Chapter 69 - DTC : Chapter 69

The Ones Who Advance

The arena did not wait.

Once the first duel ended, the others accelerated.

The pillar pulsed again.

Not observing anymore.

Evaluating.

Zone 5 — Nathan Stands Alone

Nathan stepped out of his partition as the wall dissolved behind him.

Uren did not rise.

The Halo Watch confirmed it.

CANDIDATE ELIMINATED

No ceremony.

No hesitation.

Nathan didn't look back.

He simply turned toward the pillar.

And waited.

Zone 3 — Raghu vs Ravi

The tension snapped.

Ravi pulled his arm free, stepping back.

"You won't finish it," he said.

Raghu didn't answer.

"You won't," Ravi repeated.

"Because you think there's another way."

The pillar pulsed faintly.

Raghu stepped forward.

"There is."

Ravi laughed.

"Not here."

His breathing steadied.

Not calm.

Resolved.

"I don't want to disappear like the others."

A pause.

"So I'll choose how I go."

Raghu's eyes sharpened slightly.

"Don't."

Ravi moved.

Not reckless this time.

Focused.

Every strike aimed to force Raghu into escalation.

Into decision.

Raghu deflected.

Redirected.

Contained.

But he didn't attack.

The arena noticed.

The pillar dimmed slightly.

DOMINION CONTEST — STAGNATION DETECTED

The ground beneath them trembled.

Pressure built.

Ravi saw it.

"This is what happens," he said.

"You don't decide—so it decides for you."

He stepped back.

Looked directly at Raghu.

Then—

He lowered his guard.

Completely.

Raghu froze.

Ravi smiled faintly.

"Win properly."

The pillar surged.

Golden light engulfed the zone.

When it faded—

Ravi was gone.

ZONE 3 RESOLVED

WINNER: RAGHU

Silence followed.

Not victory.

Not relief.

Just weight.

Zone 1 — Vedant vs Den Olo

The ground was shattered.

Burned.

Cracked.

Vedant's flames roared brighter than before, wrapping around his body in controlled fury.

Den Olo stood in the center of it.

Bruised.

Bloodied.

Unmoved.

"You're slowing," Vedant said.

"You're rushing," Den replied.

Vedant smiled.

"Good."

He launched forward.

Not straight.

Spiraling.

Flames compressed into a rotating strike that bent around Den's guard.

Den adjusted—

Too late.

The impact hit his side.

For the first time—

He staggered.

Vedant didn't stop.

A second strike.

Then a third.

Relentless.

Den planted his foot.

Took the fourth hit head-on.

And grabbed Vedant's arm mid-strike.

Everything stopped.

For one moment.

Then—

Den slammed him into the ground.

The shockwave cracked the entire zone.

Vedant coughed.

Then laughed.

"Finally."

Fire surged.

Point-blank.

Den took it.

Held it.

Then—

Let go.

Stepped back.

Just one step.

And that was enough.

The pillar pulsed.

ZONE 1 RESOLVED

WINNER: VEDANT KAEL

Den Olo exhaled slowly.

Then vanished.

No resistance.

No regret.

Zone 2 — Ayush vs Gudi

The battlefield had become unrecognizable.

Floating spheres.

Distorted space.

Broken angles.

Ayush stood at the center of it.

Still.

Watching.

Gudi moved constantly.

Unpredictable.

Untraceable.

"You still haven't figured it out," she said lightly.

"I have," Ayush replied.

"You don't attack."

"You create conditions."

Gudi smiled.

"And?"

Ayush raised his hand.

The Erosion Beam flickered—

Not toward her.

Toward the environment.

One by one—

The spheres destabilized.

Not destroyed.

Disrupted.

The structure collapsed.

Gudi's movement slowed.

Just slightly.

"That's cheating," she said.

"No," Ayush replied.

"It's solving."

He moved.

For the first time—

Directly.

Gudi reacted.

Too late.

The beam grazed her shoulder.

Not fatal.

But enough.

The system responded instantly.

ZONE 2 RESOLVED

WINNER: AYUSH DHAL

Gudi blinked once.

Then smiled.

"Yeah," she said softly.

"That makes sense."

She vanished.

Zone 4 — Karsh vs Isha

The fastest duel ended last.

Because neither made mistakes.

Until one did.

Isha moved first.

Perfect.

Karsh adapted.

Faster.

She adjusted.

He evolved.

The gap narrowed.

Then—

She hesitated.

Half a second.

Not from fear.

From calculation.

Karsh didn't.

That was the difference.

He stepped through her defense.

One strike.

Clean.

Precise.

ZONE 4 RESOLVED

WINNER: KARSH YEN

Isha disappeared without a word.

The walls collapsed. The arena reformed as Five remained.

Ayush

Vedant

Raghu

Karsh

Nathan

The pillar at the center pulsed brighter now.

Not dormant.

Not waiting.

Ready.

The Halo Watches updated.

ASCENSION TRIAL — LAYER 1 COMPLETE

FINALISTS: 5

No one spoke.

Because they all understood—

The trial hadn't ended.

It had narrowed.

Raghu

Raghu stood still.

The sword pulsed faintly.

Ravi's absence lingered.

Not loud.

But present.

The pillar responded again.

Stronger now.

Not rejecting.

Not measuring.

Considering.

The external signal surged.

Closer.

Aligned.

Watching.

At the center of the arena—

the pillar cracked.

And something inside it—

began to awaken.
