Chapter 79 - DDF Induction

Previously on Spoilt Brat Suddenly Becomes an Aura Farmer, the boys effortlessly and systematically took down an entire catastrophic vanguard army of high-tier demons, as they always do when the chips are down. However, out in the rumors of the lower ranks and among the tactical strategists, people are already beginning to wildly speculate. Word on the street is that the strongest of the invading demon army was supposedly giving Hakuna somewhat of a surprisingly hard time before the final blow. What on earth could that mean for the hierarchy? Is the legendary powerhouse losing his edge, or is something far more sinister brewing beneath the surface?

Fade in…

…Inside the Inner Sanctum of the DDF Command Center…

The room is dimly lit, away from the chaotic flashing lights of the main defensive grids. Hakuna is seen standing perfectly still in front of a pristine, heavily reinforced glass security case. His frame is cast in shadow as his eyes trace the familiar contours of the items safely locked inside: his old, faded Matric Jacket and the legendary, gleaming BBC ring resting on a velvet cushion. The symbols of everything he left behind for a whole year are just inches away from his fingertips.

The heavy automatic door slides open without a sound. Super appears directly behind him, leaning against the door frame with his arms crossed, his gaze fixed on his friend's broad back.

The silence stretches for a long moment before Super breaks it, his tone dropping into a serious, uncharacteristic quiet. "You know, we never actually got a chance to talk about why you put them down in the first place… and just vanished off the face of the earth like that without telling a single soul why."

Hakuna doesn't turn around. He keeps his eyes locked on the glass case, deliberately avoiding the emotional weight of the question by throwing out a flat deflection. "Well, the important thing is that I'm back now, so it shouldn't really be an issue anymore, right?"

Super doesn't buy the deflection for a second. He continues gazing intently toward Hakuna's profile, a deeply worried, analytical expression wrinkling his brow as he studies his eternal rival's altered demeanor.

Before the tension can escalate, the heavy door slides open again. Enzo walks into the private display room, a stack of high-level digital tablets tucked under his arm, his sharp eyes scanning the two founding members.

He stops beside them, breaking the heavy atmosphere as he remarks, "Well, looking at you now, you certainly seem entirely ready to get right back into the thick of the action."

Hakuna responds impatiently, his voice sharp and laced with a year's worth of suppressed urgency as he points a finger directly toward the reinforced display container. "Yeah. Exactly. So go ahead, open it up, and give me my things back."

Enzo stops in his tracks, looking down at his tablet as he mutters with a highly suspicious lack of eye contact, "About that…"

CUT SHIFT!

The scene violently cuts forward in time with a dizzying transition.

Hakuna is suddenly, inexplicably seen standing in perfect, rigid military formation out on a massive, dusty parade ground, surrounded by hundreds of young recruits during a live induction drill. His jaw is completely slack in pure, unadulterated shock as he screams out loud to the heavens, "What the F—?!"

…Back in Enzo's Briefing Office…

The memory flashes back to clarify the absolute absurdity of the situation. Hakuna is leaning over Enzo's desk, querying the commander with an intensely irritated expression. "What exactly do you mean by 'About that…'? Let me tell you something, Enzo: phrases like 'about that' never, ever end well."

Enzo sighs, adjusting his glasses as he tries to frame his words carefully. "Look at it from a bureaucratic perspective, Hakuna. We can't just let everyone in the lower ranks think you arrived out of nowhere as a complete rookie and immediately got handed a permanent seat at the high table without earning it under the new system."

Hakuna stares at him flatly, his arms crossed over his massive chest. "I don't understand a single word of the corporate nonsense you are spewing right now."

Enzo mutters defensively, clicking through his digital files, "Well, to be completely frank with you, ever since that skirmish, people are starting to seriously doubt your actual capabilities. They think you've gone soft over the year, and we don't want things to spiral out of hand with the public image, so…"

Hakuna immediately interjects, cutting off the administrative rambling with an absolute bar of modern wisdom. "The bush is not your girlfriend, bro. Stop caressing its edges and just tell me the truth."

The entire room goes dead silent.

Eh…?

Super blinks, his brain completely short-circuiting as he mutters, "Eh…?"

Enzo stops typing, staring at Hakuna with a look of profound intellectual confusion. "Eh…?"

Hakuna, finally noticing the absolute blank stares of confusion consuming his friends' faces, rolls his eyes and clarifies his metaphor. "What is it that you are actually trying to say to me? Quit beating around the bush."

Enzo clears his throat, coughing into his hand as he finally drops the hammer. "I think you should officially start from the absolute bottom of the rank structure."

Hakuna's voice drops into a flat, dangerous whisper. "Say what now?"

Enzo continues quickly, holding his hands up defensively. "You know how the new protocol works. You attend the standard tactical classes, you complete the basic physical training drills, and uhh… you build your reputation back up from scratch within the academy."

Hakuna interjects instantly, his eyebrows furrowing. "Did a single one of you guys actually have to go through any of that garbage when I was gone?"

Enzo replies honestly, "No, not at all. But look at the bright side! It's a wonderful chance for you to casually show off your incredible skills to the new generation!"

Hakuna lets out a long, exhausted sigh, slumping his shoulders. "Whatever… just let me get this over with."

…And Now…

…Back on the Live Parade Ground…

The scorching midday sun beats down mercilessly on the concrete arena. Hakuna stands in the center of the formation, sweating in a standard trainee uniform as he exasperates sarcastically under his breath, "What a wonderful, productive day this has turned out to be…"

"PARADE!"

A booming, earth-shattering voice suddenly yells across the entire courtyard, vibrating through the teeth of every single recruit in the sector.

Instantly, the entire crowd of trainees shifts in pure, instinctual fear, scrambling to stand in a single, flawless file line composed of two perfectly aligned rows.

The man who shouted walks out from the shadow of the command tower. His name is Tshidiso, a legendary, battle-hardened instructor whose very presence radiates an overwhelming aura of old-school military discipline. He paces slowly in front of the trembling recruits, his eyes cold as he projects his voice across the concrete. "I don't know who any of you are, nor do I particularly care to learn your names. You don't know who I am either, and you probably should care deeply about that fact, because if you don't, then why are you even standing here in my courtyard?"

Hakuna stands in the back row, staring at the back of the instructor's bald head as he thinks to himself with deep sarcasm, "Well, he's certainly an interesting, highly stereotypical character choice for this arc…"

Tshidiso continues his slow pace, his boots clicking rhythmically. "I am going to do each and every one of you a massive favor today. For these next few precious seconds, I am going to make your miserable lives a tiny bit easier by properly introducing myself…"

Hakuna, completely unable to contain his frustration with the generic structure of the scene, breaks formation and says out loud to the empty sky, "Author, you and I both know that makes absolutely no logical sense whatsoever?"

As he speaks, he shifts his arms, a heavy metallic clinking sound echoing from his limbs. He thinks to himself in genuine annoyance, "And why on earth are we wearing these incredibly weird weights in the first place?"

Tshidiso stops dead in his tracks. He slowly turns his head, his terrifying gaze locking directly onto Hakuna. "Did I give you explicit permission to speak out of turn, trainee?"

Immediately as the last syllable leaves the instructor's mouth, he slams his hand down onto a remote control console at his hip.

BOOM!

Without warning, the high-density gravity weights attached to everyone's limbs instantly activate. The sudden, catastrophic spike in downward force causes every single student on the field to instantly collapse face-first to the ground, crying out in agonizing pain as they are pinned flat against the concrete.

Hakuna finds his posture violently pulled downward, his fists slamming into the ground as he thinks to himself frantically, "Wait a minute… why the hell are these things so incredibly heavy? This isn't normal tech."

Tshidiso walks over the groaning bodies, explaining with a cruel smirk, "The high-density weights strapped to everyone's limbs are dynamically adjusted via biometric scanning to match the absolute maximum weight each specific individual can physically lift. And at this exact moment in time, I've manually set the system to a weight output just above your absolute maximum threshold limit."

The instructor halts right in front of Hakuna. He looks down and notices that the sheer, unyielding force of Hakuna's arms falling to the ground didn't just pin him—it actually shattered the reinforced concrete, creating a deep, localized structural crater around his hands.

Tshidiso continues his lecture, aiming his words directly at the struggling fighter. "Yes, even you, Ntlamele. I don't care about your ancient status as a legendary founding member. The founding members themselves fear my training regimens. And now, we're left with you."

Hakuna is seen seemingly struggling with immense effort, his muscles bulging as he slowly, agonizingly forces his arms to move against the ungodly weight.

Tshidiso looks down in pure academic curiosity, asking, "Why are you even attempting to lift them, boy? You know for a factual certainty that you physically can't overcome the limit."

Hakuna strains against the pressure, his voice raspy and tight as he grunts out, "I'm… not… trying… to… lift… them… up…"

Tshidiso blinks, muttering in confusion, "Huh? What do you mean by that?"

Hakuna's jaw tightens, his knuckles turning pure white as he forces out the rest of the sentence: "I'm… trying… to… stop them from dragging my hands down… into the earth's core…"

BEEP!

Tshidiso's face goes completely pale. In absolute, stark disbelief at the kinetic data flashing on his tablet, he deactivates the entire gravity weight system immediately. The recruits all let out a collective gasp of relief as the pressure vanishes.

Tshidiso stands frozen, his mind racing as he thinks to himself in absolute terror, "What on earth is this monster made of? Can he physically lift the weight of the planet itself?!"

Suddenly, the instructor's high-frequency tactical radio begins to loudly ring. He pulls it from his belt with a trembling hand, answering quickly, "Yes? Speak to me."

The voice of a lead research Tech on the other end of the line cuts through the static, sounding completely panicked. "Uhh, sir? Is everything completely well with your camp's diagnostic systems right now?"

Tshidiso adjusts his stance, trying to maintain his military composure. "Yes, the camp is operational. What exactly is the issue, Tech?"

The Tech on the phone stammers, the sound of keyboard keys clicking furiously in the background. "Well, sir… I am entirely unsure if this is a massive hardware malfunction, but according to our global power grid telemetry, there appears to be a single student currently registered in your camp who is physically capable of lifting the mass of our very own solar system."

Tshidiso utters in pure, unadulterated shock, his eyes widening to the size of saucers, "Ah! What?!"

The Tech continues, his voice cracking with anxiety. "Yes, sir, that's what the readout says. But like I said, this may very well be a massive system malfunction. We are completely recalibrating the main mainframe as we speak to fix the glitch."

Tshidiso slowly lowers the radio, muttering under his breath in a state of profound awe, "Hmm… those Founding Members… what an incredibly interesting, terrifying bunch of freaks."

Later That Day…

…Inside the Main Academy Sector Classroom…

The afternoon sun filters through the high windows, casting long shadows across the rows of desks. Hakuna is seen sitting completely isolated in the very back row of one of the empty classrooms, staring blankly and thoroughly bored out the clear glass window at the clouds passing by.

A sharp, arrogant voice suddenly cuts through the peaceful silence of the room. "You're nothing but a total fraud, aren't you?"

Hakuna doesn't even move his head. He merely sighs, uttering with deep exhaustion, "Excuse me?"

The voice belongs to a highly ranked student named Luvuyo, who is standing in the doorway with his arms crossed, a cocky smirk plastered across his face. He walks down the aisle, continuing his confrontation. "Everyone saw the data logs from the fight you had with that demon outside. You're barely even equal to the baseline strength of the current Founding Members. You're living on old credit."

"Oh? Is that what the everyone is saying?" Hakuna mutters, his tone remaining entirely flat and unbothered.

Luvuyo, not waiting for a single second of logical response, narrows his eyes and snarls, "I'm going to personally expose you to the entire academy for the pathetic fake that you truly are…"

ZIP!

With a flash of high-speed movement tech, Luvuyo instantly vanishes from the room, leaving a small gust of wind behind him.

Hakuna is left sitting entirely alone, blinking in absolute, genuine confusion as he says to the empty room, "Huh…?"

…Moments Later…

…Inside the Student Dormitory Quarters…

Hakuna is seen calmly walking down the long, metallic corridor toward his newly predestined living quarters. As he pushes the heavy door open and walks in, he immediately encounters five men—his new roommates—all sitting around the common area looking incredibly hostile.

Wanting to keep things civil, Hakuna offers a small, polite wave as he introduces himself. "Oh, hello there, guys. My name is—"

Zamokuhle, another prominent elite student sitting on the central bunk, rudely interjects before he can finish, his voice dripping with cold arrogance. "Hakuna Ntlamele. We already know exactly who you are, Lost Member."

Hakuna lowers his hand, nodding slowly as he surveys the cold room. "Not exactly the welcoming type. Got it…"

He walks over to inspect the room layout, tracing his eyes along the floor plan until he finds his assigned mattress. He thinks to himself with a deadpan expression, "Strangely, my bed is positioned right next to the main entry door, which makes absolutely no tactical sense, but okay, whatever."

He tosses his duffel bag onto the mattress, placing his basic personal belongings down on the frame. As he does so, he remembers something important, saying out loud to himself, "Hmm, I should probably check my laptop."

He reaches his hand casually out to his empty side, focusing his mind for a brief second.

Luvuyo, who was sitting on the top bunk across the room, glares down at him and questions aggressively, "The actual fuck are you talking to right now, fraud?"

Hakuna, entirely locked into his mid-focus state, merely mutters an distracted, "Heh?"

The exact microsecond the word leaves his lips, the physical reality right next to his hip violently splits open, forming a glowing, shimmering pocket dimension. Hakuna casually reaches his hand deep inside the rift, grabbing a sleek laptop straight out of the spatial pocket—effortlessly utilizing the latent inheritance of Nolitha's cosmic powers that he had absorbed.

The spatial pocket instantly snaps shut with a quiet pop the exact moment the laptop is pulled free.

The entire room goes dead silent. Every single one of the five roommates stares at him with wide, completely horrified eyes, their jaws dropping at the casual display of reality-bending power.

Hakuna, completely oblivious to the shock he just caused, opens the screen and looks up at them. "What?"

Luvuyo instantly blurs from the top bunk, reappearing directly in front of Hakuna's face as he snarls, "Showing off your flashy, pseudo-godlike powers will never impress any of us, Lost Member! We know it's a parlor trick!"

Hakuna stands there, completely unbothered, completely unmoved, and completely unimpressed by the display of aggression. He raises a hand, murmuring calmly, "Look, I-I wasn't even trying to—"

Luvuyo interjects violently, slamming his fist against the bedpost. "Save your pathetic explanations for when I officially kick your ass in the arena! I bet you aren't even close to the level of the actual founding members!"

Hakuna, who initially held a mild expression of confusion, slowly lets his features shift into a completely blank, straight face. The temperature in the room seems to drop.

Luvuyo taunts him further, leaning in with a malicious grin. "Ohh, look at that, guys! Looks like I finally struck a sensitive nerve!"

Hakuna interjects calmly, his voice steady and cold. "No, not at all. I just finally realized exactly who you remind me of."

Luvuyo blinks, muttering, "Huh? What are you talking about?"

Hakuna looks him dead in the eyes, effortlessly deducing his entire psychological profile aloud. "You desperately want to see me get angry. You want me to fight you right here. You honestly think that if you can somehow beat me in a brawl, it will finally impress the founding members and secure your legacy. But let me tell you something: that strategy won't work on me. One thing I absolutely will not do is fight for no valid reason. Do you pose an active, existential threat to my life? No. Do you pose a threat to the people I actually care about? No. Do you pose a threat to innocent human life? No. So why, oh why, do you think you are worth the manual trouble of me lifting my arm?"

ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAR!

Before Luvuyo can even process the absolute verbal demolition, a colossal, earth-shattering roar explodes from the center of the academy grounds outside. The sheer, concentrated volume of the sound wave is so intensely powerful that even Hakuna's reinforced Titanium Skeleton begins to violently vibrate and reverberate within his flesh.

Hakuna glances out the window, noticing that none of the automated defensive alarms are making a sound. "Undetected? What on earth does that mean?"

Luvuyo quickly regains his composure, adjusting his gear as he says confidently, "I'd love to stay and entertain your cowardice just a little bit more, but fortunately, I have far better things to do than talk to a fake."

With that, all five roommates sprint out of the dormitory door at maximum speed, leaving Hakuna standing alone in the room.

Hakuna closes his laptop, setting it down calmly before addressing the shadows. "Psycha."

A dark, swirling energy manifests above his shoulder as Psycha responds smoothly, "Yup? I'm listening, kid."

Hakuna walks toward the door, asking, "Do you have any actual idea of what's going on with the sensors out there?"

Psycha, who was initially not paying any attention to the mortal world, yawns and stretches. "Hm? Oh, that? Demons adapt incredibly easily to the specific things that thwart them in combat. It's the primary reason why we are able to bypass human technology so effortlessly. Think about it: humans invented heavy machinery that channels the mythical 'Holy Frequency,' so we naturally found ways to ignore its resonance. They made advanced Daemonium sensors to track our heat, and we simply learned to become entirely invisible to their radar."

Hakuna walks down the hallway, pondering the words. "You know, I always had a working theory that somehow, deep down, demons are just regular humans who just took a wrong turn along the way and ended up going to hell."

Psycha lets out a sharp, mocking laugh. "Unfortunately for your philosophy, no. However, you are actually a tiny bit close to the historical truth."

Hakuna mutters, stopping at the exit, "Huh? What do you mean by that?"

Psycha continues the deep lore drop, her voice turning ancient. "Just like humans, we demons have a mother. I am entirely unaware if we actually have a father, or if Arkhagos himself fulfills that role, but Lilith—our true mother—was originally Adam's very first wife. That makes her human, in some cosmic way, though she did stray incredibly far from the light. See, Arkhagos desperately wanted perfect, unyielding warriors. And Lilith was a completely crazy human woman who somehow developed the weird, anomalous ability to completely reject all forms of emotional attachment."

Hakuna nods slowly, absorbing the information. "Yeah… that actually makes a lot of sense."

Psycha shifts her form, mentioning casually, "You know those humans out there won't be able to defeat that thing on their own, right?"

Hakuna lets out a long, reluctant groan. "Fine… let's go save them."

…Out on the Main Campus Plaza…

The massive demon lets out another palpable rumble, the sound wave shattering the windows of the surrounding educational buildings.

Luvuyo stands in the front line of defense, his weapon trembling slightly as he says rhetorically to his squad, "Right… well, this is going to be incredibly difficult."

The beast is towering over absolutely any and everything in the immediate vicinity, its colossal, mountainous silhouette easily visible from the completely opposite side of the city skyline.

Suddenly, a calm figure is seen walking straight past the terrified lines of students. Hakuna walks right into the danger zone, completely relaxed as he seemingly reprimands the mountain-sized demon like he would an annoying house pet. "What the hell do you actually want, you oversized lizard?!"

The colossal demon stops its rampage, its massive, glowing eyes locking straight down onto Hakuna's small form.

Hakuna continues walking forward, waving his hand dismissively. "There is absolutely no physical, logical reason for you to not only choose to attack this specific academy today, but to be that unnecessarily big while doing it. It's ridiculous."

The demon lets out a low, menacing growl, its scales bristling with dark energy.

Hakuna sighs, stopping a few meters away. "Now, look here. You can just go on ahead and leave right now. Come back later when I'm not incredibly busy with paperwork or something. Seriously, how did you even fit your massive body into this courtyard area?!"

The demon, thoroughly enraged by the utter lack of fear, prepares a catastrophic counter-attack.

WHIP!

With blinding speed, it violently swings its colossal, spiked tail across the campus, completely destroying the roofs of all the dormitory rooms to its left in a single sweep—one of which happens to be Hakuna's exact room. The massive tail flies through the air, targeting Hakuna's head with enough force to level a mountain.

Luvuyo screams from the sidelines in absolute panic, "Watch out, you idiot! Get out of the way!"

CLANG!

An explosive shockwave tears through the plaza, blowing all the surrounding students and instructors straight back onto their assets.

When the dust clears, Hakuna is seen standing perfectly still, having caught the massive, speeding demon tail with a single hand with absolutely little to no physical effort.

Luvuyo stares from the dirt, muttering in pure, unadulterated awe, "What… what kind of strength is that?"

Hakuna's head slowly drops, a dark, terrifying anger consuming his expression as he looks at his hand. He speaks, his voice vibrating with pure fury. "I explicitly tell you to your face that I am busy… and you choose to destroy my brand new room?!"

He violently raises his head to face the towering beast, his eyes suddenly glowing a brilliant, intense light brown color with catastrophic energy.

The moment his power flares, a crushing, suffocating spiritual pressure expands across the entire city. The sheer, unyielding immensity of his building power physically brings dozens of nearby students and senior instructors straight to their knees, their bodies trembling under the weight.

Luvuyo struggles to breathe, his mind racing as he thinks to himself while straining against the gravity, "Why… why is his power so completely overwhelming?"

Hakuna tightens his grip, brutally squeezing the demon's tail with his bare fingers, causing the massive beast to let out an agonizing, high-pitched screech. In a frantic bid for survival, the demon angrily opens its jaws, compressing a massive beam of destructive energy directly in front of Hakuna's face.

Hakuna watches the energy gather, saying coldly, "I really thought we were going to have a mutual understanding here…"

The exact millisecond the demon fires its catastrophic energy beam, Hakuna simply raises his left arm toward the beast's chest, his fingers extending as he calls upon his absolute signature technique:

"Kihimurra."

FLASH!

A blinding, colossal blast of pure, unmitigated brown energy erupts from his palm, illuminating the entire region from afar. The massive beam completely envelops the upper half of the demon's massive body. When the blinding light finally fades from the sky, absolutely nothing can be seen of the monster save for its severed lower legs standing in the crater.

Without missing a beat, Hakuna walks up and casually kicks the remaining lower body mass straight up into deep space, sending it flying out of the atmosphere like a football.

He lowers his arm, turning his back on the destruction as he mutters to himself, "Alright, that does it. I officially need to go have a serious meeting with your founding members right now."

BOOM!

Before anyone can even utter a syllable, Hakuna takes off, flying away into the horizon with tremendous, reality-breaking speed that shatters the sound barrier.

Zamokuhle stands up from the rubble, his voice shaking as he mutters, "He's… he's way too powerful to be human…"

Luvuyo stares up at the empty sky where the demon used to be, his arrogance completely shattered as he replies in a quiet whisper, "Yeah… he really is."
