Chapter 48: The Deployment of Souls
Inside the obsidian walls of the mansion, Damon sat across from Toby, the strategist whose potential he had unlocked. On the table lay a map of two worlds: the chaotic, mana-saturated Earth and the silent, absolute Sanctuary of Damon's home dimension.
"The Rank 1 Player is staying silent," Toby observed, tapping a finger on the desk. "He is smart. He knows the 'Noise' would only draw your ire. But we must be efficient with the resources we extracted."
Toby pointed to the ten blue orbs—the souls of the assassins—and the larger, golden-tinged orb that was Ryker. "The assassins are Earth-born. They know the geography and the low-light tactics of this world. We should re-summon them here. Let them be the invisible 'Scars' of this mansion. Anyone who enters without permission will simply cease to exist. They will be the perfect protectors of your peace."
"And Ryker?" Damon asked, his eyes cold.
"Ryker was a Diamond Master," Toby said with a sharp smile. "His power is wasted guarding a house on Earth. Take him back to your world. Re-summon him there as an Eternal Drillmaster. Let him use his Diamond-rank experience to train your warriors. He will be a hollow puppet, a whetstone to sharpen your army while the assassins hold the line here."
Damon nodded. That night, he performed the ritual. The ten assassins were woven into the mansion's shadows, while Damon stepped through a rift, dragging Ryker's soul into the Sanctuary to begin his eternal servitude.
To be continued....
