[Egg-Hatching King Gold has activated an admiral-tier membership in streamer "Dojo Annihilape"'s channel. Today is their first day supporting the streamer.]
[Congratulations to Egg-Hatching King Gold, whose fan badge has just reached Lv. 25.]
[Congratulations to user Egg-Hatching King Gold, whose honor level has risen to 28.]
The law of eating your own words was everywhere.
Gold had originally scoffed at the idea of buying an admiral-tier membership just to get someone's private contact info.
Other streamers let you add them at captain-tier, so why did a Gym Leader who was not even a looks-based streamer need admiral-tier?
Gold was not an idiot.
But the moment he stepped into the dojo and saw how many Legendary Pokémon Grey had caught, he was suddenly filled with respect.
All at once, the price started to feel reasonable.
"It's worth it. I'll just treat this like I paid for a zoo ticket to see Legendary Pokémon..."
When he said that, his heart was bleeding.
How many Pokémon Eggs was he going to have to bless before he earned this spending money back?
"Gym Leader Grey, what perks come with your admiral-tier membership? Besides private contact info, there should be some other benefits too, right?"
Gold's heart was still bleeding.
This was admiral-tier.
An admiral-tier membership that cost 1,998 a month.
If all it got him was a contact method, that really did not feel worth it.
"Hmm..."
Grey paused to think.
To be honest, not many people bought captain-tier or admiral-tier memberships for him.
What he got more often were Governor-tier memberships.
Usually from friends, or Champions from various regions.
It was kind of like a photographer networking with famous cosplayers. Most of the time, people did not need to buy gifts just to trade contact info.
When those Champions added Grey, they did not need to buy admiral-tier memberships either.
If they sent a Governor-tier membership, it was only because of the friendship between them.
So when it came to captain-tier, admiral-tier, and Governor-tier perks...
Grey had not really prepared anything.
They had never asked for anything, either.
Grey had originally planned to treat them to dinner.
They had gladly accepted.
But as for admiral-tier perks...
Grey really had not thought that through.
From what one of Grey's friends had seen on other streams, it was usually just a few extra Polaroids, a postcard set, and some custom wallpapers.
"How about I give you a few photos with these Legendary Pokémon?"
That was the only admiral-tier perk Grey could think of.
Photos with the Legendary Birds, Reshiram, and Kyurem would look pretty incredible, right?
At the very least, Grey had never intended to let them pose for pictures with just anyone.
But if he used that as an admiral-tier perk...
Then sure, that worked.
"I'm good with that."
Gold instantly felt much better.
He was now the first man in his town to take a photo with a top-tier Legendary Pokémon.
"By the way, Gym Leader Grey, isn't that a pretty good admiral-tier perk? Why didn't you put it in the description?"
The captain-tier and admiral-tier perks were listed pretty clearly.
One Polaroid, some daily-life Pokémon photos, an in-person meal, and private sparring.
But there had been nothing listed for admiral-tier.
"Oh, that? I just made it up on the spot. Assuming nothing unexpected happens, it probably won't be that good in the future. Later on, you'd probably only get to choose one Pokémon for a photo."
Grey was not that famous yet.
With most people, the vibe was still basically, we're all just buddies here.
So taking a few extra pictures right now was not a problem.
But if he got more popular later on,
then obviously he could not keep doing it like this.
Better to avoid giving bad actors any openings.
"Then I guess I should thank you?"
"No need. It's only natural. That's what I should do as a streamer."
"..."
Grey had managed to turn Gold into Red, completely speechless.
Still, Gold actually liked people with Grey's kind of personality.
Most of the time, Grey just joked around a bit.
As a person, he was honestly pretty easy to get along with.
Gold had originally been a little nervous.
But after chatting with Grey,
he mostly just wanted to punch him.
...
...
Once they reached the battlefield,
Grey did what he always did and started the stream.
[666, who is this monster casually dropping an admiral-tier membership out of nowhere?]
[Isn't that just a guy with too much money and too little sense? Wait, isn't that Master Gold?]
[Did blessing too many eggs rot his brain?]
[Hard to say. Maybe there's something going on between those two... ahem, wholesome stream here, I'll just say, those who get it, get it.]
The livestream was as noisy as ever.
Grey used the system panel to scan the strength of the Pokémon on Gold's body.
They really were a lot stronger than those of an average rookie trainer.
Still,
that was all there was to it.
"Then the battle rules will be two-on-two. Once all of one side's Pokémon lose the ability to battle, the match is over."
Grey did have a Pokémon on hand that could handle Gold.
As for what Pokémon Gold would send out,
it did not really matter.
No matter what happened, Grey was going to use that one.
Before the battle began,
Grey pulled out a Poké Ball, pointed it at Gold, and slowly said, "Young challenger, have you ever battled a Fighting-type Pokémon before?"
"The type I specialize in is Fighting. Through relentless training, we temper ourselves and constantly surpass our limits."
"If you don't have the resolve to give everything you've got, dealing with Fighting-type Pokémon will be very difficult."
"So now, show me your full strength!"
The moment he finished speaking,
the Poké Ball hit the ground.
A half-man-sized pig Pokémon appeared.
It had no visible neck, its head and body flowing together into one rounded shape.
Its limbs were short but sturdy, yellow curled markings ran across its back, and its tail curled up like a spring.
Pokémon: Pignite
Type: Fire / Fighting
Level: 20
Ability: Reckless
Moves: Omitted
After Reshiram's personal "training," Tepig had long since evolved into Pignite.
Its strength had grown at an incredible pace too, and it was already capable of holding its own.
Compared to the rest of Grey's Pokémon, though, it still was not all that remarkable.
"What kind of Pokémon is that?"
Gold had never seen a starter Pokémon from another region before.
From Pignite's appearance alone, he could barely judge its typing.
Fire and Fighting.
"That's Pignite, a Fire- and Fighting-type starter Pokémon from Unova. Challenger, don't let Pignite's goofy look fool you. In actual battle, it's got plenty of strength."
Grey smiled.
Pignite was already the weakest Pokémon in the Gym.
And its strength was roughly on par with Gold's Pokémon.
Using Pignite against Gold was absolutely the best choice.
"Longtail, you're up first!"
Gold's partner was a purple monkey Pokémon.
It had a playful, grinning face, and its tail was shaped like a hand.
Pokémon: Aipom
Type: Normal
Level: 18
Ability: Skill Link
Moves: Omitted
A Normal-type Aipom.
In terms of type matchup, it was at a complete disadvantage.
Gold really did battle like a brawler.
"Pignite, Flame Charge."
Grey did not change his opening play.
"Pignite!"
Pignite's entire body burst into flame. It stamped heavily in place a few times, then charged straight at Aipom!
