The final battle of the ancient tomb took place in the flooded hall, on the high platform and under the water, where waves of skeletons, Nord Draugr, and restless Draugr assailed him. The weaker ones could be pushed aside with a single shove, while the stronger ones used Frost magic, wore Ebony armor, and some even used Dragon Shouts. When they gathered, unleashing incomplete Fus Ro Dahs one after another, the fierce gusts of air transformed this quiet, dead tomb into a deep-sea vortex.
"Ro Dah!"
"Ro Dah!"
No one could hope to stand firm in this place; the air currents were like blades, capable of tearing armor and flaying flesh. If these Draugr hadn't lacked the power of Fus, Simon, currently unarmored, would surely have been pulverized. Not even a golden statue could withstand so many Dragon Shouts!
Amidst the deafening ghostly wails, Simon felt dizzy and his entire body ached as if cut by knives and pricked by needles. He grinned amidst the tide of roars, shouting, "Divine Armor, Divine Weapon, Divine Power!"
His self-created Thu'um—Deity's Descent!
The Troll's already large body suddenly expanded, his clothes, shredded by the gusts, burst apart as magical energy surged, transforming into a set of pure white, heavy armor and a two-handed great axe. Simon gripped the illusory, intensely glowing great axe, standing unyielding in the fierce wind.
The Draugr, arrayed in a semicircle, seemed to sense the living being's surging power and immediately began to roar frantically. The entire ancient tomb trembled. In the town of Ivarstead above, everyone was so terrified by the horrifying ghostly wails and tremors that they fled their houses. The innkeeper shouted in the street, "The Draugr from the ancient tomb are out! Someone went into the ancient tomb, and now the Draugr are coming out to kill people! Run!"
The Guards quickly maintained order. The Nord Men returned home to retrieve their weapons, spontaneously beginning patrols in the streets. Some, taking children and elders, fled first, while the rest planned to stay and fight to the death against any Draugr that might appear.
Amidst the ghostly wails, a thunderous roar was exceptionally clear, faintly carrying the words "Divine Armor, Divine Weapon, Divine Power," causing the uninformed crowd to exchange bewildered glances.
Simon stepped on the ground, walking step by step towards the Draugr's encirclement. He would be blown away if he wasn't careful. He walked slowly, yet steadily.
His stamina quickly recovered under such immense pressure; he would be able to unleash a second Shout soon.
Approaching the Draugr, he swung his great axe, clearing a swath with a single sweep. The Ebony armor protected these Draugr from being cut, but it couldn't completely negate the terrifying impact. The Draugr's withered bodies were pulverized.
Continuing, Simon turned and roared at the Draugr on his right, "Fus Ro Dah!"
Boom—!!!
In the earth-shattering sound wave, a crack appeared in the hall's dome, and the waters of Lake Kyne rushed in with a roar, forming several Waterfalls. All the Draugr that were even slightly touched by the air current were sent flying. Those directly hit by the Dragon Shout gradually turned to dust in mid-air, their armor twisting and deforming.
All the lesser enemies were cleared. The lid of the highest coffin was pushed open by a pair of withered, skeletal arms.
A Draugr Overlord, clad in patterned Ebony armor, slowly sat up, turned his head to examine Simon, his facial skin tightening into a terrifying grin. He spoke in a hoarse Dragon tongue, "Outsider, you disturb my slumber. You shall suffer eternal torment!"
Simon, without a word, charged forward with an axe strike.
The Draugr Overlord raised the Ebony greatsword in his hand, gripping the hilt with one hand and supporting the blade with the other. Axe blade met sword blade. The Draugr Overlord remained unmoving, yet the black iron coffin beneath him twisted with a clang.
Ghostly flames glowed faintly in the Overlord's eyes. "Zun—Haal Viiq!" Dragon Shout: Disarm!
A wave of air swept forth, and the divine weapon great axe in Simon's hand shattered into raw magical energy. He didn't panic, reaching out to grasp the Draugr's greatsword, twisting it with all his might, breaking its wrist bone, and reversing the blade to slash at the Draugr Overlord's neck.
The Ebony weapon's surface had beautiful natural patterns, which now shimmered faintly, revealing it to be an enchantment. The Draugr Overlord grinned maliciously, leaning back to dodge the blade, then pulled the greatsword back, its sharp edge cutting the Troll's palm. Immediately, a surge of magical energy flowed out, attempting to pull Simon into a state of paralysis.
Seeing the Draugr smile so gleefully, Simon also revealed a playful smile beneath his divine armor helmet: enchanted tattoo—spell resistance.
The enchantment on the Ebony sword failed to paralyze Simon. The Draugr Overlord was startled. Immediately, Simon, still gripping the sword with one hand, locked his other hand onto the Draugr's shoulder.
The Troll opened his mouth and softly uttered a few Nord words. With each word, the temperature in the hall increased by a degree.
"Sun, Soul-Scorch, Blaze!"
His self-created Thu'um—Breath of the Blazing Cloud.
Roar!!!
The next second, a golden stream of particles engulfed the Draugr Overlord's head. Intense Fire Elemental and life-magic energy would cause terrifyingly distorted burn injuries. For the living, the affected areas would rapidly melt and regenerate chaotically, eventually leading to a painful death from grotesque deformities even if they survived the flames. For the undead, it was even more horrifying; this was a technique that could incinerate corpses and all forms of undead.
The Draugr Overlord's Ebony helmet gradually melted, revealing a silently screaming face. Despite struggling desperately, he couldn't escape Simon's iron-grip hands. Ultimately, his flesh dissolved, and his soul burned away.
Simon's breath attack only lasted four seconds. The formerly arrogant Draugr Overlord was reduced to nothing but molten metal and ashes.
"Hoo, hoo…" The feeling of violently fluctuating stamina was unpleasant. Simon sat on the ground to rest for a while.
Now, he was fully capable of breathing fire against a Dragon; how could he be stumped by a mere Draugr?
Finally, it was cleaned up.
At the end of the great hall were a drawbridge and a mechanical door. After breaking through the stone door, he arrived in a new hall, where on a high platform stood a majestic, inwardly curved Dragon Language wall.
Simon knew that Dragonborn could learn new Dragon Language from the wall. Since he wasn't Dragonborn, he could only read the content.
"Here lies the body of Heler,
"Companion to all beasts.
"Servant of Kyne wishes her eternal rest.
"Rest in the Dreamwood."
Simon thought for a moment, then carved words into the ground in front of the Dragon Language wall.
"Gaelina, Son of the Stern, Rider of Troll Souls, Foodie of Winterhold, Master of Dragon Shouts, defeated all the restless corpses here, granting peace to the dead and tranquility to the living."
…
The people of Ivarstead spent a restless night. The Forelhost ancient tomb quieted down, and a few weeks later, people noticed that the water level of Lake Kyne had dropped slightly.
In the tavern at dawn, the innkeeper and his wife saw the Troll. He was still wearing comfortable and well-fitting linen clothes, draped in a thick bearskin cloak. When people asked him what he had done in the ancient tomb, the Troll merely smiled and did not answer.
The residents never saw Draugr wandering at night again.
…
Gaelina's hut.
It was dilapidated. The thatch on the roof had long disappeared, revealing desolate, decaying timbers. The key turned in the lock, but it was completely rusted and wouldn't open.
Simon climbed over the wall into the house.
Indeed, there was nothing inside.
Only mud and weeds on the floor.
After searching for a long time, in the fireplace, he found a small, dirty cloth doll with a word embroidered on it—Friend.
