General Martin Renolds stood atop the fortifications of the forward base that had been erected partway towards the city walls, attacks rained down around him, yet none seemed to land directly on him, they instead seemed to almost flow around him. As if he was standing in a river of danger acting as the rock that the waters must move around.
His cold eyes observed the battlefield, taking note of the various acts that the army was undertaking.
From the advancement of the siege towers and their progress upon the walls, to the organised charge towards the fresh breech in the walls.
His face remained stoic and uncompromising as he watched his men die by the hundreds, the ground before the wall being tainted red with blood and gore.
When his gaze moved up towards the battle taking place on the sky however, the faintest flicker of emotion could be seen as he stared at the two dragons battling for Syan.
