The next day, when Rachel woke up, she froze as she rubbed her stomach. It felt… bigger.
"What the hell?!" she blurted out, sitting up in bed.
Garion, lying beside her, startled awake and pushed himself up on his elbows. "Rachel, what happened?"
Rachel turned to him, her eyes wide and close to tears. She pointed at her stomach with a trembling hand.
"How can it grow this fast? Why is it so much bigger than yesterday?"
Garion stared at her for a moment.
He already knew the truth; the process had been shortened to just a week, but he couldn't tell her thanks to the system.
So instead, he forced a light tone. "Well, it seems my genes are just that strong. They must've sped everything up."
Rachel's expression hardened. She immediately started hitting his chest like a punching bag. "Don't say it like that, you idiot!"
Garion raised his arms to block her blows, chuckling despite himself. "Hey, I'm serious. I don't know what else it could be. What do you think, then?"
