The room went quiet again, this time waiting for Command.
Alteea took her glasses off, folded them, and held them idly.
"Ma'am?" the duty officer said. "Should I log the radar array as faulty, or—"
"No."
"It gave us a ten. The field report says seven. That's a—"
"That array has been correct for a long time and it will be correct tomorrow as well." Alteea was still looking at the wall of screens, then she put the glasses back in her hair. "It can't be malfunctioning."
Nobody did anything, except for Kori, who was fidgeting all this time and had just stopped.
"Log it as unexplained," Alteea said. "Not faulty. Unexplained. And I want the raw trace, dear, not the summary."
Kori watched her tilt her head back, and understood that Alteea was not thinking about the Nyx at all.
