*Vroom*
The dark orange Lamborghini pulled over, and Glenn stepped out. On the other side, Sharon also left the passenger seat with a smile, and with anticipation in her steps, walked around the car to take the wheel. Glenn shook her head with a slight smile, and sat in the passenger seat before buckling her seatbelt.
"Sit tight."
The reminder came from the side, but its source didn't let it have the time to settle in the mind of the redhead. With a sharp shift of gears, the blonde, now looking slightly excited, pressed on the accelerator and took her foot off the brake. With a slight screech, it shot off like a bullet leaving a chamber, climbing right to the speed limit in the next second.
It was dark already, but the road was still full of cars, though not as congested as it had been during the day. Moving to the fast lane, a comfortable smile unconsciously made its way to Sharon's lips as she swerved between the few obstacles on the road, her focus both tense and relaxed at the same time.
But what was obvious, as Glenn looked at her with a smile at the corner of her mouth, was the absence of the worry that had been lingering at the blonde's brows in the recent period. Showing her happiness in her smile, she felt the car slow down, and turned to find the light at the crossroad they had arrived turning red.
That meant that despite speeding to the limit, Sharon kept herself at the border of recklessness, never beyond. Glenn's smile deepened, but it faltered in the next moment when a jarring sound came to pollute the ambiance:
*Vroom!~ Whistle~*
The source of the catcall was a convertible that slowed to a stop at the red light just like them. The car was also a sleek sports car, one with a value not any lower than their borrowed car. It was a Ferrari, a SF90, obviously a Spider, not a Stradale.
With its hardtop retracted, when the two girls looked over, they were met with short brown hair, a clean, somewhat dashing look, and a handsome smile that looked like an inviting smirk on his lips. The attention made the charming smile that was used to being a universal pass grow, before its owner opened his mouth:
"Hey, girls…"
*Vroom!*
The rest of the pickup line never came, or Sharon and Glenn just never got to hear it. The light turned green, and the Lamborghini promptly took off with a booming noise, its body gleaming under the lights of the night as it left the convertible driver to woo the dust it left behind.
There was a moment of silence in the car, before Sharon and Glenn exchanged a glance, and seeing the amusement each was holding back, they exploded with the kind of bright, unrestrained feminine laughter women only ever let out when they were between friends of the same gender:
"Hahahaha…"
With that bright sound muffled for the most part by the closed windows, the Lamborghini continued on its way to the venue of the party.
_ _ _
_ _ _
Noisy. Even before going inside the venue, that was Sharon's first impression at the entrance of the racetrack.
Glenn retracted her hand, along with her phone which contained their electronic pass:
"We're good, let's go."
Once the barrier was taken off, Sharon drove inside. The shouts inside the venue became clearer at that moment. The blonde could hear the exhilaration they were carrying, the excitement, the fire. She could also hear the voices of different car engines that seemed to be in a competition for the loudest one, the deepest-sounding one, even the most powerful one.
Even before seeing the scene, Sharon could imagine the fair-like appearance of the party. It was nothing like she had expected, with all the wildness seemingly directed at what the party was truly about.
Taking a deep breath to calm her beating heart, she turned around the corner, and finally stepped into the world that didn't seem to know of the night. Or maybe, it was exactly the night that made it come alive.
Explosive. That was the only adjective capable of describing the venue. It was explosive and wild, with a heat that had nothing to do with the sun, and which existed exactly because the sun had gone down.
Suppressing the unconscious pounding of her heart, Sharon made the sleek dark orange symbol of elegant aggressivity glide forward slowly, attracting a few glances, before finding a place of its own in the fair.
She didn't go out immediately. Instead, she looked around first.
The place was a true stadium, with bleachers, but also a large field, where the crowd was going wild, and an even wider space where a long track full of twists, turns, and bends sat contorted like a giant snake. Most obvious of all was the podium, the stage at the side of the track, visible even from one hundred meters away over the heads of the crowd of hundreds. It was dark but shining bright under the glaring spotlights while neighboring a giant screen that was showing the live feed of the competition on the track. It was the latter that hooked the attention of the whole place.
Glenn looked at Sharon with a smile, seemingly having expected the reaction the blonde was showing, then unbuckled her seatbelt and opened the door while calling out loudly over the noise:
"Let's go!"
Her action pulled Sharon out of her daze, and she didn't hesitate to follow suit. Exhaling a breath, she opened the door on her side, and extended her long leg outside. When she put her weight on the heel that left the beautiful deep red of her toenails open to the air, and stood to her full height to look around, none of the expected attention came. She did not become the new center of attention as usual, but she was not disappointed.
Here, men and women were not characterized by handsomeness or beauty, but by wildness. But more than that, it was the cars of all kinds, mostly sports cars capable of raw speed and with all kinds of obvious modifications, that hit the speed enthusiast nerve she had discovered in herself not long ago, and she found herself contaminated by the excitement of the place.
*BA-DUM*
Enduring the wave of heat that hit her exposed skin like a blast from an explosion, at that moment, she forgot all about her usual distaste for parties. She forgot about the preconceived notions behind her initial reluctance. And she did not even notice the unburdened curve created at the corner of her red lips at that moment. Raising her hand, she caught her mischievous strands of blond hair, as even the wind seemed excited tonight.
