After South Grant dropped off Winston Wolfe at home, she was about to catch a ride back when her phone rang.
Seeing it was a call from Foster, she remembered how he said she talked in her sleep last night.
South Grant felt a mountain of pressure.
If she kept sharing a bed with him and didn't change her sleep-talking habit, she'd definitely spill more secrets.
But ignoring Foster's call didn't feel right either.
Just as the call was about to disconnect, South Grant answered it.
"Why did it take so long?"
"Oh, I didn't hear it. I picked up as soon as I did."
"I mean, why were you gone so long? Did someone give you a hard time?"
South Grant was taken aback; it turned out Foster was asking about that. She thought he was upset she took too long to answer his call.
"No one gave me trouble. I ran into an uncle who used to be close with my dad, so we chatted a bit."
Nathan Foster made a small noise of acknowledgment, then said:
"Where are you? I'll come pick you up."
