Chapter 3 - Monsters don't exist? Now they do.

It was a cold night for GreenWood village, named so after their quick growing green barked trees, the Vintu.(They are just thicker bamboos)

The parents tucked their children beds while the moon, Melos, bathed Midor in her purple light.

The thick wooled Lana's (three eyed sheep) enjoyed the cool night air and the Vanu's (cows with antlers) moo's made sure that the nights weren't completely silent.

In this peaceful village where people managed to earn enough to live comfortably, a human(?) infant was walking towards the GreenWood Forest, cloaked in its blanket while a rectangular, semi transparent light blue box followed behind it, feeling like a man being led to his execution.

-"Sir while I do not doubt your capabilities, aren't you worried that your mother will wake up during the night and worry when she doesn't find you in bed?"

Translation:Please let's go home, I don't want to spend the night in a spooky forest with something as scary as you.

-'You need not worry Stephen, I made sure that my mother and siblings will have a pleasant sleep until tomorrow, I made it so just in case my siblings were to inconvenience my exhausted mother with their crying.'

-"That is...very thoughtful of you sir. May I ask why we need to go into the GreenWood Forest?"

-'So that's its name, a bit uncreative but the forest doesn't seem to care.'

The GreenWood Forest was enchanting, with small dirt roads made by foragers and lumberjacks that made it so that the vegetation doesn't completely engulf the ground, along with small berry bushes and flowers giving a bit of color.

-"Oh does that mean that you can talk with the forest sir? I bet this forest has a very beautiful dryad protecting it. From the information given by the company, Dryads are beings that inhabit forests, acting a representative for the Nature Spirits of that location."

Stephen was starting to get excited to see more fantasy elements. After his training video he got a lot of information about Midor sent straight into his mind, such as the 5 continents, the four major empires of the continent of Yvon that he is on, and many other things.

-'Dryad? Curious name but no I don't really see any being that would reflect the image inside your mind and when I asked the Vintu they didn't really have much to say.'

-"Strange, I was pretty sure that dryads are supposed to appear in areas with large amounts of vegetation. Could you tell me what the tree's are saying sir? I haven't become a proper system yet so I don't have all of my capabilities."

-'Mostly about water and the very small rocks in the ground. Their souls are young since they grow very fast and are then harvested by the woodsmen of the village and then sold. They also cannot see or hear but they do feel pain.'

-"What about the Nature Spirit's?"

-'Hm? Oh you mean the green wisps? A bit odd to call them 'Nature Spirits' when nature is such a broad thing.'

The Anomaly then looked at a particular direction for a few seconds and then continued walking.

'They said that there isn't enough Ether or Mana in the area to let a Dryad to be born.'

(Quick explanation:Think of Mana and Ether as Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide. Sentient beings inhale the Mana from the air and exhale Ether while plants breathe in Ether and exhale Mana. Humans can only use Mana to cast 'spells' while some beings can use Ether if they have a very large affinity for Nature spirits or if they can be seen as at least part plant. There are many more energies which can be used for power but Mana and Ether are the only ones that 99% of the continent know about.)

'but since Ether is more present where there are a lot of people, they usually appear in Elvish territories. Plus apparently they can ask the elves for ether in exchange for small favors.'

-'I didn't actually think he would just speak with a Nature Spirit and I'm even more confused that they answered his question. Most times nature spirits are very passive, acting much like plants, being very sedentary and hard to communicate with. What do they see when they look at him?'

"Oh, it seems that the company decided to neglect that detail. Are you here to observe the animals then?"

-'Not quite. From what you've told me about 'fantasy world's', they usually have creatures called 'monsters', but from mother's fragmented memories, no such beings exist on the Yvon. Do they have their own continent?'

-"Oh yes I know about this one sir. While spirits, demons, dragons and a few other fantastical beings exist, monsters like goblins, slimes or orcs do not exist here, a shame really. It seems that the god's did not see any point in creating any sentient creatures whose main desire is destruction and whenever such beings appeared, they were immediately killed."

-'Ah that is good to know, It seems that she won't have to worry about competition then.'

-"Pardon?"

The Anomaly then ripped off its small arm slowly. The skin slowly stretched and then slowly started ripping like plastic wrap. The muscle fibers got ripped in two while the veins still tried to remain connected. The joints popped and cracked until the small arm was ripped clean off the shoulder.

The Anomaly had no change in their expression, simply looking at his own arm with no emotion being visible in his eyes whatsoever. No blood came out of either the arm or shoulder and just as Stephen had finished processing what just happened, the muscle fibers of the arm started squirming.

The Anomaly lightly tossed the arm a few feet away while it continued squirming. The veins slowly snaking outwards, extending into the air while the fingers audibly cracked as they elongated. The arm slowly rose up until it was propped on the severed bit, with the finger reaching towards the sky.

-'oh shit oh fuck oh shit. What the hell is happening, why is the arm sentient, why am I here, I wanna go to a normal fantasy world, why did I say I want to see monsters? Whats wrong with normal animals?'

"Sir are you alright? Why did you rip your arm off?"

But The Anomaly remained silent and instead continued watching as his arm continued moving. The veins and muscles moved under the skin like worms, pushing against the skin.

The thumb and pinky of the hand slowly broke themselves as they now pointed downwards, with the fingers on the hand now positioned like the tips of a star(⭐)

The hand then started slowly sinking into the forearm, absorbing the muscles, veins, skin and bones inside it, slowly enlarging until the hand also started changing yet again.

The pinky and thumb slowly started changing shape, elongating even further until they turned into legs which then grew feet, with the index and ring finger both doing the same and turning into arms which then grew hands.

Stephen was starting to feel sick as the hand slowly descended further down what remained of the severed arm, absorbing even more of what remained of the severed arm while two large veins slowly snaked out of the severed bit of the arm.

The hand slowly morphed into a humanoid body, with the middle finger gradually changing into a humanoid looking blank face, completely devoid of eyes, ears, hair, a nose or a mouth. It still looked like it had cheek bones, a chin and many other things but besides those, it was simply blank, devoid of anything remotely human but still trying to imitate one.

The two snaking veins that grew out of the severed part of the arm then changed into two hairless, fleshy tails which the creature then used to support its disproportionate, lanky figure. Rising up on its 'legs' and looking at The Anomaly.

The spine was bent unnaturally and it was constantly swaying from side to side, as if it was constantly trying to balance itself, using the two tails that were currently firmly planted into the ground for balance.

The legs were similar to that of a human but the feet had three large 'toes', one facing the back while two faced the front, making its footprints look like a Y. The hands were also disfigured, with four fingers on each hand positioned like the blades of a claw machine. The fingers had large nails, pointed the blade of a stilleto.

The skin was constantly changing pigments and having spots appear, move and disappear. The main colors of the skins and dots were light browns, black, creamy whites, soft pinks and tanned.

When it slowly inhaled, instead of holes opening on its face, the sides of its torso opened up like vents, drawing in air while its back slowly enlarged.

On its pectorals two eyelids were visible, which then started slowly opening to reveal two massive eyes, with the pupils as black as a starless night sky with the shape of a goat's eyes with a narrow slit being present straight in the middle, like those of a snake.

Once the creature saw The Anomaly, or its parent, it slowly started shakily walking forwards. Its legs were shaking like those of a newly born giraffe trying to walk for the first time.

Once it got close enough, the top of its head slowly split in two, as if someone sliced into it vertically only to stop at the neck.

Inside of the 'maw', there were countless needle like teeth that completely filled the creature's mouth with only a small hole being devoid of teeth, presumably leading to its stomach.

Stephen was currently having the system equivalent of a panic attack while The Anomaly looked at his 'child' unblinkingly.

The creature slowly tilted its head downwards, pointing it's mouth at its father and then shortly after a long black tongue slowly came out and then started moving in the air, tasting it.

The tongue was covered in what looked like small legs along its sides while the tip was shaped like the head of a bug, making it look like a long, black centipede.

Stephen started feeling uncomfortable shivers, still imagining himself a human body and feeling as if those 'legs' on the tongue were moving all around his skin. He was never a fan of bugs and now he is sure that he will start flinching whenever he sees a centipede.

Just when Stephen expected a monstrous screech to come out of the monster's mouth, or some unholy roar, what came out shocked him even more. It was the voice of a baby, most probably a girl, sounding to be around 3 years old.

-"Papa."

It would have been quite a weird but adorable sight, if it were not for the fact that the small creature still had its maw wide open, with its large eyes trained on The Anomaly, betraying no emotion whatsoever.

The Creature was quite tiny, maybe around the size of a squirrel, but it was still extremely unnerving to look at.

-'I swear that thing looked at me for a split second. Don't come near me, systems are not a nutritious meal for....you'

The Anomaly then nonchalantly started petting the weird creature on its head.

-'My mother hasn't named me or my siblings yet just in case we died early from some illness, thinking that that way she won't get attached. I know you'll grow up big and strong and so I'll be giving you a name now.

Your name shall be.'

"Melissa. You have been born under the light of Melos and so I think that this is appropriate."

Stephen was very surprised see the 1 day old father talk for the first time but his attention was still fixed upon the creature that would no doubt haunt his nightmares.(Although he doesn't even know whether he can sleep as a system.)

Melissa then slowly moved her small arms towards The Anomaly, with Stephen now preparing himself to see the would-be father of this creature perform a very late fetus deletus or perhaps lose another limb in order to feed his 'daughter'.

But instead of an attack, Melissa instead gave The Anomaly a tight hug and let out a very adorable girlish laugh from its spiky maw.

While Stephen was being horrified by the 'birth' of The Anomaly's first child, he hasn't noticed that The Anomaly's arm had already regenerated back to normal.

After a few hours of Father(?)-Daughter(?) bonding , which constituted of The Anomaly teaching his daughter how to hunt small birds with her centipede-like tongue along with how to find proper shelter, how to differentiate between what's good to eat and what isn't (Which also includes him mentioning that Stephen wasn't good to eat.) , the suns started slowly rising, ending their bonding time.

Melissa scurried off deeper into the forest, making Stephen realize that she was walking on two legs in order to copy her father, with her natural movement form being on all four of her limbs.

The Anomaly and Stephen slowly walked back into his home where he snuggled into the makeshift bed and Stephen tried not to think about what was released upon the GreenWood Forest.
