Evening came in a flash, yet Monica still showed no signs of waking. Maya sighed and tucked Monica's quilt in more securely.
Ian stood quietly to the side, his gaze tightly following Maya.
The care and worry in Maya's eyes were genuine and unfeigned; it was the first time she revealed such raw emotion. It seemed as if this world also held both the charm and capability to grasp her.
So how long will it take before I can firmly grasp her...
"It's getting late, Maya, you should go rest with Ian. I've asked Auntie Zhang to prepare a room for you, and I'll stay here with your mom."
Jasper came over and placed a cup of warm water on the table.
Maya didn't move, still reluctant to leave Monica.
"I'm the one who usually takes care of your mom, and no one knows her better than I do. Besides, if you stay here all night, she'll be heartbroken when she wakes up. Maya, go and rest."
Maya stood up, "Dad, call us if anything happens."
"Okay."
Jasper escorted the two out of the room.
