Chapter 15 - THE SHADERS CREW

Techno City burned with chaos. Smoke spiraled into the night sky, sirens howled, and the U.I.C. unleashed wave after wave of enforcers to crush the intruders. But the Shaders weren't intruders anymore — they were a storm.

---

Vince was the sharpest blade of the storm. His Nitrox Blades sparked with lightning as he danced through the armored soldiers, their bulky armor clumsy against his speed. "Tch," he spat between gritted teeth, sparks exploding around him, "don't think I'll go easy on you just because you've got badges." His movements were mechanical precision, every strike efficient — but behind his scowl, his mind kept flicking back to Charles, and the weight of his inherited enchantment.

---

Emily wasn't on the frontlines. She ducked and weaved between rubble, a trembling hand clutching a small enchanted trinket she refused to use. Instead, she shouted quick observations, her sharp mind saving the crew from ambushes. "Left! Behind you!" she screamed at Vince, just in time for him to twist and parry. She hated fighting, hated danger — but her cowardice masked an intuition that kept the Shaders alive.

---

Ryder looked like a coward too, at first. He stood frozen as Miners cornered him and his goats outside the city's ruined gate. But then the wind surged, bursting from him like a wild beast. His goats scattered, and he grinned recklessly, his hair whipping in the gale. "You really thought I'd let you lay a hand on them? Sorry — I'm the GOAT. Greatest of all time!" He fought with reckless joy, his Wind Burst enchantment flinging enemies skyward. Yet, when the last one fell, his grin cracked. He glanced around, muttering shyly, "I… I didn't mean to show off."

---

James moved like shadow and steel. Calm, collected, his twin redstone-forged pistols spat bursts of crackling bullets, each shot placed with surgical precision. His mental XP gave him flickers of foresight, and he fought as though he'd already memorized the battlefield. When a squad rushed him, he stepped aside before they struck, murmuring in a cool, clipped accent, "Predictable." But when Vince caught sight of his cold efficiency, sparks of rivalry burned in his eyes.

---

And then there was Hunter.

He stood at the heart of the storm, laughing. His fists glowed faintly, the knockback force rippling through every strike as he smashed soldier after soldier aside. The U.I.C. base loomed behind them, a fortress of stone and steel bristling with weapons.

"Hunter, we don't have the numbers for this!" Vince barked, electricity snapping across his blades.

"Good thing I don't need numbers," Hunter grinned, blood on his lip, eyes blazing with defiance. "I've got something better."

He turned, raised his fists to the fortress, and the world seemed to tremble. With a reckless roar, he unleashed the force of his knockback in a single, devastating strike. The ground split. The walls shuddered. And with a final, echoing crash, the U.I.C. base collapsed in on itself, smoke and fire devouring its frame.

Silence followed. Then Hunter staggered back, his grin somehow wider than before. "See? Told you. All you need is a little push."

---

The Shaders gathered, battered and bruised, but alive. Emily hugged her knees, muttering, "We're insane…" Ryder scratched the back of his neck, sheepish now, muttering about his goats. James holstered his pistols with calm precision. Vince looked like he wanted to scold Hunter — but when their captain burst out laughing, loud and shameless, even he couldn't hold back the faintest smirk.

For the first time, all of them smiled together.

Their journey had truly begun.

---

Far from the city, as their ship cut across the waves under the stars, a stray gust of wind dropped a paper onto the deck. None of them noticed.

On its front was a sketch — Hunter's grin, bold and unashamed. His name written below:

HUNTER J. CRAFT

1.5 STARS

The first bounty of the Shaders Crew.

And the end of the Java Saga.
