After the summer training plan was approved, the Gehenna Prefect Team actually became even busier than usual.
After all, during the training camp, aside from the minimum number of members staying at headquarters, most people including the President and the three main officers would leave the school.
To prevent troublemakers from taking advantage of this gap to blatantly break school rules, preparations had to be made in advance.
These tasks were originally all supposed to be the President's responsibility, but lately, Gehenna's "order" remained as peculiar as ever, and Hina simply didn't have enough hands to manage everything.
So the officers held a discussion and decided to help share some of the workload—tasks that didn't absolutely require the President's involvement, like processing simple documents.
Even so, one thing surprised me greatly.
"So even Iori is included!?"
Inside a Prefect Team office, I exclaimed in shock.
"What do you mean by that!?" Iori glared at me with her crimson eyes. "Do you think I'm stupid!?"
Well, saying it that bluntly was a little harsh.
"Mainly, Iori, your specialty is combat," I tried to explain. "Usually, paperwork is handled by Ako and Chinatsu, right?"
The girl snorted, put down her pen, crossed her arms, and lifted her pretty face in a tsundere pose.
"Hmph. In our Prefect Team, multitasking is the basic rule. Chinatsu is originally in charge of the medical department. And the President is truly skilled in both martial and administrative matters."
Looking at the disdainful expression on Iori's face, even though I was standing, I couldn't help but feel a strange sense of being looked down upon.
I thought. she probably wants me to lick her feet again!
But more than that, I was curious about something else.
"What about Ako?"
A perfect counterexample appeared.
"Ako… uh…" Iori choked on her words, stammering for a long while before finally turning red with embarrassment. "You're not deliberately picking a fight, are you?"
I quickly shook my head to deny it, inwardly feeling a swell of satisfaction.
Thank you! Ako-chan's presumed combat stats barely exceed mine, and yet…
Fortunately, a tsundere like Iori, who secretly admires me, gets angry fast but cools down even faster.
"Seriously. Oh, and the thing I asked you to bring… you haven't forgotten it, right?"
"Here it is." I pulled a bottle of sunscreen from my bag and handed it to Iori.
…Though I knew it wasn't quite appropriate, I couldn't help wondering.
Given Iori's tanned skin and the constitution of Kivotos students, does she really need sunscreen?
Could she be thinking of… having me help apply it?
After all, she had asked me to help with bandages before, so the possibility wasn't low.
Moreover, thinking carefully, Iori's closest friend in the committee is none other than Ako.
Both being tsundere, it wouldn't be surprising if other similarities existed as well.
"Thanks, that really helps a lot," said Iori, smiling in a way that might hide ulterior motives.
"You're welcome. By the way, is there any other work I can help with?"
"Well… most of the work is already done," Iori said as she flipped through documents on the desk. "If sensei wants to help… it's mainly just drafting the rules for the training camp now."
I asked in puzzlement. "Can't we just use the rules from before?"
Iori sighed helplessly. "No, we can't. This time the camp is at the beach. Most students will wear swimsuits instead of uniforms, and any explosive devices sensitive to humidity must be handled carefully… Basically, the environment is very different from both the school and previous camps."
In the past, it had either been just around school or somewhere as harsh as a volcano; the committee had no prior experience for this.
Iori looked troubled. "But when I think carefully… what exactly counts as things students can't do at the beach? Sensei, if you're willing to help, could you give me some advice on that?"
"Hehe… then you've come to the right person."
I smiled confidently, and under the girl's expectant gaze, spoke slowly. "Building sandcastles and sand baths, learning to swim, playing beach volleyball, setting off fireworks, smashing watermelons, visiting the beach house…"
"Wait, wait," Iori put one hand on her forehead, the other raised in confusion. "What are you talking about?"
"Huh?" I replied, puzzled. "Of course, I'm talking about things students aren't supposed to do at the beach."
Iori's brow furrowed even deeper. "…Huh? Those are just ordinary beach activities. What does that have to do with breaking school rules?"
I shook my head, feeling somewhat nostalgic. "This is all from my experience. Looking back now, it's really hard to explain."
Kivotos, a truly mysterious place... anything is possible.
Seeing this, Iori, who had originally thought I was talking nonsense, became cautiously attentive.
"I don't quite get it… But we are at the beach for training, so we do need some limits… Wait! Even normal training doesn't suddenly turn into playtime! If we put something like this into school rules, how would students from other schools view us?"
Uh… isn't Gehenna already known for that among other schools?
I fell silent.
"Are there things students might do unconsciously once they get to the beach?"
"Hmm… when driving tanks, watch out for the railing edges tearing clothes. And if you don't bring a change of clothes, make sure air drops are delivered on time?"
"Why would anyone go without a change of clothes!? And why on earth would you call an air drop for that!?"
Iori got flustered. "Really! I'm not joking, help me think seriously!"
I've always been serious, haven't I?
So I tried thinking from a less Kivotos-centric perspective, suggesting a few more things, but all were rejected as useless.
"Sensei's thinking is so fundamentally flawed… Sigh… I'm such an idiot for expecting anything from sensei. How could I forget sensei is an incorrigible, useless, shameful, perverted adult?"
That's going a bit too far!
Besides, if that were true, what does it make Iori, who's attracted to me?
I felt a surge of fury. "Could you repeat what you just said?"
"I won't! Gross!"
I pouted, thinking that was fair enough.
After scolding me, Iori paused in thought, then suddenly changed the topic. "Sensei, if students could do anything at a beach, what would you think of first?"
"Well, then you've definitely asked the right person."
I smiled confidently, and under the girl's disdainful gaze, began to speak slowly.
