Chapter 125 - Chapter 125 – The Sphere of Despair

he battlefield trembled under the oppressive weight of Kaerath's aura. Dust, debris, and shattered fragments of Tokyo floated through the air, suspended by sheer destructive energy. Hyejin struggled to remain upright, frost aura flickering like a dying ember, while Ethan's golden shield had been battered to its limits. Akira pressed forward despite the pain, cursed sword in hand, aura blazing against the overwhelming darkness.

Kaerath's twin heads observed them with a predator's precision. His crimson eyes glinted, his four arms coiling like serpents ready to strike. The black-green aura around him surged, forming a vortex that twisted the air itself.

"Your efforts amuse me no longer," Kaerath growled, voice resonating through the shattered streets. "It is time to end this."

He drew energy from the surrounding chaos, gathering it into a dense, pulsating sphere of malice. Shadows and flames coiled together, forming an orb that radiated pure despair — a force designed not merely to kill but to crush hope.

"Behold… the Sphere of Despair," Kaerath whispered, almost reverently, as the orb expanded, its energy warping the very ground beneath them.

Hyejin's frost aura flared instinctively, forming spikes around her as she tried to stabilize herself. Ethan's shield flickered weakly under the pull of Kaerath's energy vortex. Akira's hand gripped his cursed sword tighter, muscles trembling, but he refused to retreat.

"We can't… let him—" Hyejin gasped, frost flickering, shards breaking midair.

"We fight," Akira whispered, aura flaring. "No matter what."

Kaerath raised all four arms, and with a thunderous roar, the Sphere of Despair shot forward, spinning like a miniature black sun. The air around it burned, twisting space and energy. The sound was deafening, a vibration that rattled teeth and bones alike.

Hyejin tried to intercept it with Moonlight Frost Spikes, while Ethan surged forward with Solar Nova, flames colliding against the sphere. But the sphere was no ordinary attack. Its gravity bent the air, its energy shredded defenses, and its raw weight forced the trio back.

"Akira, dodge!" Hyejin screamed, aura flickering dangerously.

Akira lunged, sword swinging in a desperate arc, trying to redirect the sphere's path, but the speed and density of the attack were beyond human limits. The Sphere of Despair smashed into his leg with bone-shattering force.

CRACK!

Akira collapsed to one knee, agony radiating through his body. Vision blurred, blood trickling down his leg where the energy had burned through flesh and muscle. His cursed sword slipped from his grasp, clattering against the debris-strewn ground.

"Akira!" Ethan shouted, rushing forward, aura flaring in desperation to shield him.

Hyejin's frost aura formed a fragile cocoon, but the force of the sphere threw her off balance, shards scattering in all directions. The ground shook violently under the impact, and dust and debris filled the air, obscuring everything in a cloud of chaos.

Akira's vision swam. The once-clear battlefield was now a blur of dust, fire, and chaos. Sounds of the battle — the clash of energy, screams, explosions — faded into a distant ringing in his ears. Every movement was agony, every breath a struggle.

"I… I can't… fall… now," he muttered through gritted teeth, blood mixing with dust on his face.

Ethan grabbed his arm, trying to pull him out of immediate danger. Hyejin floated nearby, frost aura flickering weakly, trying to stabilize the fragments beneath them.

"Akira, stay with us! Focus!" Ethan shouted, aura flaring in a desperate protective shield.

But Akira's body refused to respond fully. Pain and blood dulled his awareness, consciousness slipping like sand through his fingers. His cursed sword lay just out of reach, black energy faintly pulsing, waiting for him to rise.

"We… can't… stop… now," Akira whispered, voice faint, almost lost.

The Sphere of Despair hovered dangerously close, pulsating with malevolent energy, as Kaerath's twin heads watched coldly. Every second of hesitation could mean death, every moment of weakness could end their fight.

Hyejin's frost aura shattered into a million shards as she tried to create distance, but the pull of Kaerath's energy pressed them back relentlessly. Ethan's golden light flickered, aura reserves draining faster than he could replenish them.

"This… this is it… the wall… we can't… overcome," Hyejin muttered, voice trembling.

Akira tried to crawl forward, muscles screaming in protest. His leg throbbed violently, but a small spark of determination ignited in his heart.

"I… will… fight," he whispered, aura flickering weakly, eyes dim but burning.

Kaerath's laughter echoed across the battlefield, twin heads tilting, watching their struggle with detached amusement.

"So fragile… yet so stubborn," Kaerath murmured. "Let us see if hope can survive despair."

The Sphere of Despair's energy pulsed ominously, darkness radiating outward like a storm ready to consume everything in its path.

Akira's vision blurred completely, consciousness fading as the ringing in his ears grew louder. He lay half-collapsed among the rubble, cursed sword just out of reach, aura barely flickering.

Hyejin and Ethan flanked him, exhausted but determined, auras flashing in desperate pulses. The battlefield stretched into chaos, dust and debris spiraling endlessly as Kaerath's energy swirled around them, oppressive and unyielding.

"We… fight… together," Akira whispered, barely audible, bloodied and broken.

The Sphere of Despair hung over him — a symbol of the overwhelming power that humanity's last defenders now faced. The clash between defiance and annihilation had reached its tipping point.
