Chapter 10 - The First Token Awakens

The morning sun had climbed high by the time Master Arjun Dev Rathore led me back down from the cliff path.

Every step sent a sharp ache through my legs.

My shoulders still burnt from carrying the stone block.

The bruise on my knee throbbed with every movement.

Yet inside me—

Something felt different.

Stronger.

As if the pain had carved space for something new.

The Iron General walked ahead in silence.

The sea wind carried the sharp scent of salt and distant rain.

For once, he did not lead me toward the War Hall arena.

Instead, he took the forest path.

The same ancient route that had led me to the heart of the island.

My breathing slowed.

My chest tightened.

I knew something was about to happen.

The forest opened.

Ancient pillars rose around the circular stone platform.

Twenty symbols glowed faintly in the daylight.

The sword.

The lotus.

The scale.

The coin.

The serpent.

The circuit.

Twenty halls.

Twenty destinies.

At the centre stood Acharya Raghunandan.

Beside him stood several masters.

Dr Meera Sen gave me a warm smile.

But tonight—

Their expressions were serious.

Almost ceremonial.

The Acharya slowly lifted his hand.

"Mukul."

His voice echoed softly through the chamber.

"Today, the island will decide whether your will has been acknowledged."

My heartbeat quickened.

Acknowledged?

The Iron General stepped behind me.

His voice was calm.

"Step into the centre."

I obeyed.

The moment my feet touched the circular seal carved into the stone—

The war token around my neck began to pulse.

Once.

Twice.

Then harder.

Heat spread across my chest.

I gasped.

The golden token rose on its own, floating before me.

Its light intensified.

The entire chamber darkened.

The pillars began to glow.

The sword symbol on the first pillar blazed brighter than the others.

The air trembled.

Then a voice echoed—not from outside, but from within my mind.

He recognised

First trial complete

Willpower threshold passed

My breath caught.

The light around the token burst outward.

A ring of golden energy swept through the chamber.

The pillars hummed.

The sea outside roared.

The War Hall emblem in the first slot ignited.

A beam of light shot upward into the sky.

4

The voice returned.

Louder.

Clearer.

War Hall Token – India

Former Leader Title: Supreme Marshal

Current Heir: Mukul Sharma

First Legacy Awakening Initiated

The words glowed in the air.

My name.

Again.

But this time it felt different.

Heavier.

More real.

The golden light surged toward me.

Before I could move, it entered my body.

A sharp pain exploded in my chest.

"Ah!"

I dropped to one knee.

Heat raced through my arms.

My legs.

My spine.

Every bruise I had suffered.

Every cut.

Every fall.

Every tear.

Every memory.

The swing.

The mango tree.

My family.

The path.

The stone block.

The blood.

Everything flashed before my eyes.

Then—

silence.

The pain disappeared.

I slowly looked down.

A faint golden mark had appeared on the back of my right hand.

The same sword-and-shield emblem as the token.

The first legacy mark.

My eyes widened.

Master Arjun stepped forward.

For the first time, there was unmistakable pride in his gaze.

"It has accepted you."

I looked at him.

"What happened?"

The Acharya answered.

"The first token has awakened."

His voice carried ancient certainty.

"The War Hall has acknowledged its heir."

A strange sensation moved through my body.

Not pain.

Strength.

I clenched my fist.

The movement felt lighter.

Sharper.

Faster.

As if my body understood something it had not before.

Arjun's voice came from behind.

"Strike the stone pillar."

I turned.

At the edge of the platform stood a thick training pillar made of black stone.

Yesterday, I wouldn't have been able to do anything to it.

I slowly walked toward it.

Raised my fist.

Then punched.

The impact echoed sharply.

A crack appeared across the surface.

I froze.

So did the other masters.

I stared at the pillar.

Then at my hand.

I had barely touched it.

Arjun's lips curved into the faintest smile.

"The first gift of the War Hall."

"Enhanced physical force."

My breath caught.

Power.

Real power.

The Acharya raised his hand again.

More glowing text appeared.

Legacy Ability Unlocked

Passive Skill: Combat Instinct

Effect: Enhanced reaction speed and body awareness

The words shimmered before fading.

Combat instinct.

My heart pounded.

The Iron General stepped closer.

"This is only the beginning."

His gaze sharpened.

"One token awakened."

"Nineteen remain."

The enormity of those words settled into my chest.

This was only the first.

Only the beginning.

Yet it already felt like the world had shifted.

I slowly touched the mark on my hand.

Warm.

Alive.

The symbol pulsed once.

Then I heard it.

A whisper.

Soft.

Almost like the sea itself speaking.

Grow stronger.

I looked up.

At the twenty pillars.

At the nineteen still-sleeping symbols.

In the sky above.

Then at my own hand.

The child who had arrived frightened and alone was still inside me.

But now—

There was something else.

The beginning of a sovereign.

I lifted my chin.

Then looked at the masters.

"I'll awaken all of them."

Silence filled the chamber.

Then Acharya Raghunandan smiled.

The kind of smile that belonged to someone watching destiny unfold exactly as foretold.

The Iron General's voice came like thunder.

"Good."

His sharp eyes gleamed.

"Then let the world prepare itself."

The chamber glowed once more.

And beneath the twenty ancient pillars—

The first token had awakened.
