In the core area of the Extreme North Land, everything was quiet. At this moment, even the never-ending blizzard seemed to hold its breath. As the Snow Empress finished speaking, two huge and deep powers were finally separated from the bodies of the two rulers of the Extreme North Land. These powers were the Origin powers of the two great beasts.
On the Ice Empress, a bright green light was no longer just covering her skin. It was pulled away like a real object from the center of her jade-like scorpion body. The light then turned into a green halo. Inside the halo, many tiny ice stars seemed to flow. It gave off the strong feeling of Ultimate Ice. The moment this halo appeared, the air around them seemed to freeze solid.
From the chest of the Snow Empress, a pale white halo that was almost clear emerged. It was not too bright to look at. In fact, it looked quite soft. However, it held Ultimate Ice and a huge amount of energy. This energy was even purer than that of the Ice Empress. It was closer to the very beginning of the laws of ice and snow. It felt as if an entire ice age was packed inside that small space.
As these two halos left their bodies and floated in the air, things changed. These halos represented their soul cores and the source of their power. The bright green eyes of the Ice Jade Emperor Scorpion and the blue eyes of the Snow Empress lost their shine. They became dim instantly. This was because they had released their mental force origin.
This process of releasing the mental force origin is not easy. It is not something a normal Spirit Beast can do. Only a Spirit Beast that has lived for over one hundred thousand years can do this. For very strong leaders like the Snow Empress and the Ice Empress, it was not a problem at all.
Soon, these two halos moved toward the golden giant. They seemed to be pulled by a force that no one could see. They flew toward the giant dragon that had black light around it. The giant dragon raised its head. You could not see any emotion on its face. Then, it suddenly opened its huge mouth. It looked like it could swallow the stars in the sky.
There was no sound, but a huge pulling force came out. It was like a giant whale in the ocean sucking in a whole river. The green and white halos were pulled in without any way to fight back. They turned into two streaks of light and went into the mouth of the golden giant in a second.
The moment the halos entered its body, the golden giant shook very hard. Its black scales and gold patterns began to shine with a light never seen before. Black, white, gold, and green colors mixed together inside its body. They fought each other at first, but a higher power guided them. They began to join together in a process called fusion.
At that moment, a small gold light lit up on the forehead of Tang Chen. A soft gold light covered his head. His mental force sea also turned gold. That light was gentle and steady. It protected Tang Chen's mind, which was shaking wildly. It was like the hand of a mother gently calming down a child who was in great pain.
This fusion was not going to happen all at once. First, the bones had to join, and then the spirit. The Ice Empress gave the torso bone. The green energy moved quickly toward the chest and spine of Tang Chen. It carried the pride of the Scorpion Emperor and the sharpness of Ultimate Ice. The green halo felt like it wanted to freeze the top half of Tang Chen's body from the inside.
His body started to shake a lot. At this moment, he felt a sharp pain in his lower back. It felt as if something had pierced him. At the same time, the head spirit bone from the Snow Empress began to join as well. The white light moved toward his head. It looked soft, but it was very strong.
Suddenly, Tang Chen felt a very bad itch in his chest and his head. It felt like thousands of ants were crawling over his bones and through his blood. It was an itch that he could feel deep inside. He wanted to tear his body apart just to make the feeling stop.
A moment later, Tang Chen's whole body was shaking. His skin turned white with frost. His face looked gray and pale. He bit his teeth together and made a small sound of pain. It looked like he might explode or freeze into a block of ice at any second.
Just when the fusion was about to fail, Xiao Rui'er acted. She had been watching Tang Chen with worry in her gold eyes. She knew that using normal spirit power would not help him. In fact, it might make things worse. She decided to use her special power as the Emperor Auspicious Beast. This power brought peace and luck.
Without waiting, Xiao Rui'er pulled open her collar in the cold wind. Her gold dress fell to the ground. Her skin was white like jade. Her body was shaking because of the cold, but she did not care. She opened her arms and hugged Tang Chen from behind. She held him very tight with a lot of love.
The moment their skin touched, a sound like a hum filled the air. A warm and bright gold light came out from the body of Xiao Rui'er. This light was not hot, but it was strong enough to push away the cold. It covered both of them like a gold cocoon. It kept them safe from the blizzard and the freezing wind outside. This power was like the first light of spring on a frozen field.
Several hours of pain passed slowly. The spirit bones finally finished joining with Tang Chen's body. Then, the spirit rings began their final fusion. These rings represented the life and power of the two rulers. The green and white halos melted into Tang Chen's mind and body. They moved like two rivers of ice into the place he had saved for his second spirit.
The million-year power of the Tianmeng Ice Silkworm helped guide the energy. The white energy from the Snow Empress went first. It was pure and strong. It carried the power of the world of ice. Slowly, it began to take the shape of a brand new spirit.
Three days went by. The blizzard in the Extreme North area did not change, even though the two rulers were gone. Under the gray sky, a red light suddenly flew across the air. It looked like a falling star made of fire. It came from the deep ice and headed south.
Inside that red light were Tang Chen and Xiao Rui'er. They were sitting on the back of the Red King. Tang Chen looked different than he did three days ago. He sat quietly, and his face was still a bit pale. He had used too much energy and was not fully healed yet. However, his eyes looked deeper now.
When he opened his eyes, his left eye had a blue light like ice. His right eye had a green light. His whole body gave off a cold feeling that made the air feel heavy. This was the power of Ultimate Ice.
Xiao Rui'er sat close to him. Her long gold hair blew in the wind. She looked tired because she had used so much of her own power to help him. But when she felt the new, steady energy inside Tang Chen, she smiled. She was happy that he was safe and stronger.
They flew for about thirty minutes. Once they were away from the coldest part of the ice lands, Xiao Rui'er looked at Tang Chen. She spoke softly to the quiet boy. She asked him where they were going next.
Tang Chen heard her and reached into his clothes. He pulled out an old map of the land. He opened the map in his hands and looked at it quickly. His finger moved down the map along the path toward the south. Finally, his finger stopped at a small mark on the map. It was a city in the north of the Star Luo Empire.
He told her they were going to Longxing City. His voice was calm but firm. Xiao Rui'er looked confused. She did not know that place. Tang Chen drew a line on the map with his finger. The line went from where they were, through a city and some mountains, and ended at the Star Dou Great Forest.
He explained that they would take a shortcut through Longxing City. He kept looking at the map while he spoke. He said that this way would be much faster than going around the border of the Heaven Dou Empire to get back home. Yu Xiaogang had always taught that efficiency was important, and Tang Chen intended to follow that logic as they moved toward their next goal.
