Raizen read his own row four times. The test result board covered most of the north-western wall in the Hall of Petals, under a long shelf. It was a slab of dark lacquered wood twice the height of a man. For most of the year it held nothing more exciting than a few posters and the cafeteria rota. This time it was entirely dedicated to the Royal Scholars. The third-years sat at the top on paper gone yellow at the corners — Oren, Keita, Iris and Ryuu, their marks from an older test still pinned where somebody had left them. Below ran the second-years in two sheets of four, with Kori's name printed in the header of both.
Raizen's row was the newest thing on the board. The ink still had a shine to it.
