| Jinzhou's City Hall Area |

(JEFF'S POV)
The City of Jinzhou was on a celebratory mode after the battle with the Overthrax.
The hours after the battle ended had been rather… uneventful, Jeff felt. He thought back, remembering all that had happened since he arrived at Solaris,
He found himself lost on what to do that all of the experience the ordeal had given him. Though he felt he probably shouldn't think like that, it might just be inviting trouble to his doorstep. My future self will have to deal will it.
He took a sip of the glass of honeyed wine offered by the bartender in the Resto near the City Hall. He had come to really appreciate the taste of the specialty, finding himself coming here most nights to take a couple glasses before sleeping drowning his sorrows with alcohol, a shameful coping mechanism but works for him nonetheless. The Magistrate had been kind enough to offer him and Rover a room in the quarter, though maybe that was just a given, he was their honored guest, after all.
"Forgive me Sir, I didn't quite catch that?". The voice of the bartender snapped him out of his thoughts.
He looked up at the young man, clearly on his early twenties, looking at him with an expression of both concern and the slightest bit of annoyance.
I guessed you'd have to hide it well if you wanted to work in this kind of setting. I've been in his shoes. Of course, he understood, it was about to be twelve at night and he was the only customer around.
Normally there would be a couple more people at this hour, he knew from experience, but right now, he was alone with the man.
"Oh, sorry, nothing else for today. I'll pay you and call it a night." I answered him, patting his pockets to search for shell credits to no avail. He could pay with his terminal, but he forgot the password again, to his shame. A couple seconds passed, but he couldn't find the card…
"Oh, I wouldn't be so quick to go, after all, the night is still young for someone like you… and someone like me. Sir Mike, two glasses of honeyed wine… add some orange on mine, if you would". She spoke softly, not even looking at the young bartender.
"Y-Yes, Lady…!". The young man scrambled to obey, searching and mixing and cutting the fresh fruit. Jeff turned around immediately, permitting himself to take in the sight of the beautiful lady in front of him, admiring her flawless clothes, her glossy lips forming a smile that accentuated her beauty perfectly, the light of the stars only making her look all the more enchanting to him. And the influence of the alcohol only made him fall in love completely.
"Hmm? See something you like, Jeff?". Rover teased him.
"Heh, forgive me, I'm a bit tipsy already, and the sight was just too delightful not to take in...". Jeff smiled down at her from his chair, seeing the slight blush spread out on her face as she walked towards him, carefully climbing on the chair beside him.
¨Why are you here, I thought you were asleep by now recuperating from the battle we partook in?" Jeff asked her, trying to keep his gaze to her upper quarters, finally downing what was left of his last glass, washing down the sweet wine, enjoying the aftertaste.
Rover lightly shaked her head, grabbing the drink offered by the bartender, with Jeff doing the same thing, looking down at his full wine glass. Third one of the night, if he wasn't drunk before, he was probably about to be. But he wasn't about to miss the chance of having a drink with Rover, he would be a fool to do so, he knew.
Not because of any bootlicking opportunities or something like that, he didn't need to get in the good graces of the esteemed Arbiter. He just liked spending time with his beloved Rover.
"I saw you missing in the bed so I went looking for you and I found you here". She tried to hide it, but he was good at seeing through people.
"Well, you found me my dear Rover. Why don't we toast in celebration for our hard earned victory?". He proposed, lifting his glass towards her, that cute smile creeping back onto her face along with the rosy hue of that blush that still hasn't gone away.
Rover moved her glass towards his.
"For what lies ahead". He spoke softly.
"And for our own future".Rover finished, clinking her glass on his.
Jeff lifted his eyebrow, but she was already downing her glass, so he did the same, drinking a couple sips of the sweet alcohol.
He could see that her blush had deepened, and her eyes had lost some of the confidence that she had when she arrived, looking all cool and saving him in his monetary pinch.
"Haah". Rover gasped, having downed more than half of the glass. That was unusual on her, Jeff observed, she was normally a slow drinker. "Sir Mike, start with another for me in a couple minutes, please...". She asked the young bartender, who nodded subserviently.
An uncomfortable silence formed, Rover's eyes darting this way and that while Jeff nursed his drink, until he finally got the courage to speak.
"Rover-"
"Jeff-"
"...You first". She spoke quickly, looking at him, her face half red.
"About what happened in there when you guys were fighting the Ovathrax, you alright?… Forgive me if I'm intruding, but… do you want to talk about it?". He asked her, his deep voice somewhat soothing her nerves. Listening to him would calm her completely if it weren't that he was the cause of her nervousness.
"I…". She spoke in a low voice, hesitating to lay her feelings bare. "I just need time to let the wounds heal. I'll be good as new".
She placed it on the bar, looking up at him, her smile back at full force. "Thank you for worrying about me, that… makes me happy". She averted her eyes again, nodding gratefully as the bartender handed her the second glass she requested.
Jeff worried again, downing an entire glass of that wine in two seconds flat probably wasn't good for a woman as robust as Rover was. At least in frame, she thought, because the thickness of her thighs and the width of her hips called him like a moth to the flame.
Or a man to a woman, honestly…
"Now...". She said, having drinked half of the second glass while he was in thought. "What you asked actually relates somewhat to what I wanted to talk to you about...". She wobbled slightly on her chair, before adjusting her posture. She made a small gesture with her hand, signaling to come closer.
He slid his chair closer to hers, leaning down to get closer to her level. The bartender was doing whatever he could to distract himself on the far end of the bar, wanting to avoid listening in.
Moving his gaze around to see there wasn't anyone else listening in-a habit he picked up while working-, he realized that dark clouds started gathering above the Resto, eclipsing the light of the stars, lamp echoes starting to activate.
"Our mysterious past cast a very shadow over us….You already know that...". She whispered, her voice soft almost vulnerable. He quite enjoyed this tone of hers, different to her usual confident manner.
"So I had some time to ponder on the future while I was alone..." Her hand crept, moving from her knee to his, startling him somewhat, but he didn't let it show, drinking from his glass to dissimulate his fluster.
"So I thought that… maybe we...". Rover slowly leaned on the chair, getting close to his listening ear, her hot breath on his skin making him want to turn around to kiss her already.
When he suddenly felt her gloved hand gently grab his chin, turning his head in her direction, almost no distance between then, his eyes on her beautiful face, her lips slightly parted, her face completely tinted red from the embarrasment.
Her eyes begged him to finish what she started, and so he did, closing what little distance was between them and pressing his lips to hers, the hand on his leg tightening its hold as they kissed under the light of the lamp echoes, the stars completely eclipsed by the swirling dark clouds.
The hand on his cheek moved to the back of his head, black hair passing between her fingers as she held him in place, the pressing of lips quickly turning steamier as she opened her mouth, her tongue prodding at his lips, immediately being allowed entry to embroil into a slow, wet waltz, passionate yet measured, sharing their own taste with each other, along with the saccharine aftertaste of the honeyed wine.
Jeff moved his hand, posing it over hers, making her let go of his knee by twining his fingers with hers, her grip strong yet careful, as if she was grasping a precious gem. His other hand posed itself on her waist before passing to her back, touching her uncovered skin and pulling her closer to him, her legs dangling from the high chair.
The only thing that could make them pull apart was the feeling of the starting rain, the heavy drops falling on their heads signaling the coming downpour.
Rover breathed heavily, her eyes half-lidded. Now he understood why she drank so much so fast, she felt she needed the liquid courage to make her move, even being such a confident woman, she didn't have any real experience with love.
"We're going...". Jeff whispered, his deep, breathy voice making her lower body tighten instinctively.
" Sir M-ike, charge it all to me, we're have to go…!". They drinked the last of their glasses before jumping off the chairs, moving fast, before the young bartender could say a word.

| City Hall Living Quarters |
—————————————————
(JEFF'S POV)
"Careful... one step at a time." He instructed, helping her move up the stairs, her legs wobbly after the sudden injection of alcohol and the intense kiss they just shared. Specially the second, her head spinning with excitement at having finally done it.
The rain started pouring strongly, but Jeff found his key fast, opening the door and ushering Rover inside. Still, in the couple minutes they spent in the rain, they got completely soaked.
"Thank you...". Rover murmured, sitting herself on the couch in the center of the living room of their temporary quarters.
She felt light-headed after sitting, which he noticed while giving her a towel to dry herself, taking off his gloves and getting one for himself too. "Two glasses for someone of your… constitution, is a bit much, specially so quickly...". He reproached her softly, watching her sit back sideways on the couch, one leg raised and letting him see those black bloomers in all their glory.
He shook his head. "I have some tea for the drunkeness, I got it after... well, that's not important, just give me a moment...".
He turned his back on her, walking a couple steps towards the kitchenette, quickly filling the kettle with water and turning the heat on. He looked at the water, slowly heating up, trying to just pass the time.
He didn't want to turn around, because he knew that as soon as he laid eyes on Rover again, the tea would be abandoned as she seduces him again. Maybe she wasn't experienced with love exactly, but she knew pretty well how to entrace men.
Jeff heard her sigh slightly, before a wet thud called his attention, instinctively making him turn around, seeing that she had thrown the soaked towel on the floor beside the green couch, on which she was sitting on sideways, both her legs planted on its surface. Now it was completely overt, the way she was showing him those black bloomers.
"Jeff... Those crimson eyes of yours... They're very beautiful...". Her words weren't even the barest bit slurred, showing that even if she was somewhat drunk, it still hadn't hit her completely.
"Come sit with me, will you?...". Jeff hesitated for a second, before turning the kitchen off. He knew he wasn't getting back to the tea.
He moved towards the couch, Jeff retracting her legs to make space for him to sit, before extending them again over his legs once he did. She spoke, looking up at the hanging lamp over the couch. "Jeff... I know that there's a lot we don't know. About ourselves. About our past." Her fingers slowly found his. " And maybe that makes things complicated," she continued. "Maybe it makes this... reckless."
Her gazed shifted back to him. Locked onto his eyes. " But after everything we've been through..." she exhaled, a faint blush coloring her cheeks, "...I don't want something safe."
She let out a sigh, before looking directly at him. " I want something real, even if it's messy, Even if it's uncertain." She blushed, but she smiled too, not averting her gaze at all.
"Even if it doesn't last forever."
Jeff's hands played on her legs, before posing one of what little was exposed of her thigh, being met by her own hand, fingers intertwining again. "So, would you indulge me?... Indulge this whirlwind of a relationship where all that will guide us is passion?... Where our time together would maybe brief, yet extraordinary?...". Her voice was breathy, her gaze intense.
Jeff stayed quiet for a moment, wondering how to answer her, before deciding just to show her his answer.
He leaned sideways, passing one hand under her thighs and the other behind her back, lifting her off the couch and planting her right on his lap. Handling her was effortless, her weight low. Or maybe he was just strong, right now, it didn't really matter at this moment.
What mattered was her weight on his legs, the smell of her perfume on his nose, the admiring gaze she was giving him with those beautiful, golden eyes that enchanted him so.
"That kind of relationship sounds like a very exciting kind of torture... Yet also incredibly romantic...". He breathed, burying his face on her neck.
"One where we steal every moment we can out of our busy lives to be with each other...". Rover whispered on his ear, wrapping her arms around him.
"Until the time comes...Where we won't have to so for now… Fall for me… will you?". She finished.
"I already have..." He finished, pulling back after getting enough of her smell, looking at her, golden eyes gleaming in the light.
