Chapter 167 - "The Strongest Shinigami, Genryūsai Yamamoto"

___________________________________________________________________________

"Kurosaki Ichigo, get out of here!" barked Captain-Commander Yamamoto, his voice like thunder over the battlefield."You're not part of the Gotei 13—I can't let you get caught up in this!"

Ichigo's face was full of worry. "Old man—!"

"Fall back! Now!" Yamamoto roared.

Aizen smiled faintly, calm as ever. "So you'd rather abandon others to die? How noble. Keep this up, and everyone here will burn together in your hellfire."

Around them, the captains of the Gotei 13 lay wounded, sprawled across the scorched earth, watching helplessly as the clash of titans continued in the sky.

Yamamoto's expression hardened. "They've already made their peace with death," he said grimly."Even if it costs their lives, they'll fight to destroy evil. That's the spirit of the Gotei 13!"

"Watch out—behind you, old man!" Ichigo suddenly yelled.

Before Yamamoto could react, a massive figure appeared at his back—Wonderweiss Margela. Yamamoto swung Ryūjin Jakka in a blazing arc, but Wonderweiss caught the burning blade with his bare hand.

There was a deafening boom as Wonderweiss struck. Yamamoto was sent flying, smashing into the ground. The impact threw up clouds of smoke and dust that swallowed the entire battlefield.

When Yamamoto rose, his face twisted in disbelief. "Why…? Why has the flame of Ryūjin Jakka gone out?!"

Aizen descended slowly through the haze, his smile never fading. "I'll tell you why," he said softly."Without a doubt, Ryūjin Jakka is the strongest Zanpakutō. In a fair fight, your power would surpass mine."

He paused, eyes gleaming."But if one sacrifices everything—every other ability—for the sake of one single purpose… that power can rival even yours."

He gestured toward the creature behind him."His name is Wonderweiss. The only modified Arrancar. His Resurrección is called Extinguir, the 'Prince of Extinction.' His sole purpose… is to seal your flames."

As Aizen spoke, the sky's towering pillars of fire flickered and vanished, swallowed by darkness. Wonderweiss hovered silently behind his master.

"For this ability," Aizen continued, "he gave up language, memory, reason—everything."

Yamamoto glared at him. "Gave up? No… you took it from him."

Aizen smirked. "Everything stems from the will of the Hōgyoku. Against the power Wonderweiss gained in exchange for everything, even you are helpless."

He raised a hand lightly. "Farewell, Genryūsai Yamamoto. Go, Wonderweiss."

The creature lunged forward, roaring silently. Yamamoto didn't flinch—he clenched his fist and met him head-on, smashing Wonderweiss backward through the air.

"You think sealing Ryūjin Jakka means you can beat me?" Yamamoto's voice rumbled like an oncoming storm. "How naïve. Pathetically naïve!"

He stepped forward, his reiatsu erupting in waves that cracked the ground beneath him."You ever wonder why I've been Captain-Commander for a thousand years? Because in all that time, not a single Shinigami has ever surpassed me!"

In an instant, Yamamoto flashed in front of Aizen and drove his fist forward with explosive force. But before it connected, Wonderweiss appeared out of nowhere, taking the hit full-on. The impact shook the earth, throwing up another wall of dust and fire.

When the smoke cleared, Wonderweiss's body was covered in horrific burns and wounds—but he didn't even flinch. His expression was blank, empty.Yamamoto stood several meters away, his arm bleeding freely. "Didn't plan on holding back," he muttered. "Your life force is tougher than I thought."

He cracked his neck, eyes burning. "If brute strength won't kill you, let's see how much pain you can take."

With a grunt, he tore off his upper robes, muscles tense with power. "Oh, right—you can't even talk anymore, can you?"

Wonderweiss charged, vanishing from sight for an instant before reappearing in front of him with a heavy punch. Yamamoto leapt back, flames sparking under his feet."No warm-up, huh? Guess that's what happens when you strip away humanity."

He countered with a punch of his own that slammed into the ground, detonating a burst of scorching heat that set the battlefield ablaze again.Wonderweiss shot upward into the air, but Yamamoto was already there, faster than sight. "You're quick," he said coldly, "but still just a child."

His fist crashed down on Wonderweiss like a meteor. Boom! The Arrancar plummeted, smashing into the ground hard enough to shake the Seireitei.

Before the dust settled, Wonderweiss rocketed upward again, a storm of fists flying at blinding speed. The sky filled with phantom punches. Yamamoto raised his arms, blocking blow after blow, sparks flashing with every impact.

"Strong life force, strong attack power…" he grunted between strikes. "But no mind, no strategy. Too damn straightforward!"

He disappeared in a flash, reappearing behind Wonderweiss and charging forward.Wonderweiss reacted instantly—his arms stretched unnaturally long, whipping backward toward Yamamoto.

Yamamoto grabbed one mid-swing and ripped it apart with sheer force. But the monster didn't even react. From his back, countless new arms sprouted, raining punches from every direction.

The air trembled under the storm of strikes. Yamamoto took blow after blow, his body shaking under the relentless assault.

Then the barrage slowed. Wonderweiss pulled back one arm, gathering all his strength into a single, devastating punch.

Boom!

The entire battlefield vanished in a storm of smoke, flame, and shockwaves.

The battlefield was swallowed by smoke and dust.

As the haze slowly cleared, Captain-Commander Yamamoto's towering figure appeared through the haze."Had enough yet?" he said coldly.

In a blur, Yamamoto moved—so fast it was almost impossible to see—and in the next instant, Wonderweiss's arms were both snapped like twigs.

"Good thing you're not a child," Yamamoto muttered. "Now I don't have to hold back."

A wave of crushing spiritual pressure burst from him, spreading outward like a storm about to swallow the world. The air itself trembled.

The sheer force of it made Wonderweiss's eyes widen in horror.

Before he could even react, Yamamoto appeared right in front of him, his fists already flying.

"Double Bone!"

Both fists slammed into Wonderweiss's abdomen with bone-shattering power.

With a furious roar, Yamamoto unleashed his full strength—Wonderweiss's body cracked apart, his face twisting in agony as fractures spread across it.

A heartbeat later, his body completely shattered in midair, breaking into countless fragments that rained down from the sky.

On Screen

Yamamoto stared at the shattered remains of his opponent."How pitiful… all your emotions stripped away.""So cruel…"

Aizen's calm voice echoed from above."Cruel? To hollows, cruelty means nothing. They exist only to devour souls.""I gave them purpose—how is that cruelty?""The one who just shattered a soul into pieces, that's the cruel one."

In a blink, Yamamoto was standing right in front of Aizen, his burning eyes locked on him.

Aizen smiled faintly. "I told you—Wonderweiss was created to seal your flames. Care to guess where all that fire was sealed?"

Before Yamamoto could respond, the shattered fragments of Wonderweiss suddenly began to swell and glow.

Sensing the danger, Yamamoto spun around and lunged toward the fragments, which were now blazing with fire.

BOOM!

A blinding explosion lit up the battlefield, a raging inferno consuming everything in its path.

The flames howled, devouring the ground and air alike, before slowly dying down into thick, rolling smoke.

When it finally cleared, Yamamoto was half-kneeling on the ground, panting heavily, his robes scorched and torn.

Aizen looked down at him, almost in admiration."To contain that much explosive fire and keep the damage to a minimum… impressive.""As expected of the Captain-Commander of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads."
