Besides her, Sizi.
Sizi was completely concentrating on her marshmallow, like she was not roasting it but rather planning a murder of it, so that no one would know.
Anning thought about it, and her lips instinctively curled on itself.
She had never seen Sizi concentrating before, since she always sits behind her. Now that she is looking, the feeling is a bit unnatural.
The warm glow of fire, falling directly on her face, dying it in blushing colours. Her eyebrows were slightly furrowed in concentration, and her plump lips in a thin line. The subjected marshmallow can be roasted fine, just by her narrowed eyes' glare.
The slant of her straight nose, with those full cheeks and sharp jawline, are really contrasting.
Seeing her, Anning's only thought were- Beautiful. Even more than beauty, there was a fiery courage in her eyes, that no one would notice if not seen deeply.
Some locks of her light brown hair were adorning the sides of her face, enhancing her sharp features.
Some beads of sweat were already forming on her temples due to the effort she is making. A bead of sweat slid all the way from her temples to jaws, and then after a moment followed further below in her open collars.
That naughty bead disappeared, and with it Anning swallowled hard, looking at those beautiful collarbones peeking from behind the barrier.
Anning, herself didn't know how long had she been looking at her when someone patted her shoulders. Thankfully, she didn't threw her skewer in the fire, otherwise it would have met the same fate as that of miss Lu's.
She looked up and saw Baizhi, eying her to make some room for her. She cleared her throat and shifted a bit on the side. Baizhi sat beside her, smiling but didn't said anything.
Anning again glanced at her, but found some guilt inside, blocking her throat from saying anything. She thought, perplexed-
What is this feeling ? Why my heart is beating so fast? I need to get some fresh air. The smoke is suffocating.
What smoke suffocation? The fire is already in its' prime.
She got up and excused herself, saying she was going to get some fresh air, the heat is too much.
Baizhi stared at her back, the smile on her face long faded.
She looked in the direction of Raya and Kritika. They both simultaneously looked away, pretending not to see anything.
Then turned her gaze toward Sizi. She was also looking at Anning's retreating back, now turning towards Baizhi, the confusion on her face apparent.
Oh ! She remembered.
Anning never likes heat, and mostly avoids the Sun and light. She has to suffer too much in summer, because of that.
Not many people know this because of her cold exterior, but she basically becomes a salted fish in summers.
Thoughtfully, Sizi again engrossed herself in roasting. Beside her professor Lu told her to stop it, the marshmallow is roasted enough.
The burning smell is still in the air.
Sizi stopped and put her skewer in her and miss Lu's shared basket. Then she got up and also went for some fresh air.
After seeing a certain person busy in something on her phone, she halted. She first looked at her from behind, but the person sensed her gaze and turned back.
Anning was just trying to cool down when she felt a gaze on her back. In this strange place, she could never keep her guard down. That's why she turned, vigilant, but instead saw Sizi standing there, hesitating if she should go or not.
She first got shocked to see her and guessed, she was also there to get some fresh air. Without waiting for her to say anything, she hastily made her way towards the bonfire.
Sizi seeing her sudden flee, got all the more confused and pulled her back by the wrists, without thinking anything.
When she realised what she did, then calmly took her hand back and studied Anning's wide eyed expression. Never in her dream she would have dared to grab her like this, but right now her instinct took her better.
She knew Anning don't like random physical touches, but what had just happened.
Why it happened.
Arghh....
She was struggling with herself when Anning, after glaring her moved her eyes to somewhere else and panicked.
Before Sizi could process anything, Anning was already on her heels, literally running by passing her.
Sizi turned and saw Baizhi's already retreating back and Anning following her, calling her name all the while. Seeing this, her couldn't help narrowing and her mood drastically drowned.
