Chapter 55 - Chapter 55

At around 6pm, the sun was setting with its golden hues, leaving the landscape in a fiery orange. Kudo stood on top of the water, feeling weak and trembling in his legs. Making rapid hand seals, "Water style: Water wall," a towering wall of water over his height rose from the lake, completely obscuring his view from the lakeshore. The wall of water was uniform in flow, the water cascading up and holding briefly for 5 seconds before collapsing, slamming into Kudo as the lake settled into calm. Kudo floated up, staring at the sky, his breath labored as he tried to calm himself. He had done it; he was not able to use the jutsu within 5 seconds and make the wall hold for 5 seconds, as for its durability, he didn't have a clue, but he would test it against his explosive water bullet jutsu. He now had a genuine rank C jutsu in his arsenal.

"Hey! What are you doing over there?" Faint shouting reached him as the voice became clearer and he recognized it, swimming towards the shore, Naruto fell into view, his orange jumpsuit clad like armor.

"It's been a long time, huh?" Naruto said, rubbing his elbow, "Nice to see you too, Naruto." Kudo said, drying himself off, "So, how have you been?" "Hey, don't do that. Don't talk like you are some adults, hmph." Naruto said his face flushed red, "What were you doing in the water anyway, floating like that? Is that some new technique? Can you teach me?" Naruto squeezed into his face. Pushing him away, "It's not, I was just tired after practicing a new jutsu. Plus, can you even do water walking, Naruto?" Kudo asked about his lack of faith nakedly.

"I can tree-walk okay, but somehow that guy Sasuke also knows how to do it. Damn, I was looking forward to subbing it in his face. Now, I can't look awesome in front of Sakura." Naruto vented the injustice, something which came off as normal to Kudo. "Of course, he knows how to do it; he comes from the Uchiha clan, and they obviously taught him. I'm just surprised it took both of you this long." Kudo was indeed inwardly surprised that Sasuke didn't know tree-walking in the academy. Iruka had mentioned the 3 basic chakra control exercises, but never went through tree-walking and water-walking. It seemed they were harder for ordinary shinobi.

Kudo had figured them out himself once he got bored with the leaf exercise, and his mentors came in handy. Letting go of those thoughts, "Naruto, if you had a clan, they would also teach you these things. Unfortunately for you and me, we don't, so we gotta work harder to catch up." Kudo scolded him.

"Yeah, you always say that, but it's not fair. I didn't choose to like this, okay. I don't know my parents, and everyone around me doesn't want to talk to me or know me, only you and a few others. I am alone." Naruto said, kicking some leaves.

Kudo remained silent for a bit, "Naruto, in this village, everyone knows something. If everyone claims to know nothing, then something or someone is hiding the truth. I don't believe anyone knew your parents, even if they were civilians; there would still be records about your birth, but that time we snuck into the village hospital, we didn't find anything. You have a Konoha birthright from your orphan files and academy files, so clearly something happened where your parents were erased, and those who know the truth are keeping quiet. When you become the Hokage, Naruto, no one will hide anything from you. So become stronger to find out the truth about yourself, about that." Kudo said, pointing at his abdomen.

Kudo had trained with Naruto, and after learning how to be a sensor, he was aware of the unique nature of Naruto's chakra. First, it was immense and gave off a vile and dangerous aura when Naruto got angry. So, Kudo had done some digging up, even if that meant intentionally spying on people to know the truth. The best he knew was that Naruto was a Jinchuriki; he didn't know the finer details, but didn't investigate further since sometimes he felt watched. He didn't tell Naruto, but he could feel that something massive was being kept from Naruto, so both of them had to get stronger. Kudos for his revenge and Naruto for his truth.

A few hours later,

The Uchiha compound;

"Arghhh!" Fugaku woke up with a roar, his temple drenched in sweat. Next to him, Mikoto Uchiha, his wife, also woke up. "Fuhaku, what is it? Did you have another vision?" Mikoto gently rubbed her eyes. Over their decades of marriage, she had come to greatly understand Fugaku, and she had become someone he found solace in. Often seeking her advice on how to lead the clan toward a better path. For a long time, Fugaku had agonized over the annihilation of his clan, but ever since he took action to lead the clan, the massacre had faded from his mind, only to be replaced by another disaster.

"It would seem that Konoha does not know peace." Fugaku muttered thereafter, sighing, " I saw in a different vision Konoha under attack from enemies within the village. A grand ceremony of sorts, there were Sunagakure and Otogakure shinobi attacking the leaf and…" Mikoto listened in trepidation as the thought of an attack on the village reminded her of that night, "Orochimaru was leading the assault." Fugaku spoke, his voice laced with anger.

"That Orochimaru? One of the Sannin?!" Mikoto gasped, shocked, "Yeah, him." Fugaku nodded. It had been some time since he had gotten a vision, and since using his Mangekyo Sharingan in the Uchiha assault, he had thought that with his visual power's depletion, the ability of his eye to glimpse the future had vanished, but it would seem fate had yet to abandon the Uchiha.
