Patry, the follower of Elf Chief Licht, charged forward. "Light Creation Magic—Judgment Sword!"
Dozens of golden swords appeared in the air, all targeting Yuno.
Yuno whispered calmly, "Mana Zone—Spirit of Zephyr's Dance."
Like a windborne spirit, he glided effortlessly through the air. Not a single light blade touched him.
Patry's eyes widened. "What?! He dodged all of that?!"
Yuno's speed suddenly peaked. "Mana Zone—Double Spirit Storm!"
Liar, another elf, looked stunned. "In such a short time, both his human and elven magic have evolved... This kid's talent might even surpass Licht's!"
Meanwhile, Ronné silently appeared behind Yuno. Caught off guard, Yuno quickly retreated. "I didn't sense him with my Mana Zone! He's not fast—he just… teleported?!"
Then his expression shifted. "No, it's me who's been moved! He can transfer anything he touches!"
When Yuno glanced down, the magic stone from his chest was already gone.
Yuno's voice grew cold. "I don't care what that stone is. It's mine—give it back!"
Liar walked over. "Nice one, Ronné! You were always unbeatable at hide-and-seek."
Ronné grinned, holding the stone. "Looks like everything I've done is finally paying off."
Liar's eyes suddenly turned sharp. "I can see through lies... Why was that a lie, Ronné? Who are you really?"
Yuno and Patry froze in shock.
Ronné's face twisted into an eerie smile. Before anyone could react, he appeared right in front of Liar—
—and punched a hole clean through his abdomen.
"Since when… did he become Ronné?!" Liar thought as his vision blurred.
Patry rushed forward, kneeling beside him. "Liar! Liar, hang on!"
He immediately cast healing light magic. "What's happening?! Ronné, what are you doing?!"
The fake Ronné spoke slowly, his tone dark. "The three leaves of the clover represent faith, hope, and love. The fourth stands for good luck."
He looked down, his grin widening. "But the fifth leaf... harbors a demon."
"I remember now—the day I used the bonds between those chosen by the four-leaf clover grimoire... to give birth to the grimoire of despair!"
Floating upward, he drifted toward a raised platform.
"The thing that should've been mine long ago... I'll finally take it back today."
Yuno frowned. "That mana—it's not elven!"
Fake Ronné descended onto the platform covered in runes. "This is the Shadow Palace, a space between this world and the next... The perfect place to summon something from the underworld."
He placed the stolen magic stone at the center of the spell.
A chilling black aura erupted from the circle, and slowly, a dark humanoid figure began to form.
A black soul left Ronné's body and merged with the shadowy figure.
Two horns sprouted from its head.
Yuno's eyes widened. "What is that… that dark, freezing mana?!"
Before everyone's eyes, the black shape became a full, hideous demon, skin pitch-black and wings stretching wide.
Patry was drenched in cold sweat. "No… it can't be. A demon?!"
The demon stretched his wings, a thin tail swaying behind him. "It's been centuries since I've felt my own body. Not fully restored yet, but... it feels good to be back."
He looked down at Patry. "Elf chosen by the four-leaf grimoire—you've done well. I truly admire your efforts."
"But now... I'll let you taste the same despair as Licht."
Patry trembled. "W-what are you talking about?!"
The demon smirked. "That day, when humans slaughtered the elves—it was all my doing."
"Greedy humans were so easy to manipulate. You elves fell for my trap perfectly, blinded by revenge."
"You carried out my plan flawlessly."
"You really are the biggest fools of all."
