The final result was naturally expected: Ash captured Dragonair, achieving his goal for coming to Dragon Island this time.
It's hard to say about the outer areas, but within the Inner Island, this Dragonair's talent is definitely among the top tier. However, just like Chimchar under Paul, for some unknown reason, Dragonair could not utilize its talent at all.
It was as if—it was waiting for him.
The mere fact that Dragonair immediately mastered the Wind Element, which it had previously been unable to grasp, right after his arrival, was already strange. However, Ash didn't overthink it. His reason for capturing Dragonair wasn't just its exceptional talent; another reason was that he simply liked it.
That appearance of never giving up hope and striving forward, even when at its lowest point, suited Ash perfectly. Even without the Eye of Insight to see through Dragonair's talent, Ash still would have chosen Dragonair.
After capturing Dragonair, Ash's business on Dragon Island was concluded. Now, all they had to do was follow the markers Lance left, head to the entrance, and wait for the Dragon Tamer Clan people to pick them up.
Just then, a voice entered Ash's ears: "Young man, come to Dragon Island Center."
Ash suddenly looked up, scanning the surroundings, only seeing the pure and innocent expressions of the nearby Dragonite and the confused looks of the Dragonair that had just landed.
Judging by their reactions, the voice he heard wasn't from them—that voice, rather than sounding next to his ear, sounded inside his mind; it was Telepathy.
The voice was deep and heavy, suggesting the speaker was quite old. And it could use Telepathy. Was this a move that Dragon-type Pokémon could learn?
"I am at Dragon Island Center. Come here, young man," the deep voice sounded again. This time, the speaker revealed his location.
Dragon Island Center—the place he was currently in was on the west side of Dragon Island's Inner Island, at least five kilometers away from the center. To be able to use Telepathy accurately to pinpoint his location from such a distance, and to reside at the Dragon Island Center, there was only one candidate: that God Domain Level Dragonite!
Ash had already sensed that the God Domain Level Dragonite resided in the Dragon Island Center when he first arrived on the island. Mewtwo had also detected the opponent, and perhaps the opponent had already detected them too.
After all, Ash and Mewtwo were like two bright beacons lit up in a place of utter darkness. It would be difficult for that God Domain Dragonite not to notice them.
There are only a handful of God Domain Level beings in the entire world. If two suddenly showed up on Dragon Island today, and you were the leader of Dragon Island, wouldn't you pay special attention to them?
However, Ash had always behaved properly—polite and avoiding trouble after arriving on Dragon Island, just like an ordinary person. Therefore, Ash thought he shouldn't have attracted too much attention from that Dragonite.
Yet, right after he captured Dragonair, he was targeted by that Dragonite. What was the meaning of this? Was it trying to stop him from catching Pokémon?
"Go, Ash, and see what tricks he's playing," Mewtwo's voice also sounded in Ash's mind. That Dragonite's Telepathy hadn't just reached Ash; it had also reached Mewtwo.
No matter what tricks the opponent wanted to play, with two God Domain Level beings on their side, one of whom could even use MEGA Evolution, how could they possibly be afraid of the opponent?
Ash nodded, then quickly ran towards where the Dragonite was located. Pikachu, on Ash's shoulder, looked completely bewildered. What was going on? Why the sudden rush?
With Ash's speed, he reached the location of the Dragonite in the Island Center in less than five minutes. Leaving aside the power within his body, his physical fitness alone already surpassed ninety-nine percent of all humans.
Among humans, perhaps only Bruno could arm wrestle Ash relying purely on physical strength.
Upon reaching the Island Center, what greeted Ash was a cave-like entrance. Once he arrived at the entrance, Ash clearly felt an immense pressure, but as he stepped inside, the pressure vanished completely, as if it had never existed.
As Ash slowly walked in, the space inside gradually revealed itself. From the outside, the place didn't look very big, but upon entering, he realized its vastness was three times the size of Oaks Laboratory and his home combined, and then some.
Of course, this didn't include Oaks Laboratory's Backyard. If you included the Backyard, then comparing it to the entirety of Dragon Island's Inner Island would be more appropriate.
The environment and air quality here were exceptional. Though it should have been dark, it was incredibly bright. The reason seemed to be the Gems placed around the cave walls, which emitted a soft glow illuminating the entire cavern.
The ground was covered with grass, and light green blades swayed in the breeze, filling the entire cave with fresh air.
"How does the Ventilation System here work? There's only one entrance, yet the air is better than outside," Ash wondered, looking curiously at the cave interior. Beside him, Pikachu was staring ahead as if facing a great enemy.
A figure slowly walked out from the shadows. Pikachu, who was feeling immense pressure, had been highly vigilant, but its wariness slowly subsided once it clearly saw the figure.
What appeared before Ash and Pikachu was a golden Pokémon. This Pokémon was the pseudo-legendary of Kanto, Dragonite.
From its appearance, this Dragonite was no different from the others outside: it looked honest and simple, giving off a feeling of pure kindness. If not for the extremely dangerous aura it emitted the moment it appeared, Pikachu might have thought this Dragonite was completely harmless.
"You have arrived."
"Pika?!" Pikachu jumped in surprise at the sudden voice. It looked left and right, finally locking its gaze onto the Dragonite in front of them. Was this voice coming from this Dragonite?
"What do you need from us?" Ash didn't bother with pleasantries and went straight to the point.
"Nothing much. I just wanted to see what kind of human could elevate their own power to such a degree. I have lived for so long, and this is the first time I've seen a human enter that realm," the Dragonite's voice was filled with deep astonishment.
He had lived for countless years, and this was the first time he had ever seen a human reach the God Domain Level!
That is the God Domain Level! Countless Pokémon are stuck at that step, and not even all Legendary Pokémon can advance to the God Domain Level.
Rather, very few Legendary Pokémon manage to advance to the God Domain Level. Aside from the Legendary Pokémon chosen as Inheritors of Divine Duties, who are guaranteed to advance, the others—well, they just have slightly more hope than ordinary Pokémon.
Yet today, he actually saw a human reach the God Domain Realm. Is this what they call living long enough to see everything?
Hearing that the Dragonite merely wanted to meet him, Ash relaxed, clasping his hands behind his head with a smile. "Oh, so that's all it was. You should have said so earlier! Why didn't you look for me when I was wandering around the island?"
"Because I was still observing you at that time. Also, you can call me by my name, Alistair."
Alistair, that was the name of this God Domain Level Dragonite. Generally, wild Pokémon rarely have names.
Although Pokémon are no less intelligent than humans, they use most of their intelligence on moves and becoming stronger. Humans excel in intelligence but not strength, while Pokémon, though normally intelligent, allocate part of their thinking to strength, resulting in relatively weaker cognitive ability than humans.
This is why Pokémon need humans for complementarity. Human wisdom can effectively tap into their potential. Pokémon and humans mutually achieve greatness.
Getting off track—in short, naming is something Pokémon generally don't do. Even within an entire Clan, they won't adopt names. As for how they address and distinguish each other without names, that is their own affair.
If a Pokémon does have a name, regardless of its strength, its intelligence is certainly not inferior to humans, and might even surpass that of most humans.
This Dragonite named Alistair was a prime example. Judging by its ability to communicate normally with humans and display such rich and varied expressions, it possessed not only immense power but also wisdom that surpassed ordinary Pokémon.
"Alistair, right? Nice to meet you. My name is Ash. Pleasure to make your acquaintance!" Ash extended his hand toward Alistair and grinned.
Alistair looked surprised. This young man named Ash, besides having power different from ordinary people, also behaved completely differently from ordinary people!
Would a normal person meet a named Pokémon that could communicate via Telepathy and accept it so quickly? That was clearly impossible!
Yet Ash greeted him without the slightest hesitation, acting as if the being standing before him was a human, not a Pokémon.
"The pleasure is mine, Ash. Besides wanting to see you up close, I also called you over because I wanted to ask you why you chose that Dragonair," Dragonite said curiously to Ash while extending its plump hand to shake Ash's.
"Because I feel that Dragonair suits my taste very well. Even when facing difficulties or setbacks, it always pushes forward and swims against the current. Despite being unable to fly and having slow strength growth, she still hasn't given up, desperately trying to catch up to her companions. This personality is very similar to mine, because I, too, never give up, no matter what!"
Hearing this, Dragonite narrowed its eyes. It could tell that Ash was not lying; he was genuinely moved by Dragonair's character. As for whether he noticed the child's Hidden Talent—that was no longer important.
As long as what the young man just said was true, Dragonair would certainly not suffer under Ash. Dragonite even believed that under Ash's guidance, Dragonair might be able to surpass the limitations of the Dragonite Clan and reach the same realm as himself.
Dragonair alone couldn't do it, but if the power of the young man in front of him was added, then it might be possible.
"I understand. You are a very interesting young man. Over the years, I have seen countless people come to the island. Besides you, only one young fellow from the Dragon Tamer Clan caught my attention, but even he wasn't as special as you."
The young fellow from the Dragon Tamer Clan—he must be referring to Mr. Lance, right? Ash thought silently.
Besides Lance, Ash couldn't think of anyone else who could attract this Dragonite's attention. Mr. Lance is truly strong!
"I am very satisfied with your answer, so I have decided to give you this," Alistair said, waving his hand. A gentle breeze blew, and the next second, a round Gem descended from above, floating between Alistair and Ash.
Ash focused his gaze, and then an expression of surprise appeared on his face: "This is—a mega stone?!"
"A mega stone? So you humans already have a name for this stone."
"Alistair, do you know what this thing is?"
"I don't know exactly, but I do know that it can activate the latent power within our Dragonite Clan. However—it lacks a medium. Besides me, the other members of the Dragonite Clan probably cannot use it. But judging by your expression, it seems you can use it?"
"Besides you—"
"You can use this mega stone?!" Ash exclaimed, looking astonished.
"Yes, I can forcibly activate the stone's power using my God Domain Level strength, and then use it as a guide to unlock the latent power within me, resulting in a temporary boost. However, the duration is less than five minutes. If it were activated normally, the time should be longer than that," Alistair nodded in confirmation.
He could indeed use this thing called a mega stone, but because he forcibly activated it using God Domain power, the duration was only a brief five minutes.
In an ordinary battle, five minutes is actually quite a lot; a fast-paced three-on-three match might even be over.
But for a God Domain Level being, five minutes is far too short. Their stamina is inherently immense, and if one side wants to drag out the time, five minutes passes in the blink of an eye.
Therefore, this mega stone helped Alistair, but not significantly.
"That's incredible! A mega stone generally requires a key stone and the Bond between the Trainer and the Pokémon to be activated. I can't believe you, Alistair, can activate it yourself!" Ash exclaimed sincerely. The God Domain Level truly lived up to its name, like a divine being, capable of even forcibly activating something like a mega stone.
"It seems you humans have found a way to use this stone. If that's the case—I'll give this to you. I hope you and Dragonair can make good use of this power," Alistair said, dropping a bombshell.
