Hurriedly said, "Dirk Carter, don't waste everyone's time with jokes. You said someone entrusted you to smash the car; just tell us who it was. Why all the dodging?"
A chorus of agreement followed.
Dirk Carter smiled slightly.
Turned in Faron Walsh's direction, extended his hand, and pointed at him, saying, "Mayor Walsh, shouldn't you say something now? It was you who called me to smash your son's car, and now you're just watching the show. Isn't that a bit unscrupulous?"
The room buzzed with shock.
