Chapter 425 - Chapter 425 The Gold Case

Once again back at the Continental Hotel, Mina and the others had already had their injuries treated and were lying in their rooms receiving IV treatment.

Mina's injuries were slightly lighter, so she didn't receive an IV.

When Kane and Johnny pushed the door open and entered, Mina first looked at them warily, then relaxed.

"Resolved?"

Mina asked curiously, and Kane nodded, "All resolved. Gina has also been taken care of!"

As he spoke, his hands made an explosive gesture. Mina naturally breathed a sigh of relief; it was good that the problem was solved. As for their pursuit, it would automatically disappear after 24 hours.

After all, the employer was dead.

Then, Mina turned her gaze to A Xiang; she was a little wary of this woman.

A Xiang didn't feel anything about this; she just stood quietly by the door, observing the group.

Johnny turned to Qin Feng and Tang Ren, "I heard you still have a little trouble to solve, right?"

Hearing Johnny's question, Tang Ren immediately blurted out, "Yes, yes, I still have a problem to solve, you have to help me! I've helped you before."

Now he knew Johnny's capabilities. Such a formidable person, if he didn't keep him by his side to help him, when else would he?

Moreover, as long as Johnny was there, those so-called gangs would have no way to get close to him, and they wouldn't have to run for their lives; they could just openly solve this problem.

Seeing that Johnny was willing to help him, Qin Feng briefly described the problem Tang Ren encountered to Johnny.

In short, Tang Ren was hired to retrieve a box of Buddha statues from Sompat's workshop, but the workshop owner, Sompat, was killed by a blunt instrument that night, forming a locked room that only Tang Ren had entered and exited. Surveillance footage led the police to identify him as the sole murderer, and the gang believed that the gold had been taken by Tang Ren, so they began to hunt him down.

"Stop, stop! Hold on!"

Listening to Qin Feng's narration and Tang Ren's occasional additions, Johnny felt a headache. This case seemed a bit complicated, and he had long since forgotten the plot clearly.

He vaguely remembered that the gold seemed to still be at the murder scene, and that this incident was eventually solved, but he didn't remember the other details clearly.

"Then let's go to the scene and take another look. You should have most of the other clues, right?"

Johnny asked directly. Qin Feng nodded, "The general situation is indeed almost complete; it just needs some more detailed information."

Johnny nodded; that made things easier.

As for going to the scene, Johnny glanced at A Xiang, who could only nod helplessly, "Don't make a habit of it!"

With A Xiang's help, everything became very simple.

And so, half an hour later, Johnny, Tang Ren, and A Xiang arrived at the crime scene.

Located in an alley behind Chinatown in Bangkok, it was doubly enveloped by the fishy smell of the seafood market and the sandalwood of the incense shop. The rusted Thai sign "Sompat Buddha Statue Workshop" hung half-broken on the mottled wall.

It was a detached two-story tin house, with paint peeling from its exterior walls like a snake's skin. The second-floor vents were welded with anti-theft iron grilles, and the windowpanes were covered in grease.

Looking at the police tape, Johnny tore it off without a second thought and then pushed the door open.

The moment the door opened, a cloud of dust mixed with decaying wood, metal shavings, and incense ash rushed out.

The shoe rack on the left had toppled, and several mud-stained slippers were scattered on the ground. The offerings in the Thai Buddhist shrine on the wall had rotted and turned black.

Behind the door hung a string of Five Emperors copper coin wind chimes, with half a blood-stained fingernail subtly wedged in a bell's crevice.

Over thirty unfinished Buddha statues stood like ghostly figures, some with broken arms or missing heads, others with peeling gold lacquer. On the central workbench were scattered chisels, sandpaper, and an old-fashioned tape recorder.

Splattered blood on the ground had oxidized to a reddish-brown, extending to the base of a lathe.

The only light source in the room was a bare light bulb suspended above the workbench. A poor tungsten filament connection caused the light to flicker, casting dancing shadows in the pupils of the Buddha statues, as if the deities were watching with cold eyes.

Under a dilapidated sofa, crumpled gay magazines were stuffed, with the eyes of the cover models burned through by cigarette butts. The coffee table was piled with empty beer cans, and the ashtray was filled with half a bowl of cigarette butts, the top layer being a woman's cigarette with a fresh lipstick print.

After surveying the entire scene, Johnny looked at Qin Feng, "How is it? Any thoughts?"

Qin Feng stood in front of the Buddha statues outside, closing his eyes and beginning to ponder. He had actually been to this crime scene once before, but upon entering again, he seemed to have a different perspective.

"I have some ideas, but I'm not sure. I want to conduct a thorough simulation of the crime scene again." With that, Qin Feng began to move around, placing Tang Ren outside the door and having him simulate the actions of that day.

While the two were engrossed in their reenactment of the case, Johnny walked to the side, his eyes fixed on the Buddha statues.

Suddenly, Johnny raised his glock 34 and shouted loudly at the person behind the Buddha statues, "Come out, I see you!"

But the scene was silent; no one answered Johnny's words. Qin Feng and Tang Ren had already heard Johnny's shout and rushed over.

Qin Feng shined his flashlight behind, and indeed, there was half a piece of clothing behind the sedan chair.

"Don't think that just because there's no light, I don't know you're here. Your breathing has already given you away. Come out, don't force me to shoot!"

Johnny's hand steadily held the gun, pointing in that direction.

Suddenly, the person standing behind the Buddha statue violently pushed the statue down, trying to escape, but Johnny had already pulled the trigger.

Bang!

"Ah!!!"

A 9mm bullet instantly pierced the man's knee. He fell to the ground, crying out in pain. Tang Ren didn't care about anything else and rushed up to pin him down.

"Who are you!!!"

Tang Ren didn't recognize this man, but Qin Feng's pupils constricted. He recognized who this person was—wasn't this Sino's adoptive father?

"It's you? Mr. Li?"

He just couldn't understand why Mr. Li would appear at the crime scene.

Of course, he also guessed a possibility: that Sompat was killed by this Mr. Li, after all, only the murderer would think of returning to the crime scene to take a look, either to admire his masterpiece or to destroy the remaining evidence.

"So, you are the murderer who killed Sompat?"

But then again, it wasn't right. Mr. Li clearly had a perfect alibi, so what exactly was going on?

Qin Feng suddenly felt his brain wasn't working well enough. He closed his eyes, re-clarified all the clues, attempting to find a way to break the deadlock.

But Johnny walked straight over and fired another shot at his other leg.

Bang!

"Mr. Li, right? Listen, I don't have the patience to play guessing games with you here! My patience isn't that good."

Tang Ren and Qin Feng looked at Johnny's glock, speechless. But it had to be said that such violent methods were indeed very effective.

Let's just skim over the Detective Chinatown plot, after all, it's not a detective novel, so a quick mention is enough (mainly because I'm not good at reasoning, it gives me a headache), please don't be offended, fans of Detective Chinatown!
