Chapter 11 - Taming a Calamity Wolf

CHAPTER ELEVEN

.....

"Hey, System, what are the Battle Points used for?"

Carl asked the system, wanting to know more about what they were all about.

[Their uses are plenty. You can click on it on your status, and it will show you what it's all about.]

The system replied. It knew that if it simply explained everything, it wouldn't be able to convey the information properly. It would be better for Carl to see the details directly through the system interface.

Carl immediately clicked on [Battle Points [B.P]] on the system interface.

Information about the Battle Points immediately appeared in front of him.

...

[Battle Points]

DESCRIPTION: The core functions of the system can only be accessed through Battle Points. This is to encourage the host to fight more battles and accumulate Battle Points.

USE 1: Equivalent Exchange:

When the host gathers a total of 10,000 Battle Points, the System Shop function will be activated, allowing the host to exchange Battle Points for things inside.

You can exchange for anything as long as you have enough Battle Points to cover the cost.

The things that can be exchanged for are not limited to Skill Books, Equipment, Weapons, Materials, Tools, Potions, and Scrolls.

You can also exchange for Attribute Points, Luck Points, Dungeon Keys, Trial Stones... and many other things.

USE 2: Synthesis and Upgrade:

With enough Battle Points, you can synthesize items and upgrade existing items.

This function will only become available when the host has accumulated up to 2,000,000 Battle Points.

...

All Carl could do was smile when he saw the overpowered uses of the Battle Points.

The Battle Points were practically a form of currency, but what they could purchase was simply extraordinary. Just thinking about everything he could obtain from the System Shop made Carl's heart itch with anticipation.

He couldn't help but want to try using it immediately.

Unfortunately, he would just have to wait until he accumulated 10,000 Battle Points.

But that was nothing.

It was merely a matter of time.

As long as he continued finding things to kill, accumulating 10,000 Battle Points would be a trivial matter.

The system spoke up at this moment.

[Don't think that anything you kill will give you a thousand points. These monsters are special monsters nurtured by a Powerful Being. Under normal circumstances, you would only receive a hundred points at most.]

[The points you receive depend on the strength of the monster or the thing you kill. Even killing a fellow human will give you Battle Points.]

The system explained patiently.

Carl nodded in understanding.

He had thought he had found a way to cheat the system.

Alas, it was merely his wishful thinking.

"I should check on the two other wolves that were thrown away by the shockwave."

Carl looked around and quickly spotted the other two wolves.

Both of them had died inside the crater, their bodies smashed into a bloody mess and reduced to little more than meat paste.

These two were actually the ones that had managed to react to the incoming shockwave.

It seemed they possessed some kind of special talent that automatically activated to save their lives at the critical moment.

Even so, only one of them was still breathing.

Its internal organs had been ruptured, and its body was covered in wounds. It was barely clinging to its last breath.

Carl calmly walked to its side and reached out, touching its head.

The wolf gave out a weak, threatening growl, its eyes still filled with wariness and hostility despite its severely injured state.

Carl paid no heed to it.

"You would make a good mount. Submit to me, and I can still save you."

Carl's voice carried a threatening tone.

The wolf seemed to understand what Carl meant.

Almost immediately, its body became docile.

No one wanted to die when there was still a chance to stay alive.

Even beasts were no exception, especially those that possessed intelligence, even if that intelligence was only slight.

Carl immediately smiled.

It wasn't that Carl actually knew how to save the wolf.

He simply wanted to test a conjecture.

Since the wolf was severely injured, perhaps he could extract the Essence Blood of the other wolves of the same species and then make this wolf absorb it.

If his conjecture was correct, the concentrated blood essence could stimulate its bloodline and potential, causing its body to undergo an evolution.

And perhaps, in the process, its injuries would be healed as well.

It was somewhat similar to when someone wanted to sleep in order to rest their mind, only for the process of sleeping to also remove the fatigue from their body.

It was just a conjecture.

But Carl had no intention of letting a possible opportunity slip away.

He asked the system in his mind,

"System, if I extract the Essence Blood of the other wolves, is it possible to use it to heal its wounds?"

[You are not stupid after all.]

The system simply said before going silent again.

Carl was stupefied.

What kind of answer was that?

Had this system gone senile?

He scratched his head in bewilderment.

Still, he decided to give it a try.

He then walked toward the corpse closest to him.

He stretched out his hand and touched its body.

Then he activated the system skill...

Essence Extraction.

...

Immediately, as if he were the Blood Demon himself, the blood within the wolf's body began to move.

It started gathering at an astonishing speed.

The blood coursed through the corpse, converging toward a single point as the process of gathering, condensing, and filtering began.

The blood gradually condensed into the shape of a round object no bigger than a fist.

Then, the system began removing the useless blood while retaining only the useful essence.

The massive quantity of blood rapidly diminished.

In the end, only a tiny amount remained.

The blood essence was no bigger than a thumbnail, yet it emitted an incredibly powerful and chaotic aura.

It had been refined to its purest state.

Carl immediately walked toward the injured wolf lying on the ground.

He patted its head, calming it down.

The wolf had already become restless because of the tantalizing aroma coming from the blood essence.

Carl told it to open its mouth before feeding the Essence Blood to it.

The moment the Essence Blood entered its body...

It was like a chain reaction had been triggered.

The Calamity Wolf's body suddenly trembled violently.

"ROOOOAAARRR!"

A powerful roar erupted from its maw, filled with immense pain and agony...

But beneath that pain was a trace of something else.

A hint of...

Happiness.

Carl's eyes narrowed slightly.

Interesting.

He immediately went into the crater, where the other two Calamity Wolves had died.

Once again, he activated Essence Extraction.

...

...

The same process repeated itself once again.

The blood within the two corpses began gathering together.

Two separate blood masses slowly condensed before undergoing the same filtration process.

The useless blood was stripped away, leaving behind only the purest and most potent essence.

Eventually, two sparkling blood pearls, each no bigger than a thumbnail, appeared before Carl.

Carl collected the two blood essences before immediately returning to where the Calamity Wolf was.

The wolf was still writhing violently on the ground.

Its body trembled uncontrollably, and its claws dug deeply into the earth as it struggled against the overwhelming energy coursing through its veins.

Carl didn't hesitate.

He injected the two blood essences directly into its body.

Immediately...

The pain the wolf was experiencing increased considerably.

"ROOOOOAAARRR!"

A roar of pure agony erupted from its maw.

Its voice shook the surrounding air.

A crimson aura suddenly erupted from its body, spreading wildly around it.

At the same time, flashes of black lightning began to dance through the red aura.

BOOM!

A thick blood cloud suddenly emerged from the Calamity Wolf's body.

It rapidly expanded, enveloping the wolf completely, as if its entire body had been submerged inside a sea of blood.

It looked as though the blood within its body was evaporating, turning into an enormous crimson cloud that churned violently around it.

Carl watched everything with intense interest.

He had no idea what would happen next.

But judging from the terrifying changes taking place before him...

Something extraordinary was clearly happening.

Then...

A powerful aura suddenly exploded from the center of the blood cloud.

BOOOOOOM!

The earth trembled violently.

The surrounding air seemed to freeze.

An overwhelming pressure spread outward in all directions.

And then...

ROOOOOOOOAAARRRR!

A roar that shook the very air and pressured the earth itself resounded across the surroundings.

The sound was majestic.

Ancient.

Overwhelming.

It carried an indescribable might that seemed to come from the depths of the bloodline itself.

At that moment, the entire atmosphere changed.

A majestic aura spread in all directions...

And Carl's eyes widened slightly as he stared into the violently churning blood cloud.

Something was about to emerge.
