothing he could do.
He was about to have three wives. His husbandly responsibilities would keep him busy every day.
No, this would not do.
He had to find another opportunity to ask Mew for a few more branches from the Tree of Beginning so he could brew them into tea.
"Congratulations, Grey."
As Grey's number-one cook, N naturally attended the wedding.
He wiped away the emotional tears gathering in his eyes and applauded.
"Remember to visit Unova often."
N was now Unova's Champion. Combined with his history with Team Plasma, his responsibilities made it impossible for him to leave the region for extended periods.
He was already considering whether he should resign and make Iris the next Champion.
Yes!
As soon as Grey's wedding was over, he would go find Iris.
The Champion title had become a relay baton, and it was her turn to carry it.
"Of course. You can visit Kanto whenever it's convenient too. Just call the Gym directly before you come."
Grey did not forget to establish N as his possible escape route.
My friend, whether I can ever sneak out of the house again may depend entirely on you!
"Speaking of which, why haven't I seen Lucian?"
Grey looked around.
Almost everyone he knew had arrived.
However, Lucian, who was constantly working overtime, was nowhere to be seen.
"Lucian? He's working overtime to handle League business. A region can't be left without an Elite Four member on duty."
Flint, Volkner, and Aaron answered in perfect unison.
That settled it.
Like Giovanni, Lucian would have to watch through a video call.
Over with the bridesmaids, Shauntal, Cynthia, and Diantha surrounded Caitlin.
"Congratulations, Caitlin! May you have a long and happy marriage. Remember, if Grey ever mistreats you, come and tell us."
As Caitlin's closest friends, the three women naturally intended to support her.
However, judging by the current situation, perhaps they should be more concerned about Caitlin mistreating Grey.
The type advantage psychics possessed over Fighting specialists was apparently real.
Grey had even specifically warned Marshal and Bruno never to date a psychic.
"Congratulations, Caitlin!"
Ansha, Diantha's daughter, was attending her first wedding and serving as a flower girl.
"You're so adorable, Ansha! I hope my future children will be as cute as you."
Caitlin immediately melted.
Ansha was simply too precious.
"Sabrina! Will I still be able to see you on film sets after you get married? Sabrina, my life will be miserable without you!"
Rosa, who had become Unova's Grass-type Elite Four member, clung to Sabrina.
Caitlin and Sabrina had practically raised Rosa into the Elite Four member she was today, but Rosa had always been slightly closer to Sabrina.
They were close friends who had acted in movies together. How could Sabrina get married so soon?
Would she no longer attend their regular get-togethers?
Rosa, Yancy, Hilda, and Lisia were all still single!
Their circle of friends was remarkably influential.
Its members were involved in movies, variety shows, multichannel-network management, and professional Pokémon Contests. Even Diantha was a member.
Grey dominated male audiences, while Sabrina dominated female audiences. Their influence was frightening.
"It's fine. You can visit me at Saffron Gym whenever you have time."
Sabrina gave her a small smile.
Bumiao already managed most of the Gym's daily operations. Sabrina had plenty of free time and could still go shopping with her friends.
Speaking of Bumiao, she and Nelly were responsible for managing the gift table and recording all the checks and cash envelopes.
Far too many celebrities and wealthy guests had arrived.
They could not count the money quickly enough!
Where were the parents of Caitlin, Sabrina, and Green?
Was it not cruel to force two exhausted employees to handle all this work alone?
However, Caitlin, Sabrina, and Green had promised them ten percent of the cash gifts as payment.
Never mind.
They could keep working!
"Green, how did you manage to win Grey over? I'd like some advice so I can see whether I have any chance with Red."
Yellow, who shared an increasingly ambiguous relationship with Red, approached Green to borrow some of the wedding's good fortune. She also hoped to catch one of the bouquets.
There would be three bouquets in total.
Serena could catch one, Yellow could catch another, and then Yellow would immediately go confront Red.
"Well, the secret is to be bold. Fortune favors the bold!"
Green summarized the entire matter in one sentence.
"Be bold? I think I understand!"
Yellow nodded firmly.
Yes!
For the sake of her happiness with Red, she had to gather her courage.
Noon passed quietly, and the sunlight gradually took on a warm amber hue.
The wedding had reached its grandest moment.
The ceremonial stage had been arranged with exquisite care. Grey stood upright in a perfectly tailored black suit, his eyes fixed on the path ahead.
He slowly exhaled.
Even now, standing among the flowers and a hall filled with guests, Grey felt almost dazed.
He could hardly believe he was finally getting married.
This ceremony was not someone else's story.
It was his.
"Please welcome the three brides!"
Chairman Damalanchi's voice rose dramatically, overflowing with celebratory emotion.
As soon as he finished speaking, the heavy doors slowly opened.
Light poured in from outside, forming a brilliant corridor across the floor.
Flowers covered the red carpet.
Sabrina walked on the left. Her white gown outlined her slender waist, while her veil partially concealed the usually cool and distant features of her face. Today, however, an unmistakable softness showed beneath them.
Her eyes passed over the entire carpet and settled directly on Grey. Her steps were steady and certain.
Caitlin walked in the center with a radiant smile, carrying a bouquet of pale pink roses. With each step, the fabric of her gown swayed like gentle waves.
She made no attempt to hide her excitement, waving openly at Grey as happiness overflowed from her eyes.
Green walked on the right with her head slightly lowered and a faint blush coloring her cheeks.
She carefully stepped across the flower petals as though afraid of disturbing something precious. Every so often, she glanced secretly at Grey before quickly lowering her eyes again.
The three women walked along the same red carpet toward the same destination.
Petals crushed softly beneath their feet, releasing a delicate fragrance.
The entire venue fell silent for a moment before erupting into even louder cheers.
Just as the three brides were about to reach the center of the stage, the sky suddenly darkened.
Everyone looked upward.
A rain cloud had gathered from nowhere, and enormous drops began falling without warning.
Kyogre emerged from the void and spread its massive fins, clearly intending to add its own special surprise to the wedding.
Unfortunately, its surprise had barely begun when a streak of red light crossed the sky.
Groudon approached with heavy steps, walking through the air. It merely raised a front claw and swept it aside, instantly scattering the newly formed rain cloud.
Sunlight returned.
Kyogre gave a dissatisfied growl but did not insist. It flicked its tail and remained floating silently overhead.
Once the rain ended, a rainbow quietly formed across the sky above the entire venue.
Mew emerged from the curve of the rainbow, its body surrounded by a faint pink glow.
It spun through the air, performed a somersault, and happily scattered tiny points of light with each swing of its tail.
"Heh heh, it still isn't lively enough!"
Hoopa's voice came from one corner. It pulled out one of its golden rings and threw it with all its strength.
The ring spun through the sky and rapidly expanded, sending circular waves of light outward.
Rayquaza emerged through it, its long body coiling through the clouds.
Palkia and Dialga appeared side by side. The gods of space and time restrained their usual majesty today and quietly watched the stage.
Giratina pushed half its body through a rift connected to the Distortion World, unusually willing to remain outside its own domain.
Mewtwo floated slightly farther away with its arms crossed.
Lugia arrived at a leisurely pace, bringing Koraidon, the three Legendary birds, and Genesect along with it.
Closer to the stage, Grey's partners from the dojo had already gathered.
Annihilape, for once, was not jumping around or causing trouble. It sat quietly in a corner and wiped at the edge of its eye with one fist.
Blaziken stood beside the red carpet with its arms crossed, as upright and vigilant as a ceremonial guard.
Gallade lowered its head slightly, its gaze calm.
Lucario gently spread its Aura, sharing the happiness of the moment with every living being present.
Breloom happily bounced through the crowd, the mushroom cap on its head swaying with every step.
The dojo's Three Generals, its Four Swordsmen, and all the other companions who called it home had come to witness this moment.
Legendary Pokémon filled the sky, while Grey's closest partners remained beside him.
They were all waiting.
Waiting for the three women in white gowns to reach Grey.
Waiting to hear them say, "I do."
At last, the three brides arrived before him.
They stood side by side at the end of the red carpet.
Sabrina raised her eyes, all their usual coldness having melted away. Caitlin lifted her chin slightly with a smile on her lips. Green tightened her grip on her bouquet and forced herself to stand straight.
Every guest fell silent.
The Legendary Pokémon in the sky quieted as well, and the dojo's Pokémon held their breath.
Chairman Damalanchi cleared his throat and raised the microphone. His voice was solemn and powerful.
"Sabrina, Caitlin, and Green."
He paused and looked across the three brides before asking each word clearly.
"Do you take Grey as your husband? From this day forward, whether in poverty or prosperity, in sickness or in health, will you love and honor him until death?"
The three women answered in clear, united voices.
"I do!"
Chairman Damalanchi turned toward Grey with a smile in his eyes.
"Grey, do you take these three women as your wives? From this day forward, whether in poverty or prosperity, in sickness or in health, will you love and honor them until death?"
Grey looked at the three women before him.
He remembered every day they had spent together and every time they had waited for him to return home.
His throat moved as emotion tightened his voice.
"I do!"
The instant the words left his mouth, Pokémon cried out in unison, the guests erupted into cheers, and countless streams of brilliant light spread across the sky.
Even Arceus appeared above the clouds to witness the moment.
The entire world seemed to be celebrating for them.
This moment had a name.
Happiness, lasting forever.
:D
