[Shadow Step(R)]
Shadow Step was a hard skill to master in the Shadow element. It was a pure movement skill that took the formless attribute of the shadow and used it to increase mobility almost to the level of spatial practitioners. One such skill similar to that was the Shadow Transfer skill that Luck had learnt.
The skill allowed rapid movement for the caster by essentially 'stepping' into an already existing shadow and teleporting to another.
As far as skills go, this skill has an enormous potential for any class, giving a significant boost in ranged and close combat, evasion, stealth, etcetera, etcetera.
This was the skill that Tara would use to accomplish the task Luck had given her.
Tara crept swiftly to the nearest goblins, watching them engage in their 'activities', filled her with a sense of disgust.
Like a ghost, she seemed to pass through the two creatures, a thin line appearing on their necks, allowing blood to flow quite freely.
By the time the goblins had dropped dead, the red-headed girl had already appeared in the nearest shadow.
Glancing at Freya, or where the undead was supposed to be, as all she saw was a moving shadow, as several bolts burst out of it towards their intended targets.
Together, the two were on an unstoppable killing spree.
They still had to be careful, though, the 'ceremony' was not only meant for goblins after all.
The occasional hobgoblin could be seen in the crowd as they busied themselves with their 'work'.
Even further away, a group of goblins huddled together as they continued with the program. Although they did not resemble hobgoblins and their clothing concealed their stature, it was clear that they were all B-rank monsters.
Unlike the goblins, the hobgoblins, and the secluded, they did not find solace in each other. No, their sexual activities consisted of a very different race.
Races, actually. Tara watched with shaking fists as humans, beatsfolk, demihumans, and many other races were ravaged by the green imps.
(They're trying to strengthen their village force by crossbreeding.) Tara realized. It was actually very if one thought about it thoroughly. They get the best qualities of the superior races while maintaining their goblin ancestry.
Tara had no plans to help them now. She may feel hate towards the goblins for their atrocities, but right now, she was too weak to do anything. She could only conceal her presence and hope they would not notice and swarm her.
So she stayed away from the center and the edges of the party, where the developed goblins gathered the most, as she reduced their population by the second.
The two, undead and living, worked seamlessly as they took life after life.
Unfortunately, their flow was soon to be broken.
At every gathering, after all, the head always liked to make a late appearance.
Tara suddenly stopped as she felt the ground beneath her subtly tremble.
Looking at the source, she saw a hut. The hut was at the direct center of the settlement, leaving the partyers to gather round it.
Whoever was about to walk out was someone important.
A figure stepped out of the hut. It was large, at least three meters. It was lean, but equipped with muscles that seemed to be packed with enough power to rival an industrial engine underneath its green skin.
Unlike a goblin, two tusks sat menacingly on his lower jaw. Wearing a simple coat of animal skin around its waist, it worked with measured steps, a large war axe in one hand, while in the other-
(Of course, only the best for the king.) Tara thought dryly as she saw the girl slung over the goblin chief's shoulder.
Even from here, Tara could tell that the girl was beautiful. Almost extremely so.
She was currently unconscious, and her silken black hair obstructed most of her features, but Tara could barely notice how her ears were slightly longer than those of a human.
(Of course, it had to be an elf,) Tara thought wryly. (A half-elf, to be exact.)
The chief suddenly stopped, making Tara unconsciously stiffen.
(Don't tell me....) Tara's heart pounded erratically as the chief suddenly faced her direction with narrowed eyes.
(Shit!)
*Boom*
Tara only saw a green blur as before she knew it, the goblin chief was already in front of her.
(What kind of speed is that!?!) Tara thought as she immediately dropped to the ground and rolled aside, barely dodging the axe blade that crashed into the spot where she had stood moments ago.
"Guys, we've been compromised!) Tara yelled as she sprang to her feet, smoothly switching her daggers for guns, pulling the triggers with immediate effect.
(Rapid Fire)
*Bang**Bang**Bang*...
Numerous shots pelted the chief's skin. Unfortunately, only a quarter of the original amount could injure the goblin's skin.
That was enough to earn its anger, though.
"Rooooooaaaaarrrrrr"
The village chief bellowed, alerting the natives of the goblin settlement to their intruders.
Tara clicked her tongue as she backed away. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a small black ball racing towards the chief. The leader ignored it as it ran quickly toward Tara with earth-shaking steps.
That was its first mistake.
The figure of Freya quickly replaced the black ball, causing it to look towards the undead in shock. Balancing her crossbow on her arm, she aimed for the kill.
And that was his second mistake.
*Puchi*
"Argggghhhhhhh"
The chief screamed in pain as a bolt entered its eye. That wasn't all, though. It suddenly felt its body stiffen, unable to move, allowing the perpetrator to escape scot-free.
Seeing the goblin paralyzed, she didn't miss the opportunity to prolong the situation as she aimed her two pistols that began to crackle with electricity.
(Lightning Bolt.)
*Crackle**Boom*
The bolts of lightning struck the chief with frightening ferocity and speed, further debilitating its condition, and allowed Tara to close in to finish the job.
(We may not need Luck aft-.)
Tara could not even attempt to finish her sentence, as she suddenly felt a foreboding feeling coming from all sides.
So she did the most appropriate thing to do in that situation.
She jumped.
*Boom**oom**Boom*...
Tara watched as several spells hit the ground below her. It seemed the cloaked goblins that secluded themselves were magicians.
Tara suddenly froze.
Her eyes were on the chief.
Its body fully healed as it prepared to brandish its enormous axe at her. An almost translucent light shone on the blade.
(Qi?!) Tara thought with a regretful expression. Why did she have to accept Luck's proposal?
*Boom*
A ball of fire exploded upon hitting the goblin chief, pushing it aside and saving Tara's ass.
Tara landed back on the ground as she flashed a wide grin. "You guys sure took your sweet ass time!"
