In the Great Hall, Anthony sat with the brand-new copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them spread open in front of him.

He flipped past the preface and scanned the lines until he found exactly what he was looking for:

"…Thanks to Lucien Grafton, who provided extremely detailed first-hand observation records on the habits of the magical creatures covered in this book. As a Hogwarts student, his keen insight and rigor fill me with confidence in the depth of knowledge possessed by the younger generation of wizards…"

Anthony stared at those lines and read them twice.

When he'd first spotted Lucien's name in the Acromantula entry, he'd assumed it was just some other wizard with the same name. But the preface specifically said "a Hogwarts student." This couldn't be anyone else.

It really was Lucien!

Anthony couldn't sit still. He leaned forward, buzzing with excitement, and turned to share the discovery with his roommate.

The seat beside him was empty.

He scratched his head. When he got too deep into a book, he tuned out the whole world. His friends were used to it by now. Usually someone would say "I'm heading out," but today they'd probably just left him alone since he was reading so intently.

Still, having no one to tell felt frustrating.

Anthony lifted his head and scanned the Great Hall for familiar faces. His eyes kept moving until—

"Hey, Harry! Come over here, I've got something good to show you!"

Harry, walking past the long table, heard the shout, changed direction, and dropped into the seat beside him.

They weren't super close, but they got along fine. Ravenclaw had the fewest students, so names stuck easily—Harry had learned most of them back in first year. They'd even complained together about Lockhart's teaching style, so there was some real rapport.

"Found another treasure book, Anthony?" Harry asked with a smile, glancing at the open pages.

"You guessed right. It really is a treasure." Anthony's voice practically vibrated with excitement.

He pushed the book toward Harry and tapped the name in the preface.

"Look right here—"

Once Harry leaned in, Anthony flipped straight to the Acromantula section and pointed to the tiny note at the bottom of the page. Then he looked up, waiting for the shocked reaction.

Harry just looked… unsurprised. He even shifted his gaze upward and started reading the actual entry.

Anthony blinked.

"Harry, you're not surprised at all?"

Harry glanced up, thinking for a second.

He really wasn't that surprised.

He'd known for a while that Lucien and Newt Scamander were close—really close. Harry himself owned a personally signed copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them that Lucien had given him as a reward for acing his exams. After two years in the wizarding world, Harry understood exactly how big Newt's name was. That signed edition was worth way more than any regular book.

No wonder Ron and Malfoy had lost their minds when he and Hermione got their copies—like they'd missed out on buried treasure.

Still… Lucien knowing this much about magical creatures too? Was there anything the guy didn't know?

Come to think of it, wasn't Care of Magical Creatures an elective next term? Maybe he should sign up.

"Harry? Harry?" Anthony's voice pulled him back.

"Oh—sorry." Harry blinked. "I was just thinking… this seems pretty normal for Lucien, doesn't it?"

Anthony opened his mouth, ready to say "What's normal about it?"

Was it normal for someone their age to get close enough to Acromantulas to study them? Or normal that the data was good enough for Newt Scamander himself to put in his book?

But the words died on his tongue.

He suddenly remembered everything else Lucien had already done—slaying the Basilisk with a sword, earning the Order of Merlin, First Class…

Yeah. Lucien was already kind of a celebrity, wasn't he?

Anthony had been so focused on the book that he'd completely forgotten his classmate had already pulled off plenty of things that counted as "normal" for him.
