The lanterns of Konoha cast golden streaks across the stone road as Raven and Yumi walked side by side, shadows stretching long beneath their feet.
"You know, the timeline we've created here—it's completely thrown off the original track of what this world was supposed to follow, Raven," Yumi said, her tails swaying gently behind her.
Raven nodded once. "I'm well aware."
They passed closed merchant stalls and quiet windows lit up with faint evening light as they approached the familiar street near the Krusty Kunai.
"But so what?" Raven continued. "I'm already in touch with Tsunade, and I've also reached out to Mei Terumī—the future Mizukage of Kirigakure."
Yumi's golden eyes narrowed slightly with amused suspicion. "It looks like you're getting involved with some of the most beautiful and powerful women in the Elemental Nations. Is there any scheme behind this, Raven?"
Raven's mouth twitched faintly. "As if. I just happen to know a lot of women."
"That makes sense," Yumi said, thoughtful now. "You were someone powerful in your previous life."
She flicked her tails behind her with a soft rustle.
"Speaking of Mei Terumī—she's sent quite a few shinobi to the Village Hidden in the Land of Whirlpools, the one you reestablished. They've all adapted to life there. The seal you placed on them—the one that prevents them from leaving—seems to have been accepted. They're content living under that arrangement."
"I'm aware they're content," Raven said, folding her hands behind her back. "Just because they can't leave doesn't mean they're not loyal to Mei's plans—or mine. They're becoming a strong force for both of us. When she finally rebels against Yagura Karatachi, the Fourth Mizukage, her soldiers will already be ready."
"That's true," Yumi said. "Mei will probably begin her move to seize Kirigakure soon. She'll become Mizukage much earlier than in the original timeline. That'll destabilize the Elemental Nations, but it'll also keep the Bloody Mist policies from resurfacing."
"Exactly," Raven said. "I'd say within the next two to three years, she'll rise to power. When that happens, I'll go there personally to help with the transition. I'll bring Riko, maybe even Tsunade—and if possible, recruit Mikoto too. Having a Kage-level Uchiha on our side would make the shift much easier."
Yumi gave a soft hum of agreement as the Krusty Kunai came into view.
"Well… we're back," Raven said. "Let's get some sleep."
They stepped inside. Raven slipped off her sandals and climbed into bed. Yumi curled up at the foot, her nine white tails wrapping around her like a drifting cloud.
As Raven's breathing slowed, Yumi opened her golden eyes and gazed at her quietly.
Raven Kamazaki… Kushina Uzumaki… you've truly grown. You're defying fate and every constraint destiny set before you. Those who surrounded you in your past life—they're all growing stronger in this one. Mikoto, Mei, Tsunade… all powerful women in their own right. Perhaps one day they'll become too powerful for even you to control.
The faint light from the window caught in Yumi's fur as she lowered her head again. Night passed quietly.
Morning sunlight spilled across the Kamazaki home. Raven stretched and yawned, rubbing her eyes as birds chirped outside.
Downstairs, she could already hear her parents, Chiyo and Seijirō, working in the kitchen.
She reached out and tapped Yumi, still snoozing at the foot of the bed. "Yumi, come on. Let's go get Hinata—we have to meet with Mikoto. On the way, we'll pick up Ino and Naruto."
Yumi yawned, her tails swishing lazily. "All right, all right. Let's go."
"Good. Let's move."
Raven quickly dressed, brushed her teeth, and tied her hair back. Then the two stepped into the early streets of Konoha, making their way toward the Hyūga compound.
When they reached the outer wall, Raven held up a hand. "Watch the area for me, Yumi. I'm going to sneak in and get Hinata."
Yumi gave a nod. "Got it."
Raven formed a rapid series of hand seals. A soft shimmer of chakra enveloped her. In the next instant, her form was that of a dignified Hyūga elder, her features aged and lined, her eyes pale with a false Byakugan.
She walked calmly to the main gate. Two guards stood at attention, their Byakugan active. They scanned her thoroughly—but the illusion held.
My Rinnegan's allows me to bypass the Byakugan's natural detection ability, Raven thought. Even Hiashi Hyūga himself couldn't see through this disguise right now.
One of the guards bowed slightly. "Greetings, Elder."
Raven returned the nod silently and continued walking. She moved through the compound with practiced poise until she reached the inner garden, where Hinata knelt by a bed of delicate flowers.
The disguised "elder" stepped closer. Hinata looked up, startled but polite.
"E-Elder, is there something I can help you with?"
Raven let the Transformation Jutsu dissolve in a puff of chakra. Her small frame, white hair, and violet eyes reappeared in the sunlight.
Hinata's face lit up. "Raven! You came to visit me again! I still can't tell whenever you use that Transformation Jutsu."
"It's good to see you, Hinata," Raven said gently. "How have you been since the kidnapping?"
"I've been really good! I've been training hard—just like you taught me."
"Excellent. I'm taking you out of the Hyūga compound today. We're going to train with the Uchiha."
Hinata blinked. "Is that okay? Won't my father be upset?"
Raven gave a light laugh. "Who would dare question an elder of the Hyūga clan?"
Hinata giggled. "My father sure won't. He practically lives and breathes whatever the elders tell him."
"Exactly the beauty of posing as one."
Hinata smiled shyly. "All right. I'll follow you out."
