With Fang Yuan around, they moved quickly, changing locations for the third time in one night.
Isabel led Fang Yuan to the entrance of an apartment building. With a gentle wave of Fang Yuan's hand, the building's main door opened.
Although Kamar-Taj didn't have 'Alohomora,' opening an ordinary door lock was still a breeze.
Isabel walked ahead with familiarity. Although she had never been to her sister's apartment, her psychic intuition guided her as if she had a built-in GPS.
"Buzz, buzz, buzz!" She rang the doorbell.
The door was quickly opened; it was clear that even at this late hour, Angela was not in a deep sleep.
"Isabel!"
Angela, who looked exactly like Isabel, suddenly pulled her into a tight hug.
"I just had a nightmare. I dreamed that you actually jumped off the roof of the hospital," Angela said, panting, as if a great weight had been lifted from her heart. "You scared me to Death."
"Wait... how are you here?"
Angela's expression suddenly changed. She looked Isabel and Fang Yuan over and asked cautiously, "That was just a dream, right?"
"You know it wasn't, sister," Isabel shook her head. "Fang saved me. I am following God's will and staying by his side."
Angela's face darkened. She quickly pulled Isabel behind her and looked at Fang Yuan warily. "What are you trying to do to my sister?"
Angela was a Police officer. Seeing Fang Yuan leading her sister, who had been isolated from society for so long, her first reaction was that he had ulterior motives.
Isabel quickly told Angela about her premonition: Mammon, the son of Satan, was attempting to descend to the human realm to rule the World.
"Mammon? A demon descending?" Angela shook her head in disbelief. "None of this is real!"
Although Angela, like Isabel, possessed psychic abilities.
Unlike Isabel, who had manifested her abilities—leading their parents to commit her to a mental hospital—Angela had suppressed hers. Over time, she truly stopped sensing anything unusual.
Or rather, she thought she couldn't sense them.
So, the current Angela was actually a materialist, until... she saw the flame in Fang Yuan's hand.
"Everything your sister said is true," Fang Yuan confirmed Isabel's claim, staring intently into Angela's eyes. "And can you really not sense anything?"
"I heard you're a star officer at the NYPD. You always know where criminals are hiding, and in a fight, you always know exactly where to aim. Once or twice is an accident, but... always?" Fang Yuan asked with a smile.
Angela's expression shifted. She quickly looked back and found Isabel watching her with a complex expression—partly reproachful, partly sad.
"I'm sorry, Isabel. I was just... so afraid before." Angela suddenly realized that what she had seen in the past were not hallucinations.
Isabel shook her head. She had never actually blamed her sister; otherwise, she wouldn't have intended to use her own life to warn her.
Angela took a deep breath. She didn't know Fang Yuan, but she trusted her sister, and so she extended that trust to him.
"What should we do? Go to the church, or...?" Angela asked.
If the enemy were Terrorists or something similar, she could provide a lot of help. But demons?
If she ran to the Police station and told her colleagues a demon was coming to rule the World, she'd probably be the one committed to a mental hospital.
"Professional matters require professional people," Fang Yuan replied. "At least in this regard, the church isn't the professional one."
"Huh?" Angela was confused. "Then what is the church professional at?"
"Real estate... ahem."
Fang Yuan almost blurted out the blunt truth but quickly caught himself. After all, he had just finished a behind-the-scenes deal with God.
He laid out part of the plan: "We're going to find Constantine. He's a local Exorcist. Although his power is just so-so, he's a professional when it comes to understanding demons."
The Keanu version of Constantine didn't have strong spellcasting abilities.
This was Fang Yuan's diplomatic way of putting it, considering the abilities of the comic book version of 'John Con-job' and the fact that they were currently in the DC Universe.
In reality, Constantine in the movie had no magical power at all.
However, even without spellcasting, it didn't stop Constantine from thriving in the field of exorcism.
Isabel and Angela naturally deferred to him.
"But before that, let's get a good night's rest," Fang Yuan suggested.
Fang Yuan was a visitor from another World, and Isabel had been living in a mental hospital, so they naturally had to squeeze into Angela's apartment.
Separately, of course.
However, after hearing Isabel say that God had entrusted them to Fang Yuan, the way Angela looked at him became a bit strange.
But at any rate, the night passed peacefully.
There was no combat tonight, no heavy bombardment.
But in another corner of the city, another key figure suffered a fatal attack.
"Pfft!"
Constantine suddenly spat out a large mouthful of blood, feeling a sudden, intense discomfort in his body.
He quickly lit a cigarette and took a deep drag to steady himself.
One cigarette down.
Not enough.
Another one.
"I'll have to visit the hospital tomorrow," Constantine muttered.
That's right, even Exorcists have to go to the hospital.
But that's normal; after all, even the Sorcerer Supreme died in a hospital. (Laughs).
The next day, Constantine found out what had attacked him.
"Lung cancer?" Constantine lit a cigarette. "Terminal stage?"
"How could I get this damn disease? Who's cursing me?"
"Because since you were fifteen, you've been smoking thirty cigarettes a day."
Inside the church, Gabriel responded to his question.
As for why Constantine wasn't staying in the hospital but had run to a church?
Because he knew his illness was incurable; even in a hospital, he could only delay the inevitable by a few days. So, Constantine needed to prepare for his end.
He wasn't afraid of Death, but he was afraid of what came after.
Because Constantine's soul was so interesting, the hellish big shot Satan had long since set his sights on it. As soon as Constantine died, Lucifer would take his soul.
Constantine knew that Satan certainly wasn't inviting him over for tea.
Hell was terrifying enough, let alone being personally toyed with by the Lord of Hell.
That was why he worked so hard traveling the World exorcising demons—it was all so he could go to Heaven after he died.
Unfortunately, although the current older Constantine was much better than the 'John Con-job' in the comics, he had done plenty of ridiculous things in his youth.
Go to Heaven?
Even if everyone in the World died and God blew up the Earth, He probably still wouldn't let him in.
Gabriel said the same, which infuriated Constantine into calling her a bastard.
This was a problem. For others, Death was the end, but Constantine was worrying about his life after Death.
He quickly lit another cigarette for himself.
He was going to die anyway; one or two more wouldn't make a difference...
