Chapter 168 - Chapter 88 Part 2 Die Jäger

It is now all over the media. The mayor is dead, and the Dark Umbrella will definitely investigate it.

Sophie: "I can't believe it..."

Fiona: "Yeah... He's dead, and others have gone missing too... but his son was found."

Sophie: "Yeah... but... he doesn't remember anything anymore."

Fiona: "Mhm."

Meliodas: "We have to investigate. Ms. Valentine told me to tell you all. We're investigating the mayor's murder."

Lina: "Ohh."

By the way, Chloe, Sternlicht, Hosenträger, Cossette, and Melina are at the Dark Umbrella school since there is now one in Villicia, so they aren't here.

Violet: "Hmmm."

Lina: "This is... creepy."

Siegfried: "Yeah..."

(Patch!) (Patch!)

Siegfried: "Huh?!"

It was a woman watching in shock.

Sophie: "Is everything alright, ma'am?"

Unknown Woman: "Yes... it's just so horrible... this place was so peaceful thanks to the mayor... (Sniff)... how could anyone be so cruel?!"

Sophie: "Mmm."

Unknown Woman: "Oh... excuse me... you... are officers, right?"

Sophie: "Oh, that's correct. We belong to the Dark Umbrella."

Unknown Woman: "Ohh... very pleased to meet you... I'm Sandy Sinelta... very pleased to meet you... (...hmmm... so these are the Dark Umbrella people... Hehehehe... The Joker... I... will show you who The Joker is... Hmm?)..."

She noticed Fiona.

The Joker: "(What's wrong with her?...)"

(Pump!)

The Joker: "Hmmm... um... I'm a bank employee... if you need me... I was told I should take care of your accounts."

Sophie: "Ohhh... I see... Hehehe... very pleased to meet you, Sandy. Hehehe. I'm Sophie Valeria."

Lina: "Lina Adelheid, pleased to meet you."

Fiona: "Fiona Philomela Househould. But just call me Fiona."

Siegfried: "Siegfried Matteo Hugo."

Sophie: "Don't say your full names, you idiots."

Violet: "Violet Miranda."

The Joker: "Oh, Miranda? You're from here?"

Violet: "Nah, hehehe... more from the Basque Kingdom..."

The Joker: "Ohh... how interesting... hehehe..."

Meliodas: "Meliodas Diaz. I'm the mentor."

The Joker: "Ohh... very pleased to meet you... Hmmmm."

They brought out the mayor's corpse.

Civilian: "(Crying)... hahh... how horrible."

Civilian: "Who would do something like this?!"

Sophie: "People seem really affected by this."

Fiona: "Yeah."

The Joker: "The mayor was a very good man. He didn't deserve this... neither he nor the people who have to witness it..."

Sophie: "Mhm."

Fiona: "Hmmm..."

Lina: "Hmm."

The Joker: "Well then, I have to go now. If you need me, here's my number."

She handed it to Lina.

Lina: "Ugh... thank you very much."

The Joker: "Goodbye, see you again."

She walked away.

Sophie: "Hmmm... a nice lady."

Fiona: "Sophie... stop calling everyone nice just because they talk nicely."

Lina: "Hmm... her hands... when she touched me... strange..."

Fiona: "Hmm?... I'm not really sure... is it a good idea to rely on other people to guard our accounts?"

Siegfried: "Yeah, why actually?"

Sophie: "Don't be so suspicious."

Fiona: "In our profession, you have to be, Sophie... things like trust or blind trust have cost people a lot of lives. Either we die or someone else dies. Both should be avoided."

Sophie: "My goodness, she's just a bank manager."

Fiona: "I wasn't even talking about her. She seems nice enough. At least Bob didn't sense any bad intentions, otherwise she'd be dead."

(Meanwhile)

The Joker: "Ahhh... I see."

She took a bottle of water and poured it over her hair. Her hair changed from orange to yellow.

The Joker: "The boss was right... these Dark Umbrella people are interesting... hehehehe..."

She entered a room and turned on the light.

(Ding)

The Joker: "Ahh, my dears... how are you all... who knows, maybe there will be more of you!"

A large number of skulls... human skulls... or masks made from real human faces stood there.

The Joker: "How beautiful you are... hehehehe... I'd love to have some Dark Umbrella members here too... ohhh... that Sophie was so pretty, and that Siegfried as well... Lina... I have to be careful around her, she seems like a really good fighter... she mustn't see my eyes. One killer recognizes another killer through the eyes... hehehehe... And that Fiona is interesting too... while the others showed sympathy, she showed some sympathy too, but when she looked at me... she looked at me as if I was... in her way... or as if she was suspicious of me... She's a good watchdog... therefore..."

(Crash!)

The Joker: "I need to watch Lina and Fiona first... because they... are dangerous... Sophie is too kind... poor thing... Violet is... more... shy maybe?... Whatever, I need to keep watching them... but first..."

She picked up a picture of Siegfried and Sophie.

The Joker: "Hahhh... (Drooling)... I can't take it anymore..."

(Meanwhile)

Sophie: "Ghhhh... I somehow have a strange feeling."

Fiona: "Hm?"

Meliodas: "Good. We need to investigate now. We've been given permission. The authorization came from a woman named Camilie Carmen Jimenez, who oversees Villicia's security."

Sophie: "Oh... interesting..."

(Meanwhile)

(Knock, knock)

The Finger: "Hey... Joker..."

The door opened.

The Joker: "What is it?"

The Finger: "Hmm?... Isn't it a little early for sleepwear?"

He walked in.

The Finger: "...hahhh... were you again..."

The Joker: "That's none of your business... honestly... just because you've known me for a while doesn't mean you can talk to me like that."

The Finger: "Sorry..."

The Joker: "Alright. I want you to watch these two."

She placed a photo of Lina and Fiona down.

The Finger: "Hmm?"

The Joker: "Members of the Dark Umbrella. Be careful. Lina, the blonde one, seems to have real combat experience. And the one with the white hair and beautiful green eyes, Fiona Philomela Househould, is apparently very suspicious. Somehow she stared at me as if she'd noticed that I was... a bit strange... whatever. But don't kill them..."

The Finger: "Why?"

The Joker: "No reason to kill them yet, my dear. Just watch them..."

The Finger: "Okay... the others?"

The Joker: "Don't kill them either... and don't you dare touch Sophie or Siegfried. The two redheads."

The Finger: "Hmmm... hey, you like redheads. Why don't you like me then, hmm?"

The Joker: "Just shut up..."

The Finger: "Hmmm... what would happen if I killed Sophie?!"

(Splach!)

His arm exploded, and blood burst out.

The Finger: "You didn't have to get violent immediately."

The Joker: "...Don't touch her... She's my prey..."

She walked crookedly and stared at him with a creepy look.

The Joker: "I'll kill you otherwise... and kill everyone who knows you!!"

The Finger: "Alright already, my goodness!"

His hand regenerated.

The Finger: "Fine then. I'll get going."

The Joker: "Good. Hehe... (smiles)... thank you very much, my dear."

The Finger: "Hmph."

He left.

The Joker: "Hehehe..."

(Meanwhile)

Sophie and Fiona were investigating the location together with Siegfried.

Sophie: "This is horrible... nothing... there's nothing here. Not even corpses... or anything showing that people were murdered here. Where are the servants?!"

Siegfried: "Maybe they did it and ran away."

Fiona: "No... no... this was the work of professionals. Someone who's done this many times."

Sophie: "Yeah... and very skillfully."

Fiona: "And quietly... firearms are already ruled out... at least the loud ones."

Sophie: "Hmmm... but what about the bodies... did they take them away?"

Fiona: "Too conspicuous perhaps... more likely... they hid the bodies."

Siegfried: "Or they were captured."

Sophie: "Impossible. There should have been twenty servants. There's no way they could remove them all in such a short time."

Fiona: "No blood. No corpses. Only the mayor was shown. Why? They could've hidden his body too... unless..."

Sophie: "Hmm?"

Fiona: "Deliberate... whoever it was, they specifically wanted people to see how they killed the mayor."

Sophie: "You think there were multiple people?"

Fiona: "Not sure."

Sophie: "I actually think... they left the body here because he was the target. The others weren't... whether they killed them?"

Fiona: "I don't know... I've worked as a detective for years, but damn it..."

She smiled excitedly.

Sophie: "Ugh..."

Fiona: "Whoever it was... they're good. Very good. Hehehehehe... finally a case where we have to rack our brains... not a single thing was found that could lead us anywhere."

Sophie: "Ohh... Arcane powers?!... I'm sure of it."

Fiona: "Yeah, right... could be... but an Arcane power that makes bodies disappear?... that's strange..."

Sophie: "Hmmm... yes, still possible. That would explain why nobody is here."

Fiona: "Yeah. Good point, Sophie... Siegfried... how about taking your hands out of your pockets... and actually thinking?"

Sophie: "To me it looked like he wanted to do something with... his thing."

Siegfried: "Hey, that's bullying."

Fiona: "Hahhh... if that's bullying to you, then I'm sorry for you. What Sophie used to do in school... that was bullying."

Sophie: "No, Fiona, stop. That's embarrassing... mmm... I really was a mean girl."

Fiona: "But now you're all cute and cuddly."

She played with Sophie's cheeks.

Sophie: "Mmmm... stop it..."

Fiona: "Nope."

Sophie: "Mmmm..."

Siegfried: "Hey, someone was murdered here. How about some respect?"

Sophie: "He's right... Fiona."

Fiona: "Okay."

Sophie: "So... hmm..."

Fiona: "Found something?"

Sophie: "I... have a feeling something is strange... weren't there guards here?... how could the person leave so easily?"

Fiona: "No idea."

Siegfried: "Maybe it was a spy."

Sophie: "Ugh."

Fiona: "Ughh."

Both looked at him.

Sophie: "Huhhh... you can actually think!"

Fiona: "A miracle!!!"

Siegfried: "Ohh... if you two were guys, I would've punched you."

Fiona: "Go ahead. I believe in equality... or whatever that nonsense is called."

Sophie: "(Woow)... careful you don't get canceled."

Siegfried: "Hahh."

No matter how much they investigated, they found nothing... absolutely nothing. A truly baffling case.

Sophie: "Hahh."

Fiona: "I give up."

Sophie: "What? But... you can't."

Fiona: "We need help... we have no clues... no witnesses... nothing..."

Sophie: "Hmm."

Siegfried: "The situation is really hopeless..."

Sophie: "Hahhh... maybe we should ask someone..."

(Meanwhile)

Eliska: "When I was thirteen... I was abused... I became pregnant... and in my homeland... a woman who isn't a virgin at such a young age is considered a disgrace... so I was cast out... I hated the child... it was cold... A few days later... my child died... in my arms... my only light of happiness..."

(Ringing!)

Eliska: "Ughh."

She woke up.

Eliska: "Hahhh... yes?"

She opened the door.

The Joker: "Hello, Eliska."

Eliska: "Hello?... Good that you're here, Joker... tell me... why did you lie... why didn't you kill the child?.."

The Joker: "Hmm?"

Eliska: "Don't play dumb... I read it in the news... why didn't you kill him?.."

The Joker: "I ate his memory..."

Eliska: "Hmm?"

She pulled something out of her mouth... or rather vomited it up. It was a cassette.

The Joker: "Here... his memory. Want it?"

Eliska: "Gross."

The Joker: "Hehehe... no reason to kill him. Didn't want to be so mean to you... I know why you do that after all... must be hard... losing your child."

Eliska: "Hmmm..."

The Joker: "What was his name, anyway?"

Eliska: "Levente... I named him Levente... in my language it means 'to exist.'"

The Joker: "Ahhh... I see..."

Eliska: "Anything new? I heard those Dark Umbrella people were at the mayor's residence."

The Joker: "Yeah... The Finger is watching them right now... so am I."

Eliska: "Are they a threat?"

The Joker: "Well... not quite yet. Still, we have to be prepared to wipe them out if necessary... hoo... first time I've seen you in pajamas... you look... attractive. My goodness."

Eliska: "Stop staring at my body... do you like muscular women or something?"

The Joker: "There aren't that many muscles."

Eliska: "Want something to drink?"

The Joker: "Oh gladly. What do you have?"

Eliska: "Lemonade, cherry juice, and beer, if you want."

The Joker: "Lemonade, please."

Eliska: "Okay."

She handed her a cup.

Eliska: "Here."

The Joker: "Thanks."

She drank it.

The Joker: "Mmm... delicious."

Eliska: "Hmmph."

She smoked.

The Joker: "Since when do you smoke, anyway?"

Eliska: "None of your business..."

The Joker: "Hahh... why don't you like me... mmm..."

Eliska: "Hmm... fourteen."

The Joker: "Hmm?"

Eliska: "...Fourteen... after my child died..."

The Joker: "Ohhh... I understand..."

She continued smoking.

The Joker: "Is it true that you once met the Dark Bride... the sister of Death?"

Eliska: "Yeah... she gave me this power... curse, I mean... (smokes)... hahhhh..."

The Joker: "I see... By the way, the boss told me the Glove is on his way."

Eliska: "What?... Why? I thought we were doing this with four people?"

The Joker: "No idea, but... an order is an order. That's how it is. Well... I don't like the Glove either... but he's strong, no question."

Eliska: "Hmm... well, as long as you're here... the mission will be a bit easier for me."

The Joker: "Oh, oh... what am I hearing... Eliska... do you like me now?"

Eliska: "More than Undertaker and the Glove... those two are a little... too quick. At least you're smart... and besides, around you... they don't dare pull anything. Around you and The Finger."

The Joker: "I think that's why the boss sent me and The Finger... because he knew we'd keep those two idiots under control. My goodness..."

Eliska: "(The Finger is actually very smart and strong... He doesn't necessarily think brutally... he's more strategic, similar to Joker, except he's calmer... or rather more serious...)"

(Meanwhile)

The Finger: "Hmmm... there they are."

He looked through binoculars.

The Finger: "So that's Sophie and Siegfried... I see. And over there is Fiona... hmm..."

He stopped listening.

The Finger: "I understand..."

He pulled out his hat.

The Finger: "Hmmm... I need clothes."

He pulled clothing out of it.

The Finger: "Let's see... let's see... hmm... yes, exactly. A dress. A Victorian-style Villicia model dress... let's see how good you Dark Umbrella people really are."
